No, all it does is it maps the keyboard buttons to your controller. For example, when you press a on your controller, Minecraft thinks that you pressed the spacebar on your keyboard.

I'm sorry, but this was the best solution that I found at the time. There are some mods you can use Instead, but that would probably have a similar performance hit as this method. If you would like to try another method, please let me know your results.

Did you open big picture mode and launch Minecraft from there?
Maybe try a different controller profile, that might help.

I can't configure the controller for directly on Minecraft. So either there's a missing step in this video or this doesn't work anymore.

Followed all the steps. Xbox One controller works in steam. When I open Minecraft controller stops working. On a brand new MacBook Pro.

Remember you have to launch it from steam big picture mode, or it will not work.
