Hilllz.ry hi!!! i really do love temple and for the most part a handful of my professors. i think saying if a teacher is good or not solely depends on you and how your learning style is. many students use Rate My Professor when picking classes, but then again it depends on you and some professors aren’t even on that website. I would say the only large classed are mostly intro courses and gen-ed’s for the most part. essentially the bigger classes are the one’s where people don’t necessarily need to be in a specific major to take it if that makes sense. idk what major/college you are looking into, but within The College or Liberal Arts (CLA), the average class size is 27 and even so, i’ve had a spanish class of 8 students once. I like the smaller classes better because those are the classes in which the professor knows you and you know them and for that reason it’s easier to get letters of rec from them. I hope i answered your questions!!! Let me know if there’s anything else!!
you have to pay extra! I would definitely talk to your roommates and see if you would be able to split the cost. I forget how much it was, but I don't remember it being too crazy
michpie931 yeah it should!! i had a tall hamper under my bed and it’s probably the same size, if not a couple inches taller. i don’t think bed risers are allowed but the highest setting is pretty high up (which is what my bed was set on). hope this helped!!
You can't bring your own microwave, but you can bring your own mini fridge. If you also wanted a microwave you would have to purchase it through Temple. I'm not sure about other residence halls, but in White each hallway has a community microwave, but they do shut off automatically at 12am.
from white? well j&h is right across the street so i would go there most of the time. the only other dining hall is morgan which is on the other side of campus, but on a nice day the walk isn’t bad. other than that, you can use your meal swipes at cosi (it’s kinda like panera), and all the food places at the student center (saladworks, chick fil a, a sandwich place, etc).
The dorms at J&H are communal so you would be sharing the bathroom area with the rest of your floor whereas a place like White Hall, Morgan, 1300, or 1940 are suit-styled.
I am a transfer student from NY city, my question is do I have to live on campus? Or I have option to live off campus? Thank you, hope to see your kind reply!
Jessie Qin hi! you don’t have to live on campus. honestly, there isn’t even enough on-campus housing for the entire freshman class so that right there isn’t even guaranteed for them
My son has committed to Temple. And the only dorms left. Were White Hall and JH. He preferred the private bathrooms! But a Facebook page is saying how dangerous it is to live at White. (I'm from philly. I know what parts of N. Philly he needs to stay away from) I'm curious about the dorm. He originally picked a 4 person. But he couldn't find any roommates it was mostly girls online who were linking up not the guys! Lol Anyway he decided to just change the room to one that had 3 people in it. When I look at the layout of white hall on temples site I'm confused bc his says C2** and they say C is the first floor. But they show the "C" layout as a 2 person room. Even though it says on his housing 4 person. Am I making any sense lol?? I kind of wish he would've kept his original one which was A405. Now I'm thinking could he be in an overbooked lounge?? Although I didn't read anything about overbooked lounges for white hall. So I'm just confused as hell! Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
Tina R hey tina! i don't find white hall to be dangerous at all. it's diagonally across the street from j&h, and there are usually temple police stationed on the corner of 7/11 at night just to be extra cautious. sometimes it's a hassle having to cross the street all the time to get to classes or anywhere on campus really, but there's usually a group of people waiting to cross the street so there's nothing to be worried about. as for layout of the rooms, i think they just show what different rooms in the building look like, but the letter in front of your room number once you book a room tells you what wing you're in and then the first number after that tells you what floor you're in. i was randomly put in this 2-person room with my roommate (who i also did not meet/choose on facebook). also, there are no overbook rooms in white hall, unlike j&h. it's either 4-person or 2-person rooms. hope this helped!
Andrea Leoni it did help very much so!!!!! I know the area. I lived in Philly half of my life lol. And I moved to jersey when my son was 1. Well he's going back to his roots! And going to Temple!!! (I can't believe we have to pay out of state lol. But he didn't like the colleges in NJ!) he was accepted to a few in the Philly area... but Temple was what he chose. Thank you so much! Cause the housing website really had me confused! He's laid back. So he was like "whatever I'll see it when I get there I'm too stressed to worry about what it means!! I'm just glad I have a private bathroom I only have to share with 3 other people!" Lol!!! That was like his biggest issue! He hates the idea of communal bathrooms. So as long as good there! He really doesn't care about anything else he said. Oh. And he wants his own mini-fridge/microwave! Lol. Which actually makes me nuts that you just can't bring your own but whatever! I guess I have worse to complain about. Like college tuition in general and loans lol!! Thank you so much for your help!! It definitely answered my questions!!
If you are coming to visit/tour during Experience Temple Day then you are able to see three of the residence halls (J&H, 1940, and Morgan). The dorm room set up of 1940 is most similar to the suites in White Hall if you wanted to see what it's like, because they don't give tours of White Hall. As for mini-fridge/microwaves, you are allowed to bring your own mini-fridge, but not a microwave. The only way to have a microwave in your room is through the micro-fridge you rent/buy through the school. There are communal microwaves in each hallway, but they automatically turn off at midnight.
Andrea Leoni yeah we will be coming to tour. We had to wait a bit but my sons going in like 2 weeks. (And he's soooo gonna want a microwave after midnight! Lol!!) I guess the information for renting one is on temples site?? Watch me pay for all of this stuff. And not get enough in loans lol!!! Ughhh it's awful!!! College is just too expensive lol!!!
Yes there are. From my experience, before the RAs even checked our dorms we were told which day it would be prior to the inspection. They aren't allowed to go through anything that isn't Temple property, but my RA was very lenient about everything and pretty much just walked in for 30 seconds and was in the room checking for fire hazards and not going through anyone's things. They mostly just do dorm checks before break, so not very often. There are random bag checks however, so if you are trying to sneak anything in I say do it in the middle of the week. I imagine the policies at Morgan are similar, but I say it depends on how thorough your RA is. Hope this helped :)
Hi, I just booked at the White hall and I only managed to get the four person bedroom. Is your dorm a two person or a four person?
Definitely a 2 person, I stayed in a 4 person suite at white and the bedrooms were a little smaller.
How do you like the school? Are your teachers good? Do you feel like you get over looked in the classroom? Like how many ppl are in a class normally?

