Thank you so much for the tutorial. The backlight ceased to work on my wife's laptop and I suspected the ribbon cable had been unseated. Your video allowed me to get in, reset the cable, and fix the problem! If the problem had been worse I could and would have replaced the screen.
@ScreenSurgeons This is true. After some minor frustration of trying to get to the two only screws in the bottom left and right corners everything just unsnaps like this video. Thanks Screen Surgeon
Thanks for this video. I have this exact laptop, and I need to change the screen. The screens aren't too expensive either. Great job, much appreciated!
Thanks for this video! I was trying to find out the part number for a broken screen I need to replace, and I didn't realize here were screws in the back like at 4:25. This really saved me a lot of hassle and anxiety over replacing it myself. :)
I have a gateway NV57H13u, and I can't find the exact replacement lcd online. However, it seems that most of the NV series share the same lcd. Can I just buy a LCD (with the same size and resolutioin) from say the NV58078 to replace my NV57H13u? thanks, your video has been very helpful!
can you please explain to me IN DETAIL where the lid close reed switch is located on the NV53? A LOT of people are having trouble with the switch leading to the laptop not coming out of sleep mode
Hello, good evening. excuse the small magnet that is a left side of the screen, is it for? I change the screen because it broke and then change formatting when I close the lid does not function to suspend or hibernate, you know why?
fixed my monitor, make sure the magnet is hooked on the metal side. Also make sure watch how he plugs in the Ribbon thing that is the connector to the monitor . you don't need all the screws in for it to post.
hey ive got a gateway nv53a with the same problem,by any chance do you know if these computers are similar enough that i can use your exact same instructions on my nv53a?
you see the sliver barrel thing that's below the plastic transparent cover of the screen, mines is abit damage so any time i open up my laptop its makes a aching/squeaky sound. do you know where online i can get that part or housing? if they even sell it like that

Most excellent video! I've never done a computer repair before it this made it so simple! TYVM!
@LVA2010 it may be a motherboard issue. I would take it to a local repair shop or to Gateway.
