When vac'ing drywall dust i highly recommend putting a bag in the shop vac. I started doing this and it dramatically reduces filter clogging meaning the vac maintains suction for much long. I also feel like it does a better job keeping dust inside rather than possibly blowing some back out.
So just a black garbage bag lining the inside of the shop vac?
That sounds like a good idea 💡
We can't wait for the Collab video to come out! It was so much fun working with y'all:) Everyone prepare for a good time because it was a goofy week full of laughter!
waiting is hard
I love the fact that you put all of this in one video. I've seen other UA-camrs stretch this sort of thing out over several weeks so it is appreciated. 😀
Oliver was glad to help out! 😁
He was, telling them what to do, I see manager in him already! :)
I always transfer paint (if I intend to store it long term) in 1 gallon milk jugs AND I store the jug upside down so the solvent can not evaporate very well (if at all) Same goes for paint cans. If the seal between lid and can is good store the can upside down...
Thanks for the tip!
Courtney & Riley, great team work. Mom will love her new visit home. YOU GUYS ROCK!❤❤❤
…and SHEETROCK 😏
@@TruthIsNotTemporary Someone got it! Yeah!
Put a piece of cardstock under the trim when sawing to give a tiny bevel. Makes joints look tighter.
What a sweet child🥰. Blessed to have such great parents who will teach him terrific values just by their own example. You guys are wonderful people
Love the long episode. I have also really enjoyed this build. Thanks for the ride.
Just a tip for storing paint .After making sure lid on tight store the can upside down it keeps the air out
A couple of quick tricks from a 18 year General Contractor; use your hand saw for long cuts like that, that you used your plunge cut multitool for. Less noise and is faster. Two, on that long 5" strip you could have not cut off the 1/2" edge and cut a 4 1/2 piece and put it above the other piece as it was going to get corner treatment anyway so it didn't matter which piece overlapped which.
Very much appreciated _Swirly_ _Bird_ in the music! It was very subtle, but enough to trigger big smiles in me! Now I need to go listen to the whole thing!
The tiny house is looking amazing. I think your mom will be proud to call it her home away from home. Nice work guys.
As another person who tore a mountain apart to build my place in 1997. !! I I hauled 100,000 cu yds if material!! And built 3 rock walls 250’ x30. ‘ high. Out of 12’-4’ rocks !! My driveway took 3 weeks itself. Plus rocking the bank later. Built my new house too!! Septic, sewer /water also. I did roofing, drywall
Great job guys!!!!
Perhaps on your next project you might incorporate a reveal on your drywall edges. They look incredible awesome especially on the ceiling.
Courtney has magic fingers with that caulking! Awesome job !!
No kidding ever time I do stuff like that it looks like a 5 year old did it like I was messing with playdoh. 😢
Courtney is simply magic!
She definitely has magic fingers 😍😍
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. I have never had it go as easy as she makes it look.
Love the drywall work. I need to hire you. 😊Your little helper is precious. ❤
When I used to do drywall. I only sanded the roughest spots. I used a wetted spong or cloth to smooth the Sheetrock filler. Not any dust.
I liked the wood trim the first way. It gave the ceiling a little depth. I might do that same ceiling when I finish my garage close-in after seeing this.
Using a roller to paint with out a stick on the roller? So much easier. No bending. Long strokes and way faster. Time to watch more youtubes on painting with a roller.
Oliver is great!! So nice to see him included in your projects. Enjoyed watching the three of you working together on this project for grandma, I'm sure she will appreciate it so much more being able to watch it being completed.😀🙃
Courtney can even make tape & mudding look fun. Love the corners Courtney! Oliver is still the star of the show! Love is: sanding for your wife as a surprise 🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s
Someone else may have already made this comment, but since I haven't read through any of the previous 384 comments, here goes. A trick to filling screw holes easier, faster, & with much less sanding is to put a dab of mud on a corner of a 6" trowel & swiping across 4' sections of screws @ one time rather than filling each one separately. It takes about 1/4 the time & you don't have a splotch of mud around each screw dimple to sand off. Simply swipe down the middle of a row of screws, then swipe any extra mud from both edges. I can normally get the 3-4 layers of mud it takes to completely fill the screw dimples without ever having to sand between layers. Oh, one more thing. ALWAYS use vacuum bags in your shop vacs, whether it's in your drywall sanding vac or your standard shop vac. As long as you're using them on dry products, you'll never have to replace a filter again or need to clean out the tub & you'll have very little dust while using it or when dumping the vac into the trash.
