Having taken in a 4 year old Golden Retriever rescue, I know exactly what you mean. I had my only little pack of 5+ rescue dogs of all shapes and sizes and I would often adopt very old senior dogs so that they could spend their last however long in comfort. Jock, my Retriever would help the senior dogs get up the steps into the house and check everyone else was okay before he went in. He would play hide and seek with my horse and taught the others how to do it. When my mum was in her 80s and was devastated by the passing of my dad, Jock just pottered about with her - always gentle and soft. My grandmother had a golden retriever "seeing eye dog" His name was Xylo. When I was around 15 yrs old, lots of my family was gathered in her small living room while my grandma was in the kitchen. She was talking about how well behaved Xylo was, and never ever went tinkle in the house. My first dog was a golden retriever. We got her from someone who realized they couldn't take care of her when I was about 4. She was still just a tiny puppy. She passed away last year from cancer. She was so loyal and protective. I think she thought of my brother and me as her puppies. One time when I was little I dressed her up in one of my princess dresses and a pair of fairy wings and she just stood there so calmly. Lea, you have made me cry on many of your posts, cause dogs have always been part of my life. But where Goldens are concerned having had 2 out of the 10 in my 67 yrs, were the nannies to my children ,then again to my grandkids. They are between human and angels. The way Trina was at my side every min while pregnant and after with my kids. Then with grans the same way. Megan Never left them alone, even in beds and snow and water. So loving to all in the family and I still miss then so much. I still cry telling you this!! And the chocolate labs are my second loves. Had 3 and as u know, so close to the Goldens and my heart. We rescued a golden retriever/pit bull mix. He was about 3 years old and he actually picked us out at an adoption event. He was so well behaved, smart but most of all loving. We had him for 7 years until he passed away quickly with Hemangiosarcoma. He's been gone for 2 years and I still miss that boy of mine like it was yesterday.
We have rescued a middle aged golden retriever/labrador mix from the shelter and it's our best decision eeeeeeever!!!!! We love him to pieces❤ They are indeed angels

As I sit here watching a 90 lb English Golden sleep and know implicityly that he loves me as much as I love him. Angels? Yes, I agree with that 100%. Thank you for what you do for all of the gentle, angelic souls in your care.
When I was little I was absolutely terrified of dogs, I was super sensitive to loud sounds, and really intimated by their high energy. I think I might’ve been tackled by a couple big dogs when I was little too. But, when at my grandmas house, she had a neighbor who had a golden retriever, I’m not sure why, but I just wasn’t as afraid of her, we’d play some in my grandma’s front yard, and I genuinely enjoyed it and liked it. It was the first time I had ever liked and connected with a dog. And was the only for a long time, I’ve always remembered and appreciated her.
I see your goldens are also the branch managers. My golden sometimes brings his branches home with him and manages the crap out of them inside of my house. I do joke with my neighbors that I rent him out for clean renewable wood shipping purposes. He will take your sticks or anything else and chip them up into nice mulch. You will not have any bushes left on your property so forget having nice landscaping. At least for the first few years anyway. He’s no longer eating my socks thankfully. I can buy a little better quality rather than an eight dollar pack of 20. Now he just brings them to me very wet and slobbery. He does have slug like slime in his mouth. This is the first for all of my goldens. And he breathes this very hot vapor mist that will leave your clothing a bit damp just by breathing on you. But the love and excitement he has is irreplaceable. God I love my Doggy
Just lost my 5th Goldie - 8 year old Izzie. Each one has taken a piece of my heart with them but each one made my heart bigger in the first place. You have summed up the breed perfectly - angels.
We lost our golden retriever mix towards the end of last year. He was a Golden retrieverxaussie mix and was such a sweet dog. But my mom and I used to talk about how he was psychic or just knew your feelings. My cat who doesn't really trust or like dogs (I lived with my grandma for a long time and we had 3 cats so he didn't really get to be around any dogs for socialization), he loved Foster a lot and I have tons of pictures of them laying next to each other or cuddling - which was amazing to me how much they did care for each other. My cat was attacked by a dog when he was still a kitten and his shoulder was shattered and had to have multiple surgeries. Birkin hasn't allowed another dog next to him since - so i'd definitely say that golden retriever's are special and not just for humans, but other animals too.
