I'm Chinese by race, Singaporean by nationality... a South East Asian by birth! I've watched Pacific Island dancing, but this by far are the most mesmerisingly enchanting ones so far. A dozen times I've watched it and the other one, and I still can't get enough of them.
Korabwa. I love the infusion of poly/micro in this KIRIBATI DANCING. You go girls. Way to go Totally love it, beautiful Kiribati young girls showing their beautiful Kiribati dancing style. You sure do have great mentors. And YES, way to go. Keep the Kiribati culture alive.
Back than when we were all in one place we all did one dance amd that's hulaing. We voyaged alot so we were all scattered all over the pacific ocean. This dance is all of islanders damve its not just hawaiian... We all in this together
Yea He/she is right. We islanders were all in one place, we used to live all together in one place at one point, but we were voyagers back then. We voyaged a lot, some of us stays in an island and populate that specific island until we were separated and created our own cultures and made our own names, all in all we are all one. Sorry if that didnt make any sense, just try and understand it
Hula is a polynesian dance not micronesian. It's unique to the cook islands, tahititians and hawaiians. If we all did 'hulaing' samoans and tongans who are polynesians would do the dance but they don't. Stoo stealing polynesian culture.
I am Kiribati and I know this is not Kiribati Dance. But weather they are Micronesia's, Polynesians Melanesian or black i don't care. But let me just say their dance is fairly good... Beautiful. I love their first song.
The girls are Kiribati and Kiribati mixed (mainly european), my cousin is in the background but then I'm probably related to all of them lol. You know how it is with us islanders #everyoneisacousin! Personally, I think it's wonderful that all Islanders celebrate all our cultures by sharing in the joys of each others, an what better way then through dance!
it doesnt matter where their from but as long as their good than their consider islanders , islanders all the way , POLYNESIAN . MELANESIAN . MICRONESIAN you all are the best . ISLANDER PRIDE THATS ALL IT MATTERS ♥
Pacific islanders dances rocks....please police give me your handcaffs otherwise l will start dancing in the library while watching l cant hold myself im shaking all over its the pacific natural adrenaline rush...you know what l mean Pacific islanders
ai kamaura tarataran ao mai gigin atain naine aikai ooohh a nikoniko iaon aia kai ao man kakateke nb ai bn antai ae kateia nakaioo good i like the way u dance girls ♥lol♥ ☺☺☺
I JUST WANNA SAY SOMETHING ABOUT THE OTHER BAD COMMENTS,YOU ALL FORGET THE POINT A BOUT THE DANCE?THE POINT IS JUST FILL THE MUSIC AND LET IT GO.GOOD JOB AND NEVER EVER STOP, HOPE TO SE MORE.
whatever, poly, mela, micro, i mean to say you can't tell anymore these days who is what and that..the girls could be half poly half micro but brought up as micronesians, so if they're dancing in POLY way of dancing, it's still considered theirs ? let's just try to understand it as a PACIFIC CULTURE in unity and don't try to be so specific like because WE islanders already know all that, the description is only for those who aren't familiar with us PACIFIC ISLANDERS!.
I don't understand y'all why tf y'all really care if they not dancing in there own dance? Well my opinion is that y'all shouldn't be care at all coz if they want to dance differently then that theirs own business, so how about y'all be QUIET and ENJOY THE SHOW!
I was strucked with the closeness of the linguistics similarities between the kiripatian language words & same pronunciations,i could petty much understood what. Kiripati songs meant.i am polynesian of samoan Heritage, other then the Tokelauans Nieu Ueans,& Elise Islands"we speaks a direct similar polynesian vocabulary related dialect..i understands kiripatian coherently, just like im speaking to another Samoan..im am affirmed, and i believed the peoples/natives of kiripati archipelago, are far flung-descendants from samoa in polynesian migrations [r spreading out in ancient time.of the ancient voyaging descendents..the vocabulary consonants are not :Tongan,Tahitians or Hawaiian not so much fijians other then the salusalu islands & lau group islands that were incorporated in tthe Fijian federation's. Fijians, are of melanesians, with mixure of polynesians, either of aTongan or Samoan mixtures of ancient voyaging times..when those main three groups had more cultural exchanges & historical contacts...i am proud of the indigenous direct connect contact between our peoples & cultures..kiripatians are a beautiful peoples,Nations & culture..malo manuia.greetings & blessings.
We are proud to be a Pacific nation no matter what dance doing by another Pacific Is,they already happy. And that is very important because these gals not living Kiribati,I think they doing ceremony for the Pacific Dancer,Stay tune and wait for Kiribati Dancing.Gud luc.a👍🧎Respect from Kiribati
I didnt spend time reading some NEGATIVE comments coz its not in the Spirit of viewing good things. Yes we all agree its not a Kiribati Style but what the girls perfomed on the stage was FANTASTIC and very much appreciated, the World has Adopted Life in ALL form of Different Cultures. So please accept the show not where the Style comes from.....KOOL!!
Beautiful Dancing, but I love I-KiribatI DANCING, very unique in its own artistic way, so if you want to promote Kiribati culture, plse this is not Kiribati dancing. This is modified Pacific Dancing, because I-Kiribati dancing is quite different. I just want others that see this not to get confused. But it is very beautiful dancing, but if you can dance some I-Kiribati real dancing plse we love to see that.. No offend. I love I-Kiribati dancing..
The dance shown is not Kiribati, can we please stick to our own dancing ( Te maiee raoi not the "tamule song and action). Yes we are all Pacific Islanders but we should be proud of our own traditional dance and songs instead of copying other cultures......very embarrassing to watch our youngsters perform a totally different dance 'cause we are different.
How uptight. Where is it written that we cannot participate in other people's cultures. I am a white guy. If i play the blues am I committing come cultural faux pas? Dude, you need to lighten up some. What is embarrasing is reading such a restrictive, negative comment. Particularly after watching such a beautiful dance from another culture, performed by two beautiful ladies. Go fire one up ziggy.
m8 there’s no problem with doing other’s culture but then their culture will be lost if they don’t teach it to the younger generations of today…It was happening to us Cook islanders for a while but now they are teaching it…Yeah, was kind of going down hill for us for a while
I'm Chinese by race, Singaporean by nationality... a South East Asian by birth! I've watched Pacific Island dancing, but this by far are the most mesmerisingly enchanting ones so far. A dozen times I've watched it and the other one, and I still can't get enough of them.
The girl on the far right is very good :) she managed to keep her actions gentle/graceful throughout the whole performance! :) love it!! well done!

You heard about Filipinos trying to call themselves Pacific islanders? I'm sure they have some overlap somewhere, but why ditch Asian identity?