Highly recommend a Pica pencil for all your cool tool belt needs! The sheath has a built in sharpener and it makes a great fidget toy when doing the obligatory standing in one place wondering what the next step of the plan is
Look for kitchen blenders at yard sale, for reblending paint that has glumpled. Yes do a test to see how and if it will dry.
Love the longer video, tiny self contained house looks fantastic
Wow!! What an outstanding job to both of you!! The amazing part is that your enjoyment, during the process, was evident!! No pressure but I look forward to each vid to see your creative solutions to problems and how you have a smile on your face at the end of the day!! Some people call it acting and there may be some of that but for you two, it’s the wonderful temperament you exude!! All and all, your vids make me happy!! Thank you so much!!
I really liked this longer episode and all the fun little moments.
All about the crash games here started on a whim now I can’t stop the excitement just builds 🚀
At first I thought the rounded trowel could be for super sized corner fillets until you took the mud out of the bucket. Ingenious!
It's called a bucket scraper. They are great for small concrete jobs as well.
Oliver and the hammer so cute!!!!
What an amazing team you three make!! Very satisfying watching the interior coming together. Great job!
Wow! You are making quick work of finishing the mama container!!
It's lovely to see Oliver getting involved too. ❤
Pro tip for taping especially for corners, rip the tape to length then place the tape in a bucket of water before applying, it is much easier to work with and applies without bubbling
Wow!! That little Tiny House is looking so great. It all goes to show you with the right tools, you can do anything.Keep up the good work.:)))
Love how 4ra keeps adding new features, always something exciting to check out 🔍
He's growing so fast, he will be as creative as you two
Courtney - that was CLEAN caulking girl!!!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Very interesting and entertaining build. Waiting to see if you use curtains on the windows or splurge and get LCD switchable film for the windows. Wishing you and your family the best. If your doing much drywall sanding you may also consider buy a water filled dust trap for your vacuum line. They sell kits but you could easily put one together with a few scraps you come across. It’s basically a bucket with a matching lid and a section on hose and fittings that allow you to put it in between the vacuum and the hose. The inlet fitting accepts the vacuum line on the outside and extends down into the bucket below about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way into the bucket. A good option would be a extension hose cut in half and glued into two holes in the lid. Filling the bucket with water above the extension into the bucket causes the air to be bubbled thru the water collecting all the drywall dust. The only think that ends up in the shop vacuum is at most a few drops of water. The mud in the collection bucket is very much like the stuff before you put it on the wall. Pondered trying to reuse it but since I had plenty of mud I didn’t risk it. 😂
I liked seeing your new monster truck driving down the road pulling those blocks. I had to wave like a maniac. Oliver now has SuperSize building blocks to play with. He's getting so big, so fast.
Thanks for showing the northern lights, it was cloudy here in the Midwest.
Just a little tip for the next time you go out to view the northern lights or a meteor shower. You need to find your viewing spot about a half hour before you want to view and just sit in the darkness without any artificial lights or screens. This will allow your eyes to dark adapt.
Love that 4ra lets us bet and get our winnings fast, no waiting like other places 🕒💰
Gentle folks, I ❤ to see Oliver smiling, that little boy is a very happy kid, Riley's genes, Courtney you won't have a sad moment with your two men ❤ you both 🇯🇲💯
Look to the left-hand side of the power point @40.41. She shouldn't tried skimming the wall.
@@subbab4 That'll be hidden by the kitchen units anyway. It's also a much better finish than I've seen from many modern home builds!
Wow could be a business by itself.
