      Ray Kurzweil is not nice, the guy is a retrograde human being that seeks to replace human utility because he has a poor image about himself, the guy dreams to be a god and control the universe under his own convenience, he wants to render humanity to extinction.

    Here's an interesting paper detailing some newly proposed experiments, which have the potential to demonstrate whether or not our material reality is actually a simulation. The team who wrote the peer reviewed paper includes physicists and mathematicians from NASA, JPL and Cal Tech. They're currently forming a 501c3 to raise funding for the experimental set-up. From the paper:
    On rendering reality: It is now well understood in the emerging science of Uncertainty Quantification that low complexity computation must be performed with hierarchies of multi-fidelity models. It is also now well understood, in the domain of game development, that low computational complexity requires rendering/displaying content only when observed by a player. Recent games, such as No-Man’s Sky and Boundless, have shown that vast open universes (potentially including “over 18 quintillion planets with their own sets of flora and fauna”) are made feasible by creating content, only at the moment the corresponding information becomes available for observation by a player, through randomized generation techniques (such as procedural generation). Therefore, to minimize computational complexity in the simulation theory, the system performing the simulation would render reality only at the moment the corresponding information becomes available for observation by a conscious observer …
    Hopefully the experiments will be undertaken relatively soon. On Testing the Simulation Theory: www.ijqf.org/wps/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IJQF2017v3n3p2.pdf

    People need to research and think over the subtleties of simulation and virtual reality. I encourage checking out Tom Campbell's work and drawing your own inferences or conclusions. In a simulation hypothesis, your consciousness is part of, "inside", the simulation (which requires an insane amount of computational resources by the way); however the evidence seems to suggest that - at least some - aspect of your consciousness is non-local - outside of time and space. Thus, the virtual reality (VR) model better fits the data/evidence; YOU exist outside and are interacting with a VIRTUAL reality (which happens to be much more computationally resource effecient, too). Tom Campbell will be starting a crowd fund campaign for experiments to test the model's predictions. Science 101.

      RodCornholio so what if it takes huge computational power, in the future the computer will be so advanced we can simulate a universe atom by atom and even with quantum principles

    • @RodCornholio
      @RodCornholio 6 років тому

      Yoda People are free to use resources as ineffeciently as possible. Theoretically, one could build a simulated universe with rope memory and vacuum tubes, I suppose. The evidence with THIS Universe is that it is not a simulation wherein consciousness is "inside" or that it is deterministic...probably because it is not an efficient use of resources. Excellent point.

    • @R3DeckHD
      @R3DeckHD 6 років тому

      RodCornholio well what if... the creator of this simulation that we live in, they have completely different laws of physics or even in a higher dimension hence creating a 3d universe with peanut law of physics is easy for them and doesnt even take high computing power. Its like playing a 1990's mario game on 2018's gaming desktop

    • @RodCornholio
      @RodCornholio 6 років тому

      Yoda Great speculation and conjecture. You've probably reached beyond the limits of what could be known; the limitations of science. Sadly, we are limited to the empirical cycle of: data - - > hypothesis - -> experiment/s - - > data - - > (eventually) theory/models. Since we are pretty stuck "in the ocean", looking out and around, it's extraordinarily challenging - if not impossible - to use the scientific process to discover what truly is going on outside this realm. For those with the time, training, and (probably) talent, using your own consciousnes to explore non-local realities may be the best way to gather a personalized, first-hand, understanding. You won't win Nobel Prizes or build warp drives, but you'll gain personal growth and satisfaction. Perhaps, that is enough.

    We only understand and know what we know. There is much in the universe itself that we don't know. Yes a simulation where we did not know the difference would entirely be possible. Perhaps it explains why we can't see aliens considering the age of the universe. It challenges your entire belief system of what you think it possible. Rays explanation is as good as any.

      Yes but do you really have freedom of choice? That is what is amazing about it you don't feel like you're on a script. Or just call it a movie. In a movie.
      Idea is is the universe bang created many outcomes and this reality is just one of many "scripted" outcomes. And in this other reality you are not born, etc. So there isn't a missed chance to be born, either. Everybody is born, too.
      There's anther Earth with a completely different set of people on it, etc.
      And you're in a movie playback... but you don't realize it.

    • @fraser_mr2009
      @fraser_mr2009 3 роки тому

      You think you had a choice because you look back to the past and think you had the choice to have done something differently. But go back and try to change the past. You can't. It's done.
      What is time anyways? A duration... Inflation can be like the equivalent to pressing play on a tape.
      Somebody far away can access our movie past. The future the same. Real but at the same time like a movie.

    The we-are-a-simulation theory violates Occam's Razor, in the following way: Suppose the computer on which we are supposed to be simulated is "real," and therefore not part of our (simulated) universe. To understand that computer and its universe requires a whole additional set of physical laws. But at that point in our study of what is happening here, we are right back where we started, namely in what we usually call a real world.
    In other words, in order to have a simulation the (junior high school?) simulating creatures and their computers must live in a "real" (not simulated) universe.
    What have we gained in knowledge and insight? Nothing, as far as I can see.

    • @nathenism

    • @RalphDratman
      @RalphDratman 6 років тому +1

      A very good question. I guess one should choose the simpler explanation for the foundation of future actions, pending additional evidence.
      It is not easy to find good examples of the application of Occam's Razor. This question -- are we simulations? -- is perfect for the job. Should we humans believe we exist in the real world -- about which much still remains to be elucidated -- or should we instead suppose we are being simulated by an unknown computer which exists in a different real world about which we know nothing at all?

    • @FlyingPhilUK
      @FlyingPhilUK 6 років тому +1

      The simulation hypothesis is just a quasi-God Hypothesis
      - we don't understand the universe, therefore, let's suppose there is/are one or more super-intelligences that created our universe for us to live in....
      - it just doesn't seem like a very scientific idea, with no actual evidence for it....
      - and we don't have anyway of understanding how the real universe came into existence...
      I don't see how it's any different from religion