Lee I've never had a problem with my golden Finian Rainbow. She was the joy of our lives. She was born same year as my son and they had a special bond. At 14, Finian was really suffering with arthritis and we had to put him down according to the Vet. That was tough going. You are so right, they are more than dogs, more like people. Finian couldn't talk but that was the only differnce.
My grandparents currently have a golden retriever named Annie. They adopted her from a family freind after Annie’s owner passed away. When they got Annie she loved anyone and everyone, but was almost closed off to the world doing the least amount of effort to accomplish a task. She was overweight and very skittish of everything, the car, fast movements, even doors. Annie was also aggressive with food around other dogs. She has since improved a lot. She is now at a proper weight, doesn’t mind cars, isn’t afraid to get to close to you. But they of course are still working on things to improve on and, but there is very little she is scared of now compared to when they got her. They have found activities she loves (mostly swimming with a frisbee), and now loves one of my dogs max who is a English Setter, but is ok with my other dog pepper who is a Texas heeler, and tucker who is a deaf labradoodle. But most of all you can tell by her eyes she is just so much happier.
I agree! Forty years ago, after owning a variety of dogs, I realized that my favorite was a Golden/ Lab mix crossed with a German Shepherd. Although it sounds complicated, lots of farms have a Lab and a Shepherd that produce puppies. It's not difficult to find someone with a Golden down the road, who gets into the mix. I look for Golden colored puppies that look like Lab puppies with a black muzzle and black highlights. Smart dogs, personable dogs, happy dogs. and very sweet dogs.
Used to walk a golden retriever whose owner and children neglected her. She would come through gaps in the fence and spent as much time as she could with us. Chloe made me laugh so much on our bushwalks because after two hours, she needed a mere half hour of rest before we were off again. She would sit down with her head turned in the opposite direction if on the way home too early, in her opinion, and was immovable! In the end fortunately the owner's father took Chloe to live at his farm and on any visit back to the city, I could see she was evidently thriving on the farm. She was happy.
Our Basal is now 9 years old…he has helped me get thru so many health issues! And now, when we go out and about, he takes me to the people who need some puppy love. Goldens are special!!
Interesting … so glad you took Lucy. A shame a human could treat her so badly but I know you give her lots of love along with Callie. May God bless you and your crew. ❤️🇨🇦
We Coby, our fourth golden. We wouldn’t have any other breed. He is so loyal and is so smart. You are absolutely right about them😊. They are a very sensitive breed. If one has a bad day, they are right there with you. They have so many emotions , like a human :).
I have been training dogs for 30 years and just adopted my first Golden retriever/Rottweiler mix. I have had her less than a week and wow! Lee you are 100% correct
You are so right. Goldens are the best! My golden stayed in her terrible twos for 10 years. Lots of energy and she had 20 tumors removed in her life. I said next dog will be a mixed breed and I found a Golden/Collie mix in a shelter. He was the perfect dog in every way and no health issues. Best of all worlds.
I know exactly what your saying, My first dog of my own was a Golden Retriever, his name was Georgie, he was so special He passed in 2020 , he was 14 yrs.old. But thank you for describing them so perfectly. I still love looking at all the videos of him.I never knew how much I could possibly him. But I have so many great memories. T.Y for talking about them , so true everything you said. Kisses & Hugs to all ur furballs.❤🐾🐾👅🐕🐄👐
We were sort of toying with getting a dog, had put ourselves on a waiting list to foster a Golden seeing eye puppy during their first year of training (there were more families than puppies) and then someone in our area advertised that they were giving away Golden-Shepherd-Canaani mix puppies. I jumped on it soooo quickly. Just like Lee said - a Golden mix is THE best. Winky was friendly, smart, loyal, completely in tune with our family. We had 12 fantastic love-filled years with her.
My Golden Penny died of Cancer when she was 8…your description of Golden Retrievers is 100% accurate. That’s also why I believe Lucy was so broken when you rescued her. Her spirit was broken.. her eyes were so sad. It takes a lot to break a Golden so I can’t even imagine the horror she must have experienced to end up like that. Goldens are more connected to people then other dogs. Penny really was a bit indifferent to dogs but she never met a human she didn’t love. It fills me with such joy to see Lucy happy and thriving. Her eyes are alive and she’s always smiling. Thank you so much for all that you do.
