Absolutely loved and grew up watching Married With Children. And now that im older with a family of my own, i totally understand how they could be “poor”, but still have a house and a car. Loved how when it came down to it, they would always stick up for each other. I loved the comedy how it came for and from everyone. But, it also showed me that they created most of their own problems. But, i would only hope i could be the amazing father Al was in the movie theatre when Kelly had her mature talk with her cheating boyfriend, sat Dow with the fam, and said “beat him up daddy.” Simply perfect
I wish people would stop judging the past by today's standards. I think a bunch of people would enjoy rewatching the shows, if they did. Al is the classic funny dad, but even then they took the jokes to the extremes to get a laugh. It's comedy and meant to be offensive.
M*A*S*H* the movie and tv show , hit many topics. Being black and in the army in the fifties. LGBT rights, depression, child slavery, and infanticide. That's just the horror you can see, there were compassionate moments, it was a good show by a kilometer.
I think what people miss who watch it now, as opposed to back then, is that Al was never meant to be some kind of hero. He was like Archie Bunker. He was meant to be a clueless idiot who had occasional bouts of wholesomeness. Some people today are just too sensitive to watch it through that lense, but instead think Al was meant to portray some kind of chauvinistic hero instead of a parody.
You were too young for it when it came out? Dude, I turned 41 today. I watched this show when it was airing, and, based on the folks I grew up around, I thought it was a documentary of a normal family.
Christina Applegate is actually rrrreeaaalllllyyyyyyyyy REALLY into archery! She did that scene with David Faustino and the apple! THAT WAS HER! Not a stand in.
I agree with you 100% you have to watch it for what it is, everyone of us can relate to the Bundy’s to some degree and that’s what is so funny about the show
5:42 I watched Married with children as an infant... Nothing bad ever happened to me! But that's cause I grew into Al... but never married... yet. So Still happy and have hobbies. Maybe a Highschool sweetheart Redhead will gnab me at the next Highschool Reunion... I did have a Ginger ex...
I love the episode where it's HEAVILY hinted that Jefferson Darcy is a Secret Agent. "That's Bunny... with two N's *uses hands for Bunny Ears". I laughed so hard.
The show was vastly popular in Poland (where I'm from), EXACTLY because it was so "rude", politically incorrect and down to earth. Even today it remains a cult thing, and if you were to visit some polish meme sites, every now and then somebody makes a meme with Al Bundy, who's stating some life wisdoms... It's true, that show represented crude sense of humor. I personally prefer surrealistic, absurd humor, as in case of some british sitcoms (say, "Monty Python's Flying Circus" or "IT Crowd"), but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy something simpler now, can I? Each type of humor has its place - for example, if a joke is based purely around some profanity in the punchline, that doesn't change the fact it may be genuinely funny. One serious civilizational disease of our times is, that there's too many "delicate flowers" around, who can't take a joke and get offended at pretty much everything, that's not in line with their own "narrative". These people just want to see the world burn... Which is why it wouldn't be possible to make another show like "Married With Children" today. But if you ask me, there are no "offensive" and "correct" jokes. There are only jokes, which are either funny, or unfunny. Katey Sagal looks still quite hot, even considering her age. I loved her voiceover of Leela in "Futurama". Some people could say, that Ed O'Neill is an "actor of one role", because of the show, but to me Al Bundy is just his BEST role, one that already made him immortal. That, and the fact Al scored four touchdowns in one game😄
All same was in Serbia and now we watch reruns Married with children and Everybody love Raymond all what I watch like kid and it's best show's don't have woke bs!
A little more in-depth about how Ed O'Neill gained the role, he actually took inspiration for the role from one of is uncles, who had that attitude of being dejected. It set him apart from others who went for the role, as mentioned in the video.
MASH still holds the record for most people watching the series finale...106 million! It actually peaked during the last 20 minutes with viewers at 121 million!! The The show took place during the Korean War. It ran on tv from 1972 to 1983. It was a movie first...
The Christmas episodes were the best. Al feeling very underappreciated. The Bundy's stealing from Santa, who just died after a fall from their roof. Fun Fact: Ed O'Neill had been a member of the Pittsburg Steelers during their "Iron Curtain" glory days of the 1970's (winning four Super Bowls in six years).
