The Thursday after Thanksgiving is usually 2 teams that played on Thanksgiving. That way the game is like a regular game with each team having a full week off.
Love the Detroit Lions! A win is a win! Rough game! Hopefully, the Detroit Lions didn't have any serious injuries! 🙏🙏🙏Detroit Lions! One Pride! Nothing but love, peace, and happiness!
Detroit is built different it has been proven they win games where they go through everything. Injuries and mistakes. They just win. Imagine if we had all our players man what could be
Imagine if we had even a THIRD of our injured players back. 😂 I have never in my life seen such a deep reach into the backup pool. My god. We entered the game with 80% 4th-5th string guys on defense and we lost 3 more during the game.
As a newish nfl fan your insight and commentary is always appreciated for making sense of messy games when I don't quite know who to blame and who to give credit lol.
Yeah! How many times did I catch Za’Darius Smith with a bear arm around his neck? I was paying even more attention than usual because I was narrating the game to my mildly-football-curious daughter.
I won't defend too much but my thought process was this. They're almost out of field goal range after the sack, Caleb had plenty of time to throw the ball short, spike it and probably another play with a timeout to get them closer. However if you're going to go out on a touchdown and win like Caleb was clearly doing then he needs to 100% be talked to about managing the offense because not a single other player seemed to give a single shit about getting to the line in a hurry. He also took ages to call a play, change the play and threw a terrible pass at that. Rookies are going to rookie, if you're confident you go with him, that's why I dont think Eberflus called the timeout cause if he didn't trust him he would have called it and kicked the field goal easily.
Definitely not an easy field goal. It was fuckin 3rd down. They could have spiked the ball and set up that hail Mary or simply called the fucking timeout. Don't make excuses for bad clock management.
Doesn’t work. Thursday teams get the next Sunday off as well so that means one game played in 21 days. 7 days for bye week + 4 more until Thursday and then 10 days to next game.
Instant replay always there to take plays and points from the Lions but he must've been on his phone for the rest of the game. Ignoring many missed calls and not overturning the fake PI call that helped the Bears stay alive. Heck, the first Bears TD was on a blatantly ignored delay of game. 2nd Bears TD was on an even more blatantly ignored holding no call in front of the ref watching the QB and directly in thw center of the screen. Thrid Bears TD was a gift by the refs on the fake PI call after the Bears were not called for false start on that PI play. None of that excuses the Lions terrible play calling and ignoring Gibbs.
Let’s be clear . The game changed on the Gibbs Fumble. The score is about to be 19-0 or 23-0 at halftime. Props to the bears for the comeback. Thanks for the poor clock management. NFL are hypocrites with Thursday games and talking about injuries.
Just a quick clarifying question if you don't mind, Coach. Do you object to the Thanksgiving games, in addition to all the other TNF games? I really like the Thanksgiving games, most likely because I'm a Lions fan, but I absolutely agree that the only other time there should be a Thursday night game is week 1, when it kicks off the season.
One more thought on the Thanksgiving games: I think if the only Thursday games are Week 1 and Thanksgiving, it should be relatively easy to have the six teams playing on Thanksgiving to be on their bye the week before. That should help alleviate the potential issues the short turnaround time going into the Thanksgiving games. If you disagree with the Thanksgiving games, I definitely hear where you're coming from, but respectfully disagree. I do agree with all the other TNF games being terrible, and that should be done away with, as it makes it glaringly obvious that player safety doesn't outweigh additional revenue streams, which is a nice way of saying pure greed.
Am I the only one who thought I saw at least two separate instances of the Bears somehow avoiding delay of game penalties after snapping the ball after the clock was clearly at or past zero?
@@all_22_films I just thought maybe I was crazy since the broadcasters made no mention of it after it happened. So I honestly thought I had gone insane and needed anither human being to verify it one way or another haha
Lions just didn't have the bodies to put out there 2nd half. Josh Paschal and Levi Onwuzurike are huge losses. Rodrigo left with a knee injury. Wingo got dinged up. Ben Johnson trying to get too cute again up near you red zone, far enough out that the play won't work. I think CD3 means a lot to this secondary. Missed calls on both sides
There defense against our running game in the 2nd quarter was gassed. If we continued to run especially with Gibbs,... we could have blown this game wide open. I think Ben was worried about satisfying pass game stats in the game he plays in his head. Our run game was blowing them off the ball. Losing our linemen 2nd half opened the door, the rest of the way
Exactly, that was a perfect opportunity to kill the clock with the running game. I think Johnson is trying, to a fault at times, to step on teams necks and it almost bit them yesterday.
It was incredibly frustrating to see the Lions abandon their very effective run game in the 2nd quarter when the Lions offense were deep in Bears territory twice. I kept yelling “run the fucking ball, Ben”. The most pathetic sequence was that three straight pass attempts at 1st & goal. This was after Lions run game was unstoppable up to that point.
It would be great if the NFL would schedule bye weeks ahead of Thursday night games. It would certainly help mitigate the destruction that these games inflict. Seems like a nominal amount of planning to alleviate an obvious problem.
That missed field goal and the fumble by Gibbs was brutal and it made this game look a lot closer than what it should have been. Gibbs is running full steam ahead and then fumbled on like the 3 yd line. If Gibbs were held on it would have been first and goal at the 3-yard line which was probably guaranteed a touchdown right there. So I believe the score is a little deceiving but we can't say should have could have would have cuz that's football fumbles happen interceptions and quarterback sacks happen in Miss field goals happen and that's just part of the game
Super weird game. Bates missed an easy FG, Gibbs extremely rare lost fumble in the REDZONE, backups for the backups bc defense got murdered by injuries, Lions allowed a rare comeback instead of converting in the redzone like they’re known to do, KJ + BB missing interceptions… strange
@@nahbruhnopehe’s new! He was signed to the practice squad from Arizona 3 weeks ago. This game really frustrated me. They were making little mistakes that kept the bears in it. But we won and hopefully can get a little healthier for the playoffs
I think Caleb should have just got his guys set, and do a quarterback sneak They would have gotten at least four or five yards. 7 seconds was all he needed, Call time out, and kick the damn ball. Of course this would have been in lue of trying to call a play as well as an freaking audible. (Good Lord what was that kid thinking, didn't USC teach him anything?). Every quarterback in the world knows how to do this, you would have thought that somebody trained him at some point in his life. I think his head coach was so freaked out just watching him doing nothing, I think he went into a mini coma and just couldn't utter anything, like time out! But all is good, Lions win again, Yaaà baby!
Would the NFL ever consider moving TNF to Friday or Saturday? Adding an extra day or two of rest seems like an easy enough solution to help player safety and cut down on bad football.
Stevenson didn’t just talk to Jamo, he tripped him on the sidelines. I’m not saying the reaction is okay, but he was getting harassed, hit, and held the whole game. I think being tripped was his last straw. Again, not okay, but definitely not out of nowhere.
One thing I noticed about the Detroit Lions offense is when they get on the goal line and it's like second and goal on the 2-yard line they try to get too cute. Instead of just running the ball straight forward on second down 3rd down and even 4th Down, they want to try to be cute and do these play action passes over to the tight end. I believe they left a lot of points on the board because they need to just simplify things when they get over onto the red zone. I saw a few times where they ran the ball extremely well all the way up the field and then once they get on like the Bears 40 or 30 yard line they just threw it three times in a row and then had to kick it SMH
I'm currently watching the Packers manhandle the Dolphins on Thanksgiving evening. Lions are going to struggle on Thursday against the Packers unless they get some players back and clean things up.
