@@apoorvabhatt7142 banking is service sector so service sector is all about dealing with more and more customers , it is always profitable for the bank to keep it open till 9-9:30 as people can come after there work is over , PSB do not focus much on targets I believe there should be incentives for cross selling and also if someone can't achieve targets on a regular basis he should not get any promotion and increments then only we can be amongst the top banks of the world this mediocrity of having peace of mind and going back to family are just incompetent socialist tricks .

I respect that how much concern you are for the economy and yes don't compare psb's with the private bank coz they don't have to deal with every type of population in our country not only the priviliged customers we have to deal with every type of customer and yes we do receive daily targets and yes we also get a call from the higher authorities threatening us for relocating at difficult centres. I work in PNB as a SWO A and posted in a scale 3 branch near Kolkata. I have to work in cash counter at the same time I do RTGS , NEFT, Transfer, KYC , Account opening , Giving Statements , Printing passbooks. But we don't have any sales target Usually I work till 5:30-6 pm.There are instances where I have to work till 9. But as I have worked in TCS as a developer this bank job is not hectic for me. I want to stay in my home city kolkata or atleast within in west bengal as long as possible. In pnb till scale 2 you can manage to stay in your home state if you have strong relation with union. I want to know case of SBI? Will SBI clerk be better for me? What is the chance of getting posting in kolkata? As inter circular transfer is not allowed in sbi. I don't have experience of selling. In Sbi if I take promotion from clerk to TO how much chance will be there to stay in Kolkata? And how long can I remain in home city and state?
yiou will be asked to do multiple tasks in sbi targets will be there and work pressure will be more compared to all other banks, If you join as clerical you can manage to be in WB usually only fortunate one gets home postsing even in clerical cadre.

Please explain what do u mean when u say...u look at the plight of officers and which makes u think it's better to be JA and have stable salary and job with lesser responsibility and stress: 1. Is it only about sitting late night till 8-9? 2. Do they don't get leaves? 3. Do they have to do promotional activities on Saturday Sunday also? 4. Do the officers always looked down by seniors if they fail to sell mutual fund, insurance, credit card? 5. Do Officers really suffer from hypertension and other physical and mental illness?
I never say it is better to be JA. I am saying what happens in reality. But now, in this generation, retail banking is changing. JA does take promotions. It takes time to change the legacy. Pressure is there for all employees. Nobody stops JA to take promotions. It is one’s own wish whether they want to become officer or not. It is a perspective. I just show the reality.

If you don’t take promotion, you will be kept in a branch for 5 years provided there are no vacancies in nearby branches. After that you will be transferred to some nearby branch. After promotion, it all depends on management where they will post you.

Happiness kahi par vi nehi ha bro....when i was clerical i was able to reach home at 5:30 but then life gets to boring after that....but now as a scale 3 official i usually leaves branch at 8:30...but i hv no regret..i get to see my family and In sm point in life you will just stop enjoying it and start earning it cause you can leave the job after earning a lot