@@Zylo1111 No. He was a back up to a back up on the defense. Although he suited up for several years and stood on the sideline during games, he might have been lucky to get a handful of actual plays on the field. In college, he played defensive line, so, no quarterback glory for Ed.
Have you seen the Futurama episode, "A Bicyclops Built for Two", Season 2, episode 9? You should note this down and check it out to see its relation to Married With Children. It's amazing any of those Easter Eggs were thrown into future Fox shows, as many of them were known to get the axe quite early by the mollusk-brained executives.
The most shocking thing in this video is when you said you haven't seen The Shinning. I hope someone is paying you right now to add that to your movie watch list for Patreon. If not, I might.
Who would of thought out of the TV dad's Heath Cliff Huxtable, the dad from 7th heaven, and Al Bundy that Mr Bundy would be the best of them all. Lolololol
I'm from Europe and I used to watch this show on TV. It was dubbed, so we didn't hear the real voices but everything on French and German TV was dubbed, that's all we got, so we were used to that. I didn't become a misogynist after watching this show, I didn't think this was a misogynistic show. I just thought/think it was funny, weird family. Also, I had such a crush on Christina Applegate!
We can't just apply today's culture/logic and outlook to things that happened in the past. Of course the show was raunchy and messed up, that isn't lost on anyone, I mean it's a guilty pleasure. It's no different than the messed up nature of those Real Housewives of [insert city] garbage. Things are what they are and culture and outlook will always be changing. That doesn't give us the right to admonish those that came before with such certainty when those before lived in a other age with different technology and social beliefs
An episode i'll always remember is when kelly made frenimies with the french foreign exchange student. It was a young mila jovovich, and a rare occurence when applegate was upstaged in the looks department. It would never be ok in today's weak pansy landscape. If that term just triggered anyone then definitely this show will give you a stroke. If you're capable of not being outraged by a word then it'll be the show that you'll understand why fox still exists and didnt fail as a channel.
I love Married... with Children so much! Gonna have to go rewatch it now. I was 10 years old when it started, but lived in a rural area that didn't get Fox until a year or two later; as soon as I saw my first episode, though, I was hooked. My parents were NOT hooked, so I wound up saving my allowance and buying my OWN TV, just so I could watch this show! Although I could only afford either a teenytiny color TV, or a mildly larger black & white TV, so I went with the bigger screen... all my early MwC memories are therefore black & white. 🤣 I'm female, and I thought Kelly Bundy was the absolute coolest teenage girl ever. When I was about 15 or 16 I even bought a Kelly Bundy dress, although I think I only got up the nerve to wear it once or twice. Looked good, though! 😜 I saw an interview with Christina Applegate, where she chided men for drooling over Kelly because she was underage at the time; can't blame her for being a bit indignant about that, but if she'd thought about it, she might not have been thrilled about young girls seeing Kelly as a role model, either! If I ever see a No Ma'am shirt for sale nowadays, though, I will gladly buy and wear that....
Not the Cosby's was a fitting nickname for the show. While the Cosby Show consisted of two professional working parents and near-perfect children, the Bundy's were a turn in the opposite direction. The Russian TV series "Happy Together" was an exact copy of Married with Children.
"That Is A Big Man Flying" ... ... King Kong Bundy was ... unique. You wouldn't see a "big man" -that- agile until Mark Calloway (Vader could fly too).
I've been watching your channel for about 2 years now and I cannot understand how you managed to remain SOOOOO content isolated growing up!? Somehow you have never seen or heard some of what I consider to be the most iconic shows, movies and songs. Did you grow up in a super rural area without connectivity?
