Hearing it - from a distance - at the age of 5, I not only failed to recognise it as Chas & Dave (with whom I was very familiar) but somehow translated "Down to Margate" as "Dance, Amarie" - so: how, at that time, had I come across that name and got the pronunciation wrong? Dog own le nose. Still, you can't blame them for choosing not to sing about Southend or Cleethorpes (and "going up the Pool" was already taken)
