Tony hawk is so freaking cool. He’s so down to earth and nice to his fans. Probably one of the nicest famous people.
Dude, that is adorable. In 2:14 you can tell from Tony Hawk's body language that he is nervous. He is covering his own wrist which is a sign of vulnerability. He's Tony freaking Hawk. He has been a household name for years and he still gets nervous about guests and interviews. How awesome is that.
This turned out so great.. I’m 42 this year and still skating. Big thumbs up 👍 Tony comes across like the oracle he is.
Great interview, i skated with Tony and and Ray Barbie in 1989 , when they came to South Africa. Tony has always been an upstanding respectful person...........very clever guy aswell.

Tony getting choked up about real shit is the most humble thing I’ve ever seen man, inspirational! That was a true vid bro! Much respect to you 🤙🏻 and of course to the man himself!
tony hawk is just a special freaking breed. noone on earth is that good and still that humble. the unique way he came up. being clean. and not partying and kinda being so good that it was foreign to the normal hard partying vert guys. just made them not respect him. and he felt he needed to be the best to be accepted. and yet they didnt really accept him until THEY grew up and smartened up. he used to get spit on by those a holes. so its just something that will never be seen again. the very most dominant guy by miles, is also just so humble and cool. look at alva. fame ruined that guy. he was the most self centered. so for hawk to come out the ringer like this, may have been very hard on him. but its the biggest blessing.
Great video. A little awkward just hanging out and skating makes this so much more real. Watching each person kind of process what to talk about and say next and being more spontaneous is great to watch over the same canned questions and robot responses. Everyone was cool.
Yeah, i wish more interviews were done this way. It makes it more interesting to the viewer and keeps you more in tune with the conversation instead of just talking heads
I liked his first rock n roll frontside from his autobiography. I was the only skater in my middle school at the time. That book resonated so hard 🥺
A moment like this would be amazing for me. I started skating in 1986 at 8 years old. My father there's nothing in skateboarding. I am just happy to see that in 2021 there are a ton of "somethings" in Skateboarding. At 43 my only goal was to have a published photo, either that I took or with me in it. Or that skaters would use my music in a video. I love that you skate Welcome Boards. Even though in the 80's I was a Gonz and Hosi guy. Then the 90s was all street for me. I was the guy that hated on Tony for skating in early "street" competitions, and him winning. I used to hate to see the commercials and all the "hype". Then I started seeing how it really was advancing what I love to do. Yet skating still has it's essence. An old man, like myself can go cruise a bowl in most any city. A person like myself can encourage youth as they start to find a love for the same useless board. Even seeing old people just starting, amazes me. I think we all owe it to Tony in some ways.

Tony hawk was my first skateboard .. 1994 way before it was cool to skate . I’m still ripping today keeping the light burning .. let’s. Gooo baby never quit what you love to do ..

This is a GREAT interview with Hawk!!! It's in the middle of the ramp chilling and reminds me of every great conversation I have ever had at any skatepark with my friends. Really really good stuff!

At the beginning, it’s just warehouse tour. I wasn’t really in to it. But, the ending of the video, that open my eyes and so inspired me. I’m very thankful to make this footage then let us to watch it.

I was skating when it first blew and when the search for animal chain came out I re-created that ramp out of cereal boxes! We didn’t even have legit fingerboards back then we had little cheesy ones but I was the first one I ever saw to create a fingerboard ramp out of honeycomb and Froot Loops! LOL this video made me feel oldHe seems so starstruck! Thanks for the video man tons of great content!It’s crazy to me to think that everything For everyone else was at that moment he did the 900 I had watched him for so many years before that he was already such a legend! Not trying to take credit just my age I guess like he was saying but he was already such a pioneer! Tony hawk and Chris Miller were my favorites from back in the day!
I also remember not many of us young 90s skaters not liking hawk much I think he was just to huge in the 80s everyone I new were all Rodney fan's he was the real underground skate star of the 90s even if he had no idea lol
I came up in the mid late 80’s and the Powell Hawk deck was definitely one of the most wanted out there.
I love the way you can see how genuine Tony’s integrity is. It’s really apparent by the way he speaks. I ended up becoming really focused on listening to him talk; there was something I couldn’t put a finger on at first that instantly stood out to me. I don’t know why but for one reason or another I needed to figure out what the “thing” was.. I think I needed to have an answer for myself in order to feel like I was accurately able to understand him and his insights on a personal level.. also to trust my judgment of his character.. ( not that it. Makes a damn difference to anyone other than myself haha). But anyways I think what it was that was catching me off guard or sticking out to me was just his level of integrity with just being as real and just himself as a person possibly could be..the moment that revealed this to me was when he was talking about calling ea after the 900! I don’t think everyone will understand the impact of the level of accomplishment he’s trying to point out. Like in his mind the thought of that trick being available in the game, without him actually having first completed it, just didn’t even exist. It’s not that there’s conspiracies about it being a marketing thing, it’s that businesses trying to appeal to masses often times don’t share the same level of integrity he just displayed. That’s what people don’t trust.. but it’s such a second hand/ natural way tony carries himself that he doesn’t even occur to him at all....
Ahh idk. I just spent so much time blabbing on but it just really fascinated me!

Wow, awesome interview! I'm the same age as Tony and have followed his success over the years and still skate myself. He really branded himself the perfect way and will always be the main name in skating, my opinion at least. I kind of disagree with him about the perception of skating in the late 70s and early 80s, we were all skating back then and it was really most of our main means of transportation (and fun when there was no waves). Maybe when it came to competition I guess but I remember it being very popular back then. Keep up the great work, really like the interviews you do!
We desperately need more skateparks in the more suburban areas in east coast Pennsylvania , all these skating achievements are mind boggling 👏🏼

Speaking of the video game I always loved the creator on pro skater, my creations were always trying to re-create the old-school waterslide style progressive ramp they did at raging waters way back in the day that I never got to skate in real life! He’s a legend just for that video game it is still better even being on an old system then a lot of theGames today. Did anyone on here happen to skate that old ramp at raging waters? I would love to see a video of that! I’m pretty sure Tony did it back in the day

I remember being in the 4th grade and watching The Tract Ulman Show with my parents
just because I was waiting for the commercial breaks because that’s when The Simpsons original short cartoon skits came on & that was so cool.
There’s still nothing like that , it was an all original concept to have a cartoon show within a show but it was just a quick short and it actually lead to Thee Original OG Gangster Style Cartoon Show that was partially or more so for the parents , then The Simpsons became ish own landmark show and is still going STRONG .

I started skating early 90s I remember a lot of people hated it but at my school you were only cool if you skated lol I don't think it was very mainstream at the time but it was huge for millions of kids I keep hearing the pros of the time saying skating was dying out at the time but I think it was just sizzling there millions of kids who skated behind Safeways and bike racks lol
People were still rocking out in the 90’s for sure.
I skated through an airport, it checks out , you can't look like you are having fun and pop off the board near turns , this was within a month of 9-11