Married with Children was without a doubt a real deal game changer (I think most kids at the time probably didn’t watch it because you had to work to get the channel to come in with a antenna (FOX in my area aired on a UHF station) at first my mom & dad wouldn’t let me watch it but, after maybe a month i was allowed i didn’t get all of it but, something about it attracted me to it) having a older brother & sister i was exposed to so much early on from Horror, 3 Stooges, Rated R Comedies, Wrestling at the Chase The early years of FOX were very manic with all sorts of shows that aired maybe a season but, they did actually air films uncut on Sat. (until 1990 or so) in 2023 Married with Children maybe seen too edgy but, it’s really not (the problem people got to soft to some extent) especially when it comes to comedy
My stepdad LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED NO MA'AM. This was his favorite show, along with the Golden Girls. Make THAT make sense...😂😂😂
Best thing now on my TV have rerun's from start Married with children and here is translated like Married waters but am so happy can watch something I watch like a kid and after that go Everybody love Raymond ❤
They got a little cheeky with Christina Applegate. She was one of the hottest chicks on the tube at the time. This show is an American classic. The Bundy family was closer to the average working family that most shows up that point. The No Ma am stuff is hilarious.
rofl...OMG I remember growing up and watching this, Tracey Ullman (which launched the Simpsons as a short), in living color, and the rest of the most questionable material available at the time (late 80's-early/mid 90's). None of these shows could be made exactly the same and honestly I am glad that several social norms have changed.
To the specific line saying that Al made fun of the LGBTQ community, well it was the 90's, its not excusing it its just what everybody did. Yes it was wrong. But hell there was a way earlier episode in MWC that had a story about Peggy meeting a man that she liked to go dancing with, turned out that man had a husband that was looking for him. That husband turned up to the Bundy house, talked about how his husband was missing dinner and such, Al was impressed that this gay man liked to cook and clean. Next scene the gay guy is cooking a steak for Al. So yeah even back then Al was accepting of a gay man!
10:55 What the f are they talking about? Al never had a rivalry with gay people in the show. In one episode, Amanda Bearse plays Marcy's gay cousin and Al gets along with her much better than with Marcy. In another episode, Peggy starts dating a man behind Al's back, when the man's husband shows up at Al's door to spill the beans, Al gets him into his home, and after the man cooks a great meal for Al and pampers him while watching a game, Al says something in the lines of "any man should be proud of having you as husband, I don't understand what your husband is doing with my wife" (I'm paraphrasing) Probably is that Amanda Bearse was not just gay but also a producer, I don't remember bad gay stereotypes in the show.
"she's from Europe, she's never seen the show" I'm from Europe and I loved this show back in the 90s. Maybe it wasn't broadcast in her country or she was simply too young to watch it back then but stating she's from Europe is not a valid excuse.
You have not seen the shining!? Born in 1985! Maybe you are not quite old enough to take on some of your reaction tasks LOL! Keep up the great work; love ya. Siochain
title makes it seem like something specific happened to cause it to end... feels click-baity. I know that's the title the original video used, just saying... it feels like wasted time to just get a history of the show
based on the honey mooners...king of queens (even with a special for the honey monners) kinda worked for more modern times. sure not for the kind of humor they where searching for
Hello Fellow Humans, I bet you are thinking of Home Improvement for last mans man. I remember this show as I was born in 1983. It was extremely funny. I would say this it was the last show where a man could be that funny and nit care about repercussions from society. Nowadays a man like that is cancelled and shamed and made to feel horrible about themselves. Obviously things are different and I should not have to say this never hit a woman or treat her less than. However this show shows the a dynamic that is basically foreign to most these days. A man cant be this anymore and women are very much Peggy nowadays in western societies. Sadly this maybe a real bad thing as I have read and watched a statistic that scares me. By 2030 50% of women over 30 will be single and without kids. This will drastically hurt society and line the pockets of pharmaceuticals for all the depression and loneliness that will occur. I personally don't care who stays home but their is something to be sad about a stay at home parent and a family surviving on a single income. We have pretty much lost this. So I would say yhis show has a lot to iffer and rewatching it will show you how we got to this day and age. Not saying its good or bad.
I loved married with children! I hate thebera we are in now!!! PLEASE DONT WATCH ANYTHING WITH 2023 EYES. SOCIETY TODAY IS SICK! Weak! Twisted! The list goes on.
The show is funny, just because Al Bundy is a misogynist homophobe does not change how funny it is, in fact it makes it more funny. The last man's man would be those things anyways. All this you can't be friends with or respect people you disagree with is crazy. I understand in some situations you can't help those feelings but you can't be mad at people who can look past it or have it make the subject matter spark more and enjoy it for what it is.
