Using a power supply allows the circuit to use as much current as it wants, to operate. Which can fool you into thinking that a cell at that volts will work also. A battery (cell) at 0.6 volts usually has built up too much internal resistance to light the led.

Very very cool. I'm thinking inductance size will determine amps, but low low milliamp situations could greatly benefit from this!

If u don't mind i just wanba know if k2996 mosfet works for that operation. Thank you

I have never tried it. I will put it on my list.

Hi, How long could this setup with SMD type as substitute for a torroid coil?

Great so what lower limit voltage can this run at ? What would the maximum power delivery be. Could it run a tazer module that only requires 0.05 watts ? At the moment I can use a dead aaa battery to run a small flouro from a tazer module but not below 0.65 volts . Sometimes it only 0.02 watt

It depends on your design. I have run a 70v neon buld on one of these using a toroid buy changing the windings.

@@tsbrownie is it limited by the transistors lowest voltage? 2n222

I looked up data sheet but I can't see what the lowest forward voltage is .

@@Buzzhumma You can use any high amplification transistor (in this case it's a NPN, you'd have to change the circuit for an PNP). I have used big darlington transistors. I think the biggest limit is the flyback voltage into the base and you need to keep the emitter to base voltage spikes to below the max (about 6 volts for most mfgs).

What value H inductance coil would be optimal to use as I would like to build this circuit and I want to purchase some surface Mount ones and want to buy some of the correct value, so what would be a good range to shoot for like low side 6.8mH or 100H range or what are you 🤔 thinking?

One use smd and another use ordinary inductor... same thing

SMD is smaller and more efficient.