Murfey bed transformation. I want one.
❤ looks amazing guys. ❤ Oliver is growing up very quickly now. Just beautiful ❤. Sending lots of love from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤❤❤
Major points for listening to Jinks!
She is looking good and so is the tiny house 🙂
Mom is going to love it 💚💚
What a wonderfull video. You guys are so wholsome and happy.
It’s looks beautiful. Just a humble suggestion: next time use L shape plastic trim on drywall to get it mud and square corners it will be easier then applying molding. Even around the T&G ceiling. You can also use trufig outlets, mud in lights , linear diffusers and a Shadow mold trim at ceilings, doors , windows and base 😅. Count me in!!! I’m a new subscriber 🎉
+1 for spotting repeating patterns on flooring! I try to get the repeats as far apart as possible and break up the order in which they meet each other in the floor.
Oliver is so animated, I would be happy to watch him any time. What a cool kid.
Great video and the progress from container to tiny house is amazing, cannot wait to see the finished product
Thanks for the Northern Lights, here in Cape Town, South Africa we had the Southern lights at the same time.
Great fan of your work having built 3 houses
The tiny home looks great. Your mom is going to love it. Oliver is so cute and his cheeks don’t you want to pinch them. You 2 are so talented.
Hi guys, here's something I learned from my early days in the Coast Guard... whenever you open a new can of painting product, take a flat tip 🪛 and 🔨 and punch holes around the top where the lid goes. 3 or 4 holes usually worked well enough for government work!
Yep, totally old school. My dad taught me that years ago. Always punch my holes and keep my paint in the can instead of down the sides.
OR, you can get a plastic lid that closes off the rim, with a wipe-off stem, and a pouring spout. Like a modern person. Instead of a Neanderthal.
@@RussellNelson LOL that sounds like too much work 😆😆😆
If I haven't said it before I want to say it now, Courtney is the best taper and painter I have seen on any UA-cam video. And I have watched a lot of them. I have done a fair amount of taping and have commented on many videos to try to provide helpful hints at how to do it better. However I do not see anything Courtney could do to improve her job as she is spot on with every step of the process. She could be the gold standard in how to do drywall finishing.
The trick to doing drywall corners is to put plenty if compound in the corners to set the folded paper tape in, remove all excess. Second, and subsequent coats only apply only one side of the corner at a time, let it dry before doing the other side of the corner. This applies to both horizontal, and vertical.
Courtney, you do a very good job at taping.
After taping for over 40 years I only sand twice. I apply three level coats, then sand all. Prime the walls, touch up compound holidays then sand the entire wall to prime again.
Good evening from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Great job on the drywall, finishing, painting, and trim work. 🇺🇸
7:47 with the insert of this clip, the idea of watching you 2 collaborate on the editing of one of your segments, seems like a good segment to create…
What a transformation from a container to small house ....awesome....Stay safe and see you on the next one
I can’t wait for the WoodBrew collaboration!!!!!
Great job you two! Your Mama is going to love it She is blessed to have you in her life.
You guys are such a breath of fresh air. ❤
Well done guys. It's coming along together. Looking forward to the next video.
We need a Spotify playlist of all your great music!
I hope you guys were able to watch the northern lights through 11:15 PM that night. At 11 it popped dramatically and you could see the aurora in every direction.
That welcome bonus is not to be missed hooked me right in added a nice chunk to my first bets 💰
Wow, that did turn out great! 👍 👌 👏 I'm with Riley on the repeating patterns drive me absolutely INSANE!
Great job, you guys really accomplished a lot, can't wait to see the murphy bed. A murphy bed is perfect for a tiny home, as space is precious.
My painter decorator son-in-law taught us something about mudding that we didn’t know. Supposedly you should mud really really wide, like almost a foot away from the middle to get it really flat
Next time, if there is one... and you need to go to town to get trim, either buy a board that you'll need in the future, or, take a piece of pipe, or a board of course, and tape the trim to the board or pipe, to keep it rigid enough to not break. Or, Riley in all your skills at fabricating, build you an adjustable "T" mount that will slide into the receiver hitch, that will adjust up and down, and away from the truck, to haul such items. I have not seen one that would do all this, but have seen a variety of them. Also, something I really liked, it a guy built one and mounted a st of LED brake.tail lights on it, below(so as to not get in the way of what you are carrying, so it worked not only in place of a red flag thing, but also worked REALLY well at night.