One of the 'Banned' episodes was called the period piece. *spoilers* the three women all get their periods during a camping trip. Censors said that was a bridge too far. Conservatives of the 80s and 90s hated the show and now embrace it.
Absolutely loved and grew up watching Married With Children. And now that im older with a family of my own, i totally understand how they could be “poor”, but still have a house and a car. "No Ma'am" t-shirt is epic and you should sell those.
The show was great, seemed like more like an actual family. They aggravated each other but they also fought for each other when they had to.
MASH was an awesome show. It was funny and could be deep as well, with how it covered the topic of war.
It covered a lot of topics along with war. It was way ahead of its time.
M*A*S*H* the movie and tv show , hit many topics. Being black and in the army in the fifties. LGBT rights, depression, child slavery, and infanticide. That's just the horror you can see, there were compassionate moments, it was a good show by a kilometer.
Yep. My second favorite show.
Married witgh children in Romania back in 90s was huge I loved need to rewatch it
I think what people miss who watch it now, as opposed to back then, is that Al was never meant to be some kind of hero. He was like Archie Bunker. You were too young for it when it came out? Dude, I turned 41 today. I watched this show when it was airing, and, based on the folks I grew up around, I thought it was a documentary of a normal family.
i was 4 months old when the first episode aired and 11 when the last episode aired.
I turn 44 in 2 weeks love the show
even i watched this show. not when it aired, tho. thats almost impossible as im 25😅
I’m 37 and I never missed an episode. It was my favorite show as a kid.
Christina Applegate is actually rrrreeaaalllllyyyyyyyyy REALLY into archery! She did that scene with David Faustino and the apple! THAT WAS HER! Not a stand in.
I am from Bulgaria and I grew up with the show like 15-20 years ago we watched Married with Children. It was a favorite then.
Nooo dont watch it with 2023 eyes! that's the whole problem with cancel culture.
Not 2023 eyes, not 2023 sentiments. Haha
Watch it with your own eye. Speak about it publicly with 2023 censored vernacular
I agree with you 100% you have to watch it for what it is, everyone of us can relate to the Bundy’s to some degree and that’s what is so funny about the show
Exactly.
😂😂😂 Not all 2023 eyes give a damn
This is one of the best comedies ever made along with All in the family and Sanford and son

Katey Sagal looks still quite hot, even considering her age. I loved her voiceover of Leela in "Futurama".

Katie was SUPREME in Sons of Anarchy. No one else could have played Gemma. No one.
My parents didn't really care what I watched, and we only had broadcast tv anyway, so I grew up on this show. I remember almost every episode.
If you reacted to Married with children id watch it.
MASH still holds the record for most people watching the series finale...106 million! It actually peaked during the last 20 minutes with viewers at 121 million!! The The show took place during the Korean War. It ran on tv from 1972 to 1983. It was a movie first...
Married With Children was the greatest sitcom of all time.
This show came out when I was 10, loved it then and still find it hilarious.
I own the entire set on DVD and it's well worth it. This show is just hilarious.😂😂😂
Wait? He really scored 4 touchdowns in one game?
@@Zylo1111 No. He was a back up to a back up on the defense. Although he suited up for several years and stood on the sideline during games, he might have been lucky to get a handful of actual plays on the field. In college, he played defensive line, so, no quarterback glory for Ed.

Good wigs are not cheap.
SERIOUSLY.
I would always try to be home in time to watch. I think the Marcy chicken jokes was the funniest running gag on the show.
The most shocking thing in this video is when you said you haven't seen The Shinning. I hope someone is paying you right now to add that to your movie watch list for Patreon. If not, I might.
It's definitely one of the funniest shows to ever exist
Just like Al Bundy, my dad's man cave was the whole house.
Who would of thought out of the TV dad's Heath Cliff Huxtable, the dad from 7th heaven, and Al Bundy that Mr Bundy would be the best of them all. Lolololol
even better than homer simpson imo
I kinda always had that gut feeling. Seeing patients in his BASEMENT always felt like a big bag of, "OH F7CK NO AND F7CK YOU" to me.
Classic show I've seen just about every episode and the entire series is good to watch.
Definitely a top 5 show of all time. It was genius.
Fun trivia: Ed O'Neal actually DID play football. Not as a running back for "Polk High", but as an outside linebacker for The Pittsburgh Steelers
Every red-blooded male had a crush on Christina.
