  • Fantastic weekends fun at Old Warden at the Modelair Festival of Flight.
Saturday started a bit wet and then a bit breezy but at least I did get a good look around the stalls and more importantly a proper look around the Shuttleworth Collection. Great to see they have 2 SE5a's in the hangers and very pleased they are now the owners of the BAE heritage aircraft
On the FF field the wind proved a bit challenging on the saturday, often peaking at well over 10 mph but to compensate Sunday was wonderful with the wind dropping to calm spells between the lift. Sunday was pretty much as good as it gets for an Old Warden meeting
The Air Cadets were around on Saturday, which gave the whole day more of an RAF feel, hope they enjoyed it too
    Models include
My Tomboy hiding in a tent shortly before it smashed itself to pieces on a concrete fence post
Gordon Hanna's KK Elf defying the weather
A round in the CL race event..Weatherman I think but not sure
Glenn Tennant's new RC Assist model a Soubrette. A very nice flyer with a great spot landing
    Sunday was so much calmer
Richard Crossley's NATS winning Aeronca enjoying the outdoors
Pete Fardell's Popsie reduced in size for rubber power
A wonderful Tu-144, a great flyer and amazing sound
    Pete's Auster Aricola
Richard's amazing 4 engined Consolidated Coronado flying boat
Pete's DH Chipmunk - a model of the one Prince Charles learnt to fly in
    Charlie Jeffery's wonderful sport model
    Pete's Demoiselle CO2 powered
Ron Johnson futuristic Jet rubber powered
Pete's Demoiselle so good I videoed it twice. This flight is very nice
And finally a wonderful ducted fan Jet from Ron Johnson

    Greetings,
Yes, the Air Cadets formation was surreal, there I was, sitting with a tent and a tomboy!!
Thanks for the company, a very enjoyable weekend. Long time till September... All the best A.
ps. The XB-70 Valkyrie was only pretending to be a TU 144.

    Hello there,
Is there anyone living in or near Bristol?
I have been building these rubber powered model planes since my childhood, but they never fly.
If anyone from Bristol please give me some advice, and hopefully to see somebody about it.
    Cheers

Hi Yasser. Your best bet maybe to join a local club. South Bristol Model Club has an active FF section and no doubt many there would be only to happy to give you advice on how to get them to fly www.southbristolmac.co.uk/free-flight-info
