Following your Instagram mate. Something definately to aspire to! 😳 The photographs of the corals look incredible. What camera are you using? I also love the logo. Do you have a spare sticker for my fishing Cupboard 😂👌
Hey Jay, you're getting there. Not long to go now. Well done on getting you're hands on the Hanna checker. I only ordered and paid for one back in June...…...Still waiting.
@@jaysrealreefuk I spoke to Hanna about 3 weeks ago, they were expecting the first batch to be in the uk mid to late October. After seeing this video, I chased mine up and hey ho, its due for delivery today, so thanks, if I hadn't seen your latest update I wouldn't of known. On a sperate note, I'm going to make a prediction....... Based on your attention to detail, your enthusiasm and desire to succeed, I think your tank will be a success. So with that in mind, in about 9 months time, you will look at your boy and say ...Son, i think were going to need a bigger tank!
The Hanna nitrate checker probably won’t speed up your testing compared to standard tests, specially with cleaning but the advantage is definitely accuracy,. Great to see you ammonia is coming down
Well my tank is fully cycled now and picked up 2 clowns from someone breaking a system down. Woohoo! As far as Hanna Checkers go I just do old fashion way and I will be having to check Alk pretty soon! You almost there!
@@jaysrealreefuk yea crazy story. My son bought a tank from a woman on Facebook and she kinda said well if you want the fish I’ll sell them to you. Ok sounds good. Well we get there the fish are still in the tank swimming around! I’m now thinking what the heck was she gonna do with them, since we were taking the tank! Hahaha 😂 Bagged them up emptied the tank and said good bye. I think she was going to flush them. Now I battle super high Nitrates! 25% water change yesterday and they still over 40ppm. I’ll do another one this weekend. Don’t want to do too much too fast. Excited you getting there!
Also setting up an rsm nano this week (3rd tank) look forward to see how you get on with yours 👍. With mine I have already pre cycled 1L of siporax so hopefully cycle goes a little quicker.
Thank you for commenting and following our journey. I bet you are super excited about Red Sea Max Nano. Sounds like you've done it the correct way, my cycling couldn't take any longer 😂 Take Care.
Great to see the Ammonia coming down now, wont be long. If the cakes and tea from Betty's Tea Room in York are as good as the ones from Harrogate then I am really jealous!!! Hanna Alkalinity Checker would be fantastic!
Finally the ammonia is dropping 😂🙂 So happy now. Yes, it's the same company - it's amazing and such a treat. 🤞For the Hanna checker prize draw. Have you managed to get another friend for your clown fish? 😥
Jay, I am using two branches of Maidenhead Aquatics, both good, one suggests coral and invertebrate first , the other a couple of fish first to help cycling, how did you make the decision of fish first? ( I am in the same position as you, complete novice ) thanks , any help appreciated as there is a lot of conflict out there on well intended advice
There is so many ways to cycle a tank apparently. Most people appear to go with bacteria and a couple of hardy fish to start with. Thank you for commenting and following. Take Care.
The reason for the UA-cam channel was to document the journey, get help from people who know alot more than I do and to give something back. I really enjoyed watching other people's reefing channel. When it if you get a new tank, you should setup a channel. Thank you so much for following and commenting. Take Care.
@@jaysrealreefuk I bought a new tank and set it up about 6 months ago so be a while before i do another one. I have uploaded a video if you want to check it out. Good luck with the tank... Always available for advice but there is plenty of good people about!
Hi Jay, just binge watched your full channel. Your going from strength to strength, you'll have an amazing reef tank before you know it. I'm from York, gotta love a Betty's afternoon tea. When your ready for corals drop me a message on Instagram and ill send you some nice zoas over to get you started. Keep up the good work dude.
Thank you so much for watching and your kind words about the channel. Hopefully it brought some light relief from this lockdown! 🙂 Miss Betty's so I have to order deliveries to Derbyshire 😂. I will need some Zoa's for my small island at the front of the tank. I will definately ping you on Instagram for a Zoa frag. I'm also going to follow your Instagram now. Take Care. 👍
The hanna alkalinity checker is pretty good. I was reluctant to spend the money initially but well worth it! Got my eye on the salinity one hint hint wife Xmas hint hint!
The alkalinity one is so simple and quick, but my favourite so far is salinity checker. Well, we will see what the nitrate one is like next. 🤞 For the 200 subs prize draw.
Love the channel I was like you, complete Newby to marine tank other than a goldfish won at the local fair when I was a kid😂, but after 1 yr of studying and researching bought my first tank 2 and a half yrs ago and love it, remember it's all about Patience, I have a channel called mogsy aquarium like you trying to help other fellow reefers, remember that the nitrate test kit is for ranges upto 5ppm so for lower nutrient tanks , plus it takes I believe around 17min to do, a little to long for me so salifert it is , anyway keep up the great content and good luck and enjoy 👍👍
Thanks for following the journey. Just subscribed to your channel. Always looking for new channels to watch. Your tank looks awesome mate, hoping mine looks half as good. Going to give the nitrate checker a go tomorrow and see where we are in the cycle. It does look a pain on the instruction video, with the shaking for 2 minutes each time! 😳. Where are those micro bubbles coming from dude
If they are from the skimmer you can use filter floss where the water exits to stop the bubbles reaching your main display
Well spotted, they appeared when I turned the skimmer on. Thank you for your tip. I will add some floss. I have some in the cupboard! 👍 Take Care.
