I also found the exo-drone to REALLY help at endgame because of the +3 stability. Also nuke plant for rapid battery charging. I never added the drones and still beat the game. I think maybe because I stocked extra in each sector and not the minimum. I found the waste treatment plant to be useless, at least as a way to get water for crops. The one that converts to something more useful is great though.
Colonization center is only in sector 5? Was it earlier in another sector, for example 3 or you opened Sectors as soon as possible? Did you have a lot of Storage to have enough Fe and Alloy to repair hull all the time?
yeah it was in 3 at first. the storage is just to help move resources around, its not necessary. im making a speedrun atm and tbh you dont even need upgraded storage or even any farm above insect. i will be uploading it in the next few days hopefully.
do you mean by the end of the game or early on? early on resource management can be a little tricky but you shouldnt ever run out. it sound to me like you havnt built enough docking bays. you want at least 2 of them in the 1st chapter and at least 3 in the 2nd chapter. then get a fourth in the 3rd chapter and that will give you 12 ships, which is more than enough to gather the resources required. if you gather all available resources then by the end of the game you will have thousands of leftover alloy and carbon.
I really like your layout in sector TWO at 19:10. But, don't you think that building the storage after the dock line would be beneficial for speed of transport of goods? The only thing that bothers me about this excellent layout is the fact that you have to delete the bay and put it on the bottom. I think it is unnecessary. Reversing the layout could also work. Bottom up!!
you are absolutely correct in terms of speed efficiency but it is slightly worse in terms of space efficiency. i think you end up with 1 less farm. not a big deal so its just personal preference. unfortunately you cant reverse the layout because the sector sign blocks the space buildings (eva, Dock, probe).
@@godspeedthunder Now, I absolutely agree with you once I started to see your first speed run, my apologies. I feel like a right dick, some of my first play games, I reached 500 cycles and still in sector 2. Me Know Nothing, lol
you should never feel like that, everything is a learning process and i have no doubt that there are likely many things that i dont know about the game too. i also make many mistakes when playing which result in deaths which could have been avoided, mainly due to overworking sectors, so i am far from perfect. the main thing is to have fun and to play the way you enjoy to play. games can quickly become boring once you start to try and meta them.

At 14:00 you say there’s no way to purge waste. I just move my excess into an adjacent sector and set the policy to Destroy Waste. Bam, problem solved.
i keep everything on optimal and still constantly get acciedents.. its annoying as hell... also if you have a health center in one of your sectors you dont need 2 infirmaries as everything gets transported to the health center via train.. (im a bit on the edgy side in that i dont even have any infirmaries in any sector lol)
yeah accidents are annoying but not a big deal when you have the auto repair upgrade. the point if having 2 infirmaries is in case one gets put out of commision you still have another one active. a health centre does not protect from this issue as it is still susceptible to being damaged.
good point, but when fires start happening then its possible to get more than 1 building out of commision, 1 by fire and another by accident. but still this is probably pretty rare.
Another thing. You said small warehouse are better, but they need 5 worker, the medium need 6 with bigger sizes and stock of course. Only reason why you said it is the drone facility? They will handle much better with small ones instead of bigger ones?
sorry i didnt explain it well, when i said drones i meant worker transport rover vehicle thingies. the storage bays all have 5 no matter their size. so 4x small bays will have 20 transport trucks compared to the large bay which is the equivalent size but only has 5 transports. so the large bays are great for mass storage and cutting down on power and workers but they are really bad at transporting goods conpared to 4x small ones
yeah the main ones that you want to use small storage for is the food and alloy as they nice to be transported around quickly for feeding (if you're using 1 sector to feed your whole base) and iron to get it to the EVA's quickly. everything else is fine in larger storage.
Helpful yes. Still I can't get past early chapter two...tried to learn a better way to deal with limited resources...but the game is heavily constricted in terms of progression by events...the game literally forces you to move to the next chapter, making everything really hard...just to name one feature that i wish to see reworked, the Tech Lab...i mean i get what the devs wanted( poorly trained scientists ) but 1 science every 30 cycle's is very very punishing; if you dont afk for 10+ hours on prologue you find yourself with no useful researches in chapter 2...and even if you get there... you're still forced to get the fk..memorial thingo to unlock the upgrade for the techlab....which not gonna lie is amazing...but you would had preferred to see maybe the "rank1" tech lab science " production from 1/30 to maybe 2/15 cycles... Tried the waste convertion process and failed lack of worker.......cause again...to get more crypods...you need to start events, which forces you to move to the next one and the next one...this is unbalanced...prologue should give you the basic knowledge on how to deal with all of the factors in-game...but the jump from prologue to chapter 2( not even mentioning chapter 4 ... that's painful) is too big .. is like playing two different games....anyway i thank you, because i found you're tips very helpful and detailed( the only thing we have in common is planning ahead of time with the sectors layout)...but i never had a chance so far to fill up every single square in the sector with max efficency...maybe i just have to deal with " not perfect is perfect"😅 anyway oof😅 Thanks again sir!

here is a pro tip, don't play this game by the time you hit the 3rd or 4th sector, that unbalanced nature of the game gets so bad that almost all play-through vids on UA-cam are using the built in Dev system to cheat through it. it is literally unplayable.
Excellent video, great food for thought, lots of thinking in this game. Thank you
many thanks! in about 2 hours i will finish uploading a speedrun vid that you might find interesting. game complete by cycle 734