There is never a terrible 2 Goldie as far as I am concerned. Their intuitiveness speaks volumes and their loyalty cannot be measured. My last Goldie separated from me in 2014 and I still sorely miss him and will love him forever.
My mom always calls my dad a golden retriever. He's outgoing and everyone loves his personality. We have 6 dachshunds but Ive have always thought GR are the most empathizing to humans and are great with kiddos We had one as a kid ^_^
I could not agree more! My baby Kirby, a 4year old retriever/great dane/shepherd mix is the absolute LOVE of my life. I've been mommy to two other fur babies, an English Bulldog named Goblin and a Rottie named Rocky who I loved dearly, but Kirby entered my life when I needed him the most. On paper I rescued him, but in reality he saved me. 💕
They are truly angels! ♡ I miss my baby Tully everyday... she passed away last year because of cancer. she was about to be 8 years old :( she really helped me go through some dark times and I'll be forever grateful for that :,)
Reminds me a lot of my old labradoodle she wasn’t a dog it was like she could looks into your eyes and fill your head with happiness she was happy doing anything and just wanted to please my mum
I love Goldens. I wanted my first dog to be one but we ended up with a German Sheperd/Rottie mix instead. (She was a senior.) My next dog was a hospice care Cairn Terrier, and then I ended up with a Lab/Springer/Border Collie mix. She passed two years ago. (Her name was Maddy. She was the love of my life.) Now we have a yellow lab, named Jack. He's 6 now. Would love to hear your assesment on labs.
I am on my fourth golden retriever in my lifetime. My guy right now will be two in September. My last golden passed away August 2019. I am still grieving. All of my goldens are angels. I firmly believe that dogs are of the angelic realm. If they’re there specifically for us. Well and for themselves to because they are evolving souls. But nevertheless for us. I learned from my last dog that I was an empath. I had a very severe panic disorder. I learned that we were both feeding off of each other‘s energy. When he would get anxious I wouldn’t when I would get anxious he would. I learn to be present. Not thinking about the past or the future but just experiencing now. Dogs are the best teachers for that. My last dog and I were so close that he literally could read my mind. We could communicate without saying a word. I mean he didn’t talk but neither of us needed to. they are pure beauty pure majesty and pure love. They are the most beautiful creatures I have ever laid eyes on. My guy now is awesome. He is completely loyal. A little jealous. Won’t let anybody else interact with me. Not in a mean way he just sort of pushes them out of the way Add 100 pounds every time I sit down he must sit on my lap and is it very difficult to move air through my lungs but still wouldn’t have it any other way.
@@cindyfitzgerald4500 they are gigantic lap dogs. I’m about 108 pounds in my link is 100. My last golden was 120. I don’t know how that happened that was insane. I mean he was a little chunky but not too too chunky. Golden retriever owners could talk about our dogs all day long. I think even more than our own children. right now I have the sprinkler on for my guy. He has a doggy pool too but he’s not much of a swimmer. He loves that sprinkler. He is very sporty. This guy can jump like 10 feet in the air do a 360 and then kick it out like it was nothing. I have probably 20 tennis balls in my yard right now. He will want the one that’s like up on a chair. Never mind there’s already 20 in the yard he wants that one that I have to get up and get him. He is like a toddler. here are some thing I’m so grateful for. All of my other dogs were terrified of thunderstorms or fireworks. Not this one. He will sit outside on the Fourth of July and munch on his bone and watch the show. He doesn’t care about rain or thunder he will gladly sit outside in the rain until I say hey Dingaling come in here it’s thundering and lightning. he hates getting brushed. Which is an issue because golden retrievers need to be brushed or near every day. It’s like wrestling an alligator hopped up on meth. I have cried. 😂🤷🏻♀️😬❤️ I got a high velocity hairdryer for him which thankfully he really likes. So that really helps the shed him and dry them off. I watch a lot of grooming videos and they say that since goldens have those double coats that you really should dry them after they get wet to avoid hot spots itching and a lot of other things you really don’t want your dog to go through. I am really hoping as he gets older he will chill out with the brushing. He is the sweetest guy. he is very very sensitive. I adore all animals. I just think they are gifts to the world that most humans don’t deserve. They are far too good for us.
