Tamiya Mazda RX 7 R1 plastic model (Tamiya 1/24 kit)

I was thinking of showing you how to build a Mazda rx7 model car and this video is about this kit - Tamiya Mazda Rx-7 r1 - 1/24 scale model kit 24116. Is a cheap kit with a lot of details and a nice fitting. The main problem here was the black body color, which is hard to cover so I used gray primer and two layers of white primer and only after that sprayed the Mica Yellow from Mr. Hobby.
Another annoying part is masking clear parts like windows and rear headlight, which in my opinion looks very good in black on this Mazda Rx7. I didn't like the color of the rims from the kit so I changed it to gloss black to be a good contrast with the yellow. Overall this 1/24 Mazda RX 7 kit is a nice kit to build to improve your modeling skills.

Nice one! The underbody is very nice, I like the subframe :) . My friend, we really should start making hood hinges! I mean most of Tamiya kits that come with openable hood have this issue of "falling down" of the hood and myself I really hate this! At least Revell secures the hood latch with another part or with the dashboard so it doesn't fall. I'm not saying we should go to A4 Garage's level (hehe :D) but at least we have to try making some sort of reliable hinges. Good job on this model!

Yep, we need to update the Tamiya kits with hood hinges. I'm also very disappointed that such accessories are missing but on this kit lost my patience because of my lack of attention to the weathering panel line on the body kit.
Now I'm working on a Toyota Supra and I bought some type of Indian ink and used it under the layers of primer.:))
PS: A4 Garage is from another world:))))

nehh, don't be too judgemental to yourself. It came out pretty well 😉. My Landcruiser is in the same stage - all parts ready for assembly but haven't got time for it. The good news is that the works on my building are now over 🍀

Do you have to paint it? and if u buy just the kit what other parts do u need to get it running and looking good?

Yep, you need to paint the kit :)
Other things you need are --> an airbrush, paints, primer, sanding sponge, varnish, plastic cutter, air compressor for airbrush, clear glue for clear parts like windows, and a lot of spare time :))

Hi. If I will use as a primer Mr.Primer Surfacer 1000 spray. Will it be ok to cover after with light colour? (pink as example)

Hey!
For light colors, you need light primer like white. (If the color is red I use a pink primer to get a beautiful red)
For yellow sometimes I use white primer + light yellow and after that spray the main yellow color.
If you want to paint the car body with pink color my choice would be - gray primer (sand imperfections) - white primer and - pink paint :)

You don't need Tamiya cement, you can use Revell glue for clear parts use Revell Contacta Clear Glue
