I raised my kids up singing Don's songs in the truck,on jobs, doing chores, and while training our horses. If we weren't just singing the ballads we had them playing in the tack room loud enough to hear while out in the round pen and arena and if mornings were quiet enough,he could be heard from the pastures. It always seemed that his voice calmed the horses, even our dogs seemed more at ease. He was our best example of a humble cowboy and we thank God he influenced so many like-minded folks on such a solid foundation of faith in Jesus Christ. He'll live on in ways in everyone that admired him. The way he could somehow put anyone into the songs he sung were irreplaceable, his lamp was not under his bed he shared so much cowboy culture history and the power of prayer. We're so grateful for his songs about appreciation to God for the most important things we often get astray and take for granted, like friendships, gratitude to God, or even the unique way a good horse can fill a void for mankind. Most importantly though he was a good example of a husband and a content man with a bold Christian soul. When the roundup on earth is all done... we all love our dear brother Don Edwards,we will see him again on the new range.
My wife and I had the opportunity to meet Don and watch him play in the living room of William S Harts home in Santa Clarita California several years ago. A great guy and a great performer of Western music.
I grew up on Don and Red, the times I have gotten to see them are so special to me. I wish I could hear him play Coyotes at the cowboy gathering one last time. Such a special talent and pure soul. He will be very missed!
I saw Don at Copper Mountain West Fest several times in the 1990's, I was blessed to see him preform. I plan to see him preform on the other side some day.
Have enjoyed his music for years now, sad to hear of his passing, would have loved to have meant him, seemed like a special guy. Fly high Don, your spirit lives on. Condolences to the family.
Very sad i just found out he died, i cowboyed in the 1990s and this man was my fav. God bless, i sand a many of his songs in the saddle and had the tape and cd playing in the truck.
