I too just discovered Rene Marie tonight, on a jazz program ( WICN.org in Mass.) -- she is incredible! Hope that she will be performing at one of Boston venues in the very near future - cannot wait to see her!
Hi Rene, I worked with you in Centrum Jazz camp as a student with yourself and Sachal Vasandani, and I just wanted to let you know you got me into jazz and it's been two years since camp and I'm now studying at Cornish College of the Arts with Johnaye Kendrick and it's all thanks to you and how much you inspired me to carry on with my dreams. Oh Rene, You have great pipes! It's been years since I've been so instantly impressed by a jazz vocalist. Heard you for the first time on your Lace CD at a friend's home. Your voice fresh & has a lovely, original style. Brilliant arrangements, a trio that is like all of my favorite trios rolled into one(trios like Ahmad Jamal, ya dig?). Whether it's a "black bird", a "white rabbit", or a soul classic like this tune, every song delivers such perfection. Wow! HM, jazz singer & jazz listener
Yeah, that´s how contmporary jazz vocals should be: soulful, natural and still sophisticated. I also liked the trumpet solo with the quote of "Let´s Fall In Love".
