"Final Zone" is comprised of a 20 second loop that cuts off way too early in the original Sonic The Hedgehog soundtrack. Luckily, that cutoff point makes for one natural-sounding bridge point for my custom expansion, which I think integrates seamlessly into the original song. I wanted to end my work on the first Sonic game by playing up the intensity of this final boss battle with a more menacing take. Please note that I won't be tinkering with the ending theme, special stage, etc., as these tracks are fairly straightforward, and don't provide much in the way of room for expansions. It's time for another project, which will be announced soon!
Really nice variations on the military sound that Final Zone has. It adds to the tension of trying to survive in the chamber while the timer ticks away.

WHAT?! TWO Draven Drops in TWO DAYS? This is wild- I'm so excited~ 0:00 This song is already intense, and I love everything about it 0:25 What a SMOOTH baton pass from the original to the expansion~ You're right, that was a perfect cutoff! 0:35 So, did you watch Sonic SatAM while you were composing this? Because this is absolutely a theme I would expect to hear from that cartoon. It gives me a very macabre feeling, reminding me of something I'd hear in Dracula's castle. A dark, stormy night, lightning flashing and thunder crashing. It really fulfills the menace that the original theme sets up 0:50 The drum beat here gives me that militaristic vibe you were going for during the boss theme, which I shall relisten to shortly 1:00 That echo-y descent coupled with the slow tempo of these notes gives me a feeling that Robotnik is just laughing his head off, seeing only the path to finally ridding himself of that pesky hedgehog that's been pursuing him throughout the game 1:20 The main melody returns! I like to contrast this with another expansion you did of a really short loop: The Revenge of Shinobi's Labyrinth. While the latter's original melody was only reserved for the beginning and a final crescendo at the end, this Final Zone theme is woven seamlessly throughout this expansion~ I think this works as the Final Zone theme is really good at building tension, while Labyrinth constantly kept it at a high 2:20 This loop is fantastic 2:35 The harmony is such a great way to finish off the song - Robotnik's music continuing while hope is slowly building, and Sonic is Winning! 2:50 That final note being held, plus one final descent into the end of the song... 👌perfection~ Bye Bye, Ro-buttnik! And this Final Zone truly is the final for this series~ I understand why not do the Ending Song, as it's pretty much a complete song on it's own - nowhere left to go, I guess. But that's it for Sonic the Hedgehog, and another beautiful album down for MaestroDraven Absolute excellent work, sir 👏👏👏
DrVolk, love the breakdown as always! Thanks so much. Yeah, I'm going to stay away from the end song, because it's essentially a few hooks before it starts to migrate (badly, IMO) into samples of all the stage tracks. There isn't really anywhere for me to go with it. Same with the Special Stage song, so I left that one alone. Time to kick off a new venture!
I always felt cheated by how short the loop was after working so hard to get here. It could have been so epic if it was longer or had some elements of the first boss theme in it. Your version suits it well.
Awesome extension! You know, you've improved «Final Zone» better than «Eggman Theme». The tension of the final battle with Eggman is perfectly conveyed here, at 1:50 the music becomes quieter and at 2:05 the drum march begins again. Outro perfectly completes an epic battle! Wow! Damn, it would be awesome if you, MaestroDraven, made Expanded & Enhanced OST «Sonic the Hedgehog 8-bit». Because there are a couple of Zones that should get extensions.
Hey thanks! I've considered tackling 8-bit tunes, yes. A few are on the to-do list, but I'll probably do one-shots of a track or two, here and there. I just have to figure out the right approach, but I will keep 8-bit Sonic in mind.
OK, since this is the last video in this project, I would just like to take the time to say that although I didn't comment on all of the videos, I did check them all! Very interesting approach to each one of them! And as always, great job, Maestro! Can't wait to see what you do next!
Hi Maestrodraven, I really love the music remixes of the "Sonic the hedgehog" soundtrack. I do understand that you don't want to remix the ending theme, but are you sure you don't want to remix the special stage theme? The playlist seems incomplete without it!
I was thinking of it, but I think adding anything to that song may actually change its nature a bit too much for comfort. I've given it serious consideration, but I think the track itself actually benefits from a bit of hypnotic repetition. I think it would be different if it were say, a special stage from another Sonic game, but I'm gonna' leave this one alone I think.

I waited the entire playlist for the final zone because I knew you would do something amazing, thank you Maestro.
So glad you like it! Thank you.
The transition is so smooth you can make someone belive this is official, good job.
Thanks Chaos! That was the intention, to sidle right in quietly and neatly!
Sega needs to hire you! This is SICK!!

Están buenos tus remixes!!!, puedes crear uno de Sky Base Zone de Sonic 1 gmae gear/master system??
Dr robotnick dont like this video 😂
Exactly which CRT scanline filter did you use on this miniseries of videos?
Hi it's not actually a filter. It's a Photoshop overlay
Scrap brain versión Máster System 🙏🏻
You have to produce the game BURNING FORCE from MEGA DRIVE, the soundtrack was very cool.
