It’s no secret that patterns of clinical findings determine a diagnosis, but did you know that OCTs have patterns too? Combine all your skills and use them to determine disease activity. Remember, the tests we use are only one tool to manage patients. In this exercise, don’t use the OCT to decide therapy; instead, try to determine what the OCT indicates in terms of disease activity. Taking the leap to decide to treat or to refer requires more than just an OCT, but we can all recognize that OCT has a major role to play in this decision.