Lee Asher I think your a wonderful person I call you the Saint Francis of animals cuz your love and magnetism for animals they are drawn to you in a heartbeat I wish I could do that but iam limited to one dog cuz I live in a small studio apartment and my landlord won't allow me have another dog I have one dog and her name is Cheyenne she is a Australian cattle dog and dingo cross and she the love of my life she keeps me going she is no golden retriever but her love and loyalty to me knows no bounds she is easy going has a sweet friendly personality a real people pleaser I wouldn't trade her for any other dog she is my second Australian cattle dog breed wonderful dogs all dogs are awesome. 🐕

It's true, they are a mix of a dog with an angel, their energy is always positive and their desire is be with his owner and make him happy, always smiling and given the best of their souls. I’m my experience all mix dogs are better then pure blood breeds. The mixing of the genes helps to get rid of a lot of diseases and health issues out. My dog is considered a mutt because she is lab, German Shepard and boxer. She is the healthiest dog, I did her dna test and it shows no health concerns.
I rescued a golden retriever mix off the side of the road when she was just a few months old and she was the sweetest dog. She was killed by a couple of dogs in the neighborhood while I was at work one day and it was horrible. I never got over it because I wasn’t there to save her.

Thank you for adding some goodness to my good day. Sending love 💋❤️
I have a heart for Lucy ❤️!! Thank you for updating us on how she is doing.
Just lost my 5th Goldie - 8 year old Izzie. Each one has taken a piece of my heart with them but each one made my heart bigger in the first place. You have summed up the breed perfectly - angels.
If I don't get my daily dose of Asher, I start to get withdrawals . I love your pure soul.
Goldens are just the sweetest, loving dogs
Lee i just love your animals they are so kind and thoughtful 💕
They're the sweetest, goofiest, jolliest loves🐶❤️🐶❤️
Our Basal is now 9 years old…he has helped me get thru so many health issues! And now, when we go out and about, he takes me to the people who need some puppy love. Goldens are special!!
If this is a current video, it's great to see you up and at 'em again!!!!
It’s true. We had a Golden when the kids were little. Smartest, sweetest, and best dog ever! I always said Dawson had a soul. ❤️
I have a mini golden retriever mix, and he’s amazing. He runs like the wind, doesn’t like being alone. He is the best. His name is eclipse
Ive had golden retrievers and two labs...they are the clowns and angels of the dog breed. They always steal my heart.
Interesting … so glad you took Lucy. A shame a human could treat her so badly but I know you give her lots of love along with Callie. May God bless you and your crew. ❤️🇨🇦
My yellow lab retriever was the most gorgeous girl, she had the most gentle nature, I miss her every day ❤
We Coby, our fourth golden. We wouldn’t have any other breed. He is so loyal and is so smart. You are absolutely right about them😊. They are a very sensitive breed. If one has a bad day, they are right there with you. They have so many emotions , like a human :).
We call our golden a people puppy, she is so intuitive and very empathetic 💜💜
My golden retriever is my Life❣️
They are pure Love ❤️
I have been training dogs for 30 years and just adopted my first Golden retriever/Rottweiler mix. I have had her less than a week and wow! Lee you are 100% correct
You are so right. Goldens are the best! My golden stayed in her terrible twos for 10 years. Lots of energy and she had 20 tumors removed in her life. I said next dog will be a mixed breed and I found a Golden/Collie mix in a shelter. He was the perfect dog in every way and no health issues. Best of all worlds.
I know exactly what your
saying, My first dog of my own was a Golden Retriever, his name was
Georgie, he was so special
He passed in 2020 , he was 14 yrs.old. But thank you for describing them so
perfectly. I still love looking at all the videos of
him.I never knew how much I could possibly him.
But I have so many great memories. T.Y for talking
about them , so true everything you said. Kisses & Hugs to all ur
furballs.❤🐾🐾👅🐕🐄👐
Much love from Poland for you and your dogs ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
About 15 years ago, I had a Golden Retriever/saluki mix, best doggie I ever had. Katie was her name.
