Imagine if we had such cool documentations of the first massive railways built 200 years ago, would be so cool to see a drone shot of Brunel directing navvies to build the GWR
@JT-nr2ss Hello, brilliant observation 🤝 This was my thinking when I started these videos, so people many decades from now can look back on these times 🤗
The reason they are still building the seven platforms is because of the added cost of redesigning the whole station and future proof the station for possible expansion of the line to the north in years to come. A lot of the work outside the Clayton hotel is for the Eastside extension of the Midland Metro , which will serve HS2 Curzon station and on to Digbeth.
Theres a new JRL site starting soon, In Brindley Drive opposite the new Octagon building, they're jusrt knocking a multi story car park down at the moment on the site, a 15 and 46 story apartment building s,
@malcolmyates5449 Ahh Brilliant Malcolm, thanks for Sharing this 🙌🏻 I tell you I was kicking myself after filming the Octagon because I forgot to mention about that car park behind being demolished and wondering what they were building in its place! Also I believe the copthorn hotel is coming down too so that area is going to be very lively soon. And of course I'll be going back there again with my cameras 📷 🙃
The Woodman pub has just been refurbished, it stood empty for some years. Curzon st station was one of a pair the other at Euston was demolished in the 60s . Looking forward to the videos on Hs2., if you’re going east that’s were I grew up.
@andy-incognito Ahhh Makes sense now. Cheers bud. And I think they will probably (hopefully) use the others later on when the northern line to Manchester eventually gets the go ahead 🤞
Quite a large construction site. I’m thinking they will use these platforms in the future and it would be much more expensive to build them later than at the current cost?
Yep sounds pretty smart 😀 They should just build the northern leg! I'm sure many of us tax payers would be happy to contribute! Problem is they don't ever ask for our vote or opinion nowadays do they!!
The other section may have been scrapped by the conservatives. But it could be done later and by putting in the other platforms that were planned the further extension would actually cost less and also be less disruptive in the future Plus they did not have the extra cost of new plans plus everything that goes along with that
Those four concrete structures are not platforms, they are the viaducts that form the station approach. Working from left to right of the screen, the first three will carry double tracks, and the fourth will carry a single track. They all converge before crossing the canal via the steel bridge being constructed under the large white tent structure in the distance. The platforms themselves are yet to be built. The reason they have stated only three of the seven platforms being built will be used is due to the cutting back of the planned HS2 route north of Birmingham. Hopefully, in the future, the rest of HS2 will be given the go-ahead, and Curzon Street will already be equipped with the additional platforms necessary to accommodate the additional train services.
Brilliant stuff, thanks for sharing, this makes perfect sense now. Let's hope the northern leg gets the go ahead soon! They should of never cancelled it if you ask me 😒
The Woodman re-opened after a £300,000 refurbishment on 13 September 2024, after being taken over by Union Inns. Do you expect them to demolish it now ?
@@michaelstaley2241 Yes. If only somebody could save our other magnificent old closed pubs, like the Crown Inn, station street, the Crown pub on Corporation street, the Lad in the Lane , Erdington (700 years old) and the Golden Lion, Cannon Hill Park (400 years old). Multi millionaires, Ozzy Osborne and his mates could do their bit to save their city's heritage just by handing over their loose change.
@@k.avilla8061 clearly we should not be demolishing these iconic pubs . Quite clearly this tremendous news . I don’t why you think I would want the Woodman demolished…
I've enjoyed many a pub meal with friends in The Woodman. Upstairs and down. Pleased to see it hasn't been demolished.

That is a mega building project. Like Brunel building back in the old days.
That old station building was the main entrance of the original Birmingham station
You're doing a great service
Fair play man. Its called Great Britain for a reason. 👍
The country is fantastic the people are amazing… it’s all let down by those in government

So the platforms each side of them viaducts is a platform on each side. so it will add up to 7.

Agree, genuinely refreshing hearing some positivity!!!
Looks to me to be 7 tracks coming in. So if i worked it out right. 1 single sided platform and 3 double sided platforms
Nice vid ❤
hello earthling :)
Positive vibes…love these vids 👍
This will transform Birmingham to match London
You will never match London, and Manchester is years ahead of you. Their city centre is just so impressive in how it's developed over the last decade.
@@mallaka8 Do you think Birmingham has been standing still over the last decade? Maybe you should try and visit.
@@mallaka8 Nothing in the UK can ever match London in any capacity. Manchester is easily beaten.

Excellent point @John thanks 😊
It’s probably 2 platforms per bridge so that 3x2 +1 will make the 7 platforms?

I understand the Woodman pub is going to be demolished which is a real shame. Compulsory purchase we should be keeping these iconic pubs …
The Woodman pub will be staying and is undergoing a major refurb on a 25 year lease. So thankfully not going anywhere anytime soon.