Trim, add wood(or what you are using), till it looks good! Said an old carpenter friend of mine!
Wow that is so cool I totally called it in the video before this one I commented that a Murphy bed would be so cool even better a Murphy bed with the swivel rocker shelves so when the beds down nothing falls off also a pop-up or fold down table would be awesome too
Yeah, and the 4RA live betting feature is mind-blowing, feeling like a pro here 🌪️
You guys are doing an awesome job as a matter fact everything you work on turns out awesome I am so amazed with you guys as ability to build things and make things work plus, Oliver is super Duper Duper cute sending you guys love. I can’t wait for the next episode.
Totally agree about the LED lights, the old can lights were more expensive and more work to install
That tiny house is looking great, I wouldn’t mind having one like that
What? You've done to that little tiny home is amazing. It's beautiful and I like the color congratulations on. The wonderful job is a beautiful home
Watching Oliver I can see that there is a LOT going on in that precious little head, get ready soon enough You Will be taking orders ! 😆❤ I think he's holding back and is about to explode into a very smart little boy.
The little one looks really great, bright eye'd (not drugged via ... ) and acting very smart. He will make a great helper (if he isn't already)... 🙂
seeing the Northern Lights is on my bucket lights and now that I am retired I might get this done. Heading to Iceland in the near future
I really enjoy watching you two work as I've done most of the things you do. Today and in past taping jobs I've waited for someone to suggest a corner knife for taping inside corners. It will help greatly.
Great having Oliver on site. Parents did the same with bro & I in their upholstery & cabinet making shop. We learned to be perfectionists.
That flooring is gorgeous!!!!!
I love to follow your progress on this project. It's so enjoyable, and impressive.
I think I remember you said something about having it close to the workshop while building it, and worry about moving it later.
I'm so curious about how you'll move it.
Courtney, try this next time caulking: use a small tin of soapy water on your' finger to smooth caulking , smoother finish and no caulk sticking on your' fingers.
I am a painter for forty + yrs.
Gary
Next time you use paper tape, throw the roll in a bucket of water, then pull the tape out of the water as you use it.
Helps to fold it for corners and keeps it from bubbling when it dries.
We figured there would be too much light pollution here in Coeur dAlene to see the Northern Lights, so we drove up to Priest Lake. It was incredible to see, especially once the moon set it was super clear to see the reds and greens.
Tiny home is looking great.
The flat stud idea worked really well.
Your baby is sooooo adorable guys...! Oliver is one lucky guy...!!! Love him...!!! Awesome job guys, you all make me laugh too... Nice that you did the sanding part for Cortney Riley...! The northern light were cool... You both work so well together...! Beautiful job with the flooring too...!!!
nice to see you both again working so well together job well done
Next time you guys do drywall, I’m totally willing to come up and help you out. I could show you in person a bunch of techniques that you’ll love and make it much easier. Keep up the great work!🎉
Use those light fixture cutout “wheels” to make something for Oliver :)
You guys are amazing, and Oliver is an amazing helper ❤️
Looks like fun; youthful fun. I wonder about your site and other off-grid build sites. Eventually, you can build the Winchester mystery house for your audience, just keep adding on, and add stairs that go nowhere, 😄.
So much easier when you have pretty much every tool and gadget on the market 😊
Another fantastic episode! Production quality just gets better and better!
I love when you guys do longer videos.
You need to leave a 5mm (minimum) gap at the edges of the floor boards or they'll buckle when the humidity/temperature changes throughout the year. Also recommend putting a cloth down before hammering to avoid accidentally marking them.
Looks awesome though!
You both rock! It looks very nice. Looking forward to the grand finale.
