Working With a 13-Year-Old Mustang - Q&A With Clinton Anderson

- Question: I have a 13-year-old mustang that was well started under saddle. However, he was left alone for 3 years until I recently bought him. I’m finding that his reactions are very hard to control. He’s respectful but has a “watching my back” mentality. I can direct him in the moment and get him to tune in to me, but I’m wondering if this is just how he’s going to be? Some people have said this is very typical mustang behavior, and at some level you have to be OK with it. Do I keep going with the hope that he can overcome this or have his abilities maxed out sooner because he’s an older learner?

Thank you for going over this respect and fear factor in horses!
Thank you, this is the kick up the ass I needed. I'm gunna be real busy for the next week.
I love that you are consistent. The answer is always the same. This is what works.
One of your best!
When I get a mustang, I will definitely be using Clinton's method to train them. I can't wait 😁
I've been watching his videos (among others) for years and years.
This is so true. I take care of peoples horses when they are on vacation. I have seen finished reining horses that I have worked with in the round pen. I am literally shocked at how many holes they have in their training.
The only thing in the message that changed is, Clinton use to call it sorry broke. Shitty broke has a nice ring to it.😂
Consistency is key in everything.
Clinton you are so amazing, 200 % egree with you, foundation, foundation, foundation that is the key ❤❤❤
I train my horses using Cinton's method and it works! Each fuckin' time! ❤
How about starting with a vet check, just in case