Andrea Leoni thank you so much that really helped!!
price of a room ?
are microwaves and mini fridges given to each dorm? or do you have to pay extra
you have to pay extra! I would definitely talk to your roommates and see if you would be able to split the cost. I forget how much it was, but I don't remember it being too crazy
Can a 31 inch tall 3 drawer container fit under the bed? If not are bed risers permitted? Thanks!
michpie931 yeah it should!! i had a tall hamper under my bed and it’s probably the same size, if not a couple inches taller. i don’t think bed risers are allowed but the highest setting is pretty high up (which is what my bed was set on). hope this helped!!

What are the nearest dining/food places? I know white is a bit further away

Does all the dorms in J&H contain bathroom inside the dorms. Just curious because I move in next semester. And my roommate and I cannot decide.
The dorms at J&H are communal so you would be sharing the bathroom area with the rest of your floor whereas a place like White Hall, Morgan, 1300, or 1940 are suit-styled.
Kicara Reynolds no bathrooms in the rooms in JH. Although you likely found out by now!
Where did you get the cart you have your coffee maker on?
Sarah G; Ross. if you don’t have one of those near you it’s kinda like TjMaxx
Andrea Leoni thanks for the reply! Whats kinda like a Tjmaxx?
Sarah G; hmm. not sure. tjmaxx is pretty much clothes/shoes and home good stuff
Andrea Leoni oh i have a TjMaxx near by, i thought you meant you got it from a store like it lol. Thank you!😊
Sarah G; oh. i did get it from a store that’s similar to Tjmaxx. it’s called Ross
I am a transfer student from NY city, my question is do I have to live on campus? Or I have option to live off campus? Thank you, hope to see your kind reply!
Jessie Qin hi! you don’t have to live on campus. honestly, there isn’t even enough on-campus housing for the entire freshman class so that right there isn’t even guaranteed for them
Do you have to find a new dorm every year
Drreamkid yes if you decide to stay with on-campus housing
My son has committed to Temple. And the only dorms left. Were White Hall and JH.

Do any bathrooms in the dorms have bathtubs?
PanDaL0v3r11 i don't believe they do, but i do know that the RA rooms on the 3rd floor of white hall have bath tubs
do all the dorms have their own bathrooms?
Laighlajoy no. most of the dorms are suite styled so they do have their own bathroom, but j&h has a communal bathroom on each floor
Your dorm looks so Gorgeous 💯
What size is the shower curtain???
Are there dorm inspections? and if so, how are they run? also if you know about morgan hall and their policies that would be much appreciated.
Yes there are. From my experience, before the RAs even checked our dorms we were told which day it would be prior to the inspection.
