Nicely done by community and by Chimamanda herself. Highest traditional honors such as chieftaincy in Nigeria are bestowed on people of accomplishment, regardless of gender or otherwise and that is something to also be proud of.
CHIMAMANDA WE APPRECIATE GOD FOR YOU! BUT THIS IS NOT TIME FOR HONOURING YOU, WHEN FATHER'S LAND IS BLEEDING- FLOWING WITH INNOCENT BLOOD! I URGE YOU TO USE ALL YOUR GOD GIVEN PLATFORM, TO RISE AND DEFEND YOUR FATHER'S LAND LIKE QUEEN ESTHER DID IN THE BIBLE, B/4 IT IS TOO LATE! IT WILL PAY YOU MORE! MAY THIS WORDS GET INTO YOUR HEART IN JESUS NAME!
Congrats to our sister, but I would advice her as a writer to please not concentrate on writing on books based on Fiction but but write Nonfiction books that have a positive realistic impact on the ideology of people.
And I would advise you to actually read fiction. And if you do, to just process what fiction actually does for you. You may also watch her 2012 Common Wealth lecture as she makes a case for realistic fiction :) It's indeed instructive and delightful!! Love from the Pearl of Africa 🇺🇬 :)
While I respect her being awarded this merited title I still frown at the way our so called elders desecrate our tradition. I hv never seen nor heard of a woman being given a three hand shake in Igbo land let alone by an Eze, Igwe or an Obi. I hv nothing against the women, if they want to make it acceptably official, I think the entire Igbo tribe will hv to come together and officialise it so we don’t regard nor perceive it anymore as an unacceptable act.
Even this three-fold handshake is relatively new in Igbo culture. It wasn't in ancient Igbo culture. Ancient Igbos only greeted with "Igbo kwenu", not with a handshake. Culture is not rigid, it is dynamic
Tradition is made for the people , people was not made for tradition just it today, igwe of every community has the write to add anything to the culture
@@Thomaskraloww-l9o what did you know about tradition any tradition can be changed , i have seen some culture and tradition is dynamic if not it'll die ,
Our Igbo women are always honored and supported ...Im very proud of us 😊

Where's her husband? She's married.
Are you not seeing the white man beside her
What are we turning our culture into a woman as a chief I tire for una oo
Her name is pronounced wrongly making it meaningless.
If translated, it means *GOOD LORD (GOD) THANK YOU.*
You must be smoking expired marijuana ….

Culture is progressive
Even this three-fold handshake is relatively new in Igbo culture.
It wasn't in ancient Igbo culture.
Ancient Igbos only greeted with "Igbo kwenu", not with a handshake.
Culture is not rigid, it is dynamic
That u have not seen does not mean e no dey happen, any woman with the title chief is capable of taking that three hand shake
Abomination
Which one is Abomination?