YOU make our world great, just by being you, Lee 💜
I could not agree more! My baby Kirby, a 4year old retriever/great dane/shepherd mix is the absolute LOVE of my life. I've been mommy to two other fur babies, an English Bulldog named Goblin and a Rottie named Rocky who I loved dearly, but Kirby entered my life when I needed him the most. On paper I rescued him, but in reality he saved me. 💕
The light in Lucy's eyes are back. It was so sad when we first saw her on the channel.
Vet insurance, what is the breakdown for breeds like retriever? vs mixed breed dogs?
Everything is awesome in this.
Commenting for the youtube algorithms. Thank you. 💚💚💚💚.
🙏💚🙏 you're a fantastic soul. Thank you for the work you do.
Absolutely beautiful
They are truly angels! ♡ I miss my baby Tully everyday... she passed away last year because of cancer. she was about to be 8 years old :( she really helped me go through some dark times and I'll be forever grateful for that :,)
Reminds me a lot of my old labradoodle she wasn’t a dog it was like she could looks into your eyes and fill your head with happiness she was happy doing anything and just wanted to please my mum
We've had labs for years. I've heard their personalities are very similar to a golden. I'm sure if I had one, I would love it. But, I love all dogs.
My Chelsea looked exactly like Lucy. Best dog ever...! I miss her so much.. 😭
Well said, Lee! They are awesome dogs!
Super loving dogs.
Thank you for sharing the information. God bless you 🕊️🙏🏻🕊️🐶🐶🙏🏻🐶
We have always owned Labs, very similar nature.
I loved reading your comment. My golden sits on my lap too and he’s over 100lbs!
I had 2 Goldens, and yes they are the best
Love You Lucy ❤
Golden retrievers are angels! I love them! Can you post a video of the little basset hound you rescued? I just fell in love with her! .Anyway sending love and smooches to all your animals, thanks for everything you do for them. Truly giving them the best life, its amazing to see. xo!
Love Golden's
It's true, they are a mix of a dog with an angel, their energy is always positive and their desire is be with his owner and make him happy, always smiling and given the best of their souls.
Oh, I have seen my loved Poppy 😍 walking in the middle of the pack, she had grown a lot, before she was a Wiener sausage and now she is a Bradwurst (🤭)
completely agree!!!
We have had 2 golden retriever& lab mix. Best dog's ever.
My Golden is a Golden Pyrenees. We just lost his Great Pyrenees Dad last week and he seems so depressed and keeps looking for his Daddy. We are trying to distract him with lots of love and extra walks and stuff, but if anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them. BTW, yes he is normally full of energy!!! Lol
Because of u my husband told me that our next dog will be Golden retriever!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
💜 Love Goldens 💜
Curious, how's Poppy doing?
there you are Lucy ! I found you
My son and his girlfriend got a puppy a few months ago who is part golden retriever and her name is Jolene (yes after the Dolly Parton song lol) and she is a little stinker but I love my Granddoggy and spoil her as much as I can ☺️❤️
I think all dogs and cats are “actual angels.”
Yes❤
Golden retrievers are people in first suits. Like special special people. The sweetest people. The silliest most ridiculous stinker people.
Lucy has a husband to both take care of all your kids now 😅😉. Finally it fits somehow. Good luck baby !
@TAH, I Agree, Miss my 🐾🦮Cassie 🐾and My Lucy so much...Mine was almost Identical to yours the Lighter colored ) Cali is spitting🤠 image of mine.

❤❤❤!!!
What about a sharpeis?
Are all the dogs spayed or neutered?
I ,ve had , 8 dogs in my Life.....all mix of Germán shephard, rottweiler, Pitt Bull , american Stanford etc......all are in my heart ,all made me Happy and i have done always the best for all of then .....but.....YAGO ( golden retriver mix) ......was diferent than the rest.......a máster dog ......there are dogs, and there are Golden retrivers .
❤️❤️❤️
Cattle Dog. Lab. Golden. Pit mix.. Will be my only friend besides Piper (another dog).
My family has had several GR I'm more of a spanial person love cookers and Cavaliers also English Springers Why is it you have mostly large dogs?