The show was huge here in Europe too. I absolutely loved it.
We can't just apply today's culture/logic and outlook to things that happened in the past. Of course the show was raunchy and messed up, that isn't lost on anyone, I mean it's a guilty pleasure. We know what we have to do now Fellas. We have to start recommending MASH episodes!
You can't watch something from 87 to 97 with 2023 eyes , it just doesn't work.
You have to watch the Shinning movie it's great!
I love Married... with Children so much! Gonna have to go rewatch it now. MASH had at its finale the highest viewer count in US tv history, not bad from a 46th placing in the first season.

I am from Serbia and we watch this at 90
See got married with children in Scotland. I loved it!!
YES! Re-Watch and laugh your ass off!! LOL!
This was without question my favorite sitcom.
I grew up watching this show from the time I was 7 watched every episode
"That Is A Big Man Flying" ... ...
King Kong Bundy was ... unique. You wouldn't see a "big man" -that- agile until Mark Calloway (Vader could fly too).

@MrLboydReacts I would never know from your (lack of) accent!

A proper high-class wig as used in Hollywood and TV-shows can cost thousands of dollars.

Probably is that Amanda Bearse was not just gay but also a producer, I don't remember bad gay stereotypes in the show.
Roseann's show, the old one...? It was everyone we knew! Some of us had black friends... But otherwise... Ya know...
In high school, Al scored three touchdowns in one game.
Man i loved watching this as a kid into a teen and even now, it's freakin hilarious 😅
Geoff Castellucci singing as Jack the Pumpkin king or GOT the guy voice is down right wild, you should watch him.
"she's from Europe, she's never seen the show" I'm from Europe and I loved this show back in the 90s.
Maybe it wasn't broadcast in her country or she was simply too young to watch it back then but stating she's from Europe is not a valid excuse.
Im only a year older than you but i grew up on the show from the time i was 2 and up. Idk if thats bad parents or just the times lol
You would love mash. I’ve seen every episode at least 20 times. Good show.
Show was brilliant
The successor of this series was Unhappily Ever After and although not half bad, it didn't last long.
Definitely one of my fav shows of all time! Next to star trek and twilight zone... People got too darn sensitive
You have not seen the shining!? Born in 1985! Maybe you are not quite old enough to take on some of your reaction tasks LOL! Keep up the great work; love ya. Siochain
MASH was the best TV show of the 70s you should watch it
man i never thought Peg was that hot but then I seen Son of Anarchy holy cow she was straight fire in that show. Have you seen Sons?
title makes it seem like something specific happened to cause it to end... feels click-baity. I know that's the title the original video used, just saying... it feels like wasted time to just get a history of the show
I agree, click bait title
its free on pluto
fantastic show. 1st show i can think of where dad was not 'perfect'
DO NOT search "not the Cosby's". That's a movie of an adult kind.
Men Against Amazonian Women and Girlie Girl Beer shall live forever.....
Mash was awesome!
Best show ever😀
Watch all of this show and definitely watch all of M.A.S.H. but watch it in order
based on the honey mooners...king of queens (even with a special for the honey monners) kinda worked for more modern times. sure not for the kind of humor they where searching for
I don't see why it was cancelled, since they all went on to do other acting jobs. They weren't blacklisted.
I'm going re watch it too
LOVE the show , Al is cult 😊
Watch the MASH movie first. The show was great, truly.
Steve was replaced by Jefferson
I never found much humor in MASH, even with the recorded laugh track. Often times it is a little depressing to watch.
Would love a react to their best insults 😂
Family Guy and South Park were way worse than Married with Children. Is it cause they're cartoons it's OK? I love this show. It never gets old. Lmao
Hello Fellow Humans,
I bet you are thinking of Home Improvement for last mans man.
This is where cancel culture started. I loved that show. Democrat snowflakes and Rhinos killed it.
So, Married With Children officially ended after WHAT happened?
You missed out on M.A.S.H.
One of the 'Banned' episodes was called the period piece. *spoilers* the three women all get their periods during a camping trip. Censors said that was a bridge too far. Conservatives of the 80s and 90s hated the show and now embrace it.
