Is a condo too old and too risky of a purchase if it was built in 1976?!! Im flirting with the idea of buying something out in Princeton...

I would say concrete ones that are also rain screened maybe a great option. Some older buildings are build with better quality materials than newer ones

I might. What's the typical lifecycle of a condo building? For example, we're looking at a woodframed building in False Creek that was built in the 1980s. If it's 2019 now, has that building gone through more than half of its lifecycle? Do buildings in sought-after areas generally get bought out buy a property developer at some point, and the owners are able to profit? Thanks!

The answer is yes, the older condos don't really depreciate as the developers are purchasing them. So you can anticipate profits. The life cycle I would say would be 50 - 60 years.

Huge fan of Vancouver! The reports you mention are not things we have here in the lower 48, but what great resources!

Great video! Very concise! I feel older condos were build better, like some apartments. I am considering one built in 1965. I would otherwise be renting and the price is very good, its a college town. I feel like even if I sell it for the same price I pay for it once I leave at least I get my money back at the end of the 4-5 years (graduate school). Thanks again for the video!
