Explore a new musical universe with Alan Meyerson, as he takes you inside the award-winning soundtrack to Dune.
In this new series, Alan zooms in on the blockbuster’s musical score, composed and produced by Hans Zimmer. Join him as he explores the mix of “Leaving Caladan”, the instantly recognizable cue featuring performances by Guthrie Govan, Tina Guo and Loire Cotler.
As Alan works his way through the arrangement, he shares his essential techniques for creating highly immersive mixes in quadraphonic sound. With the help of specialist tools, he demonstrates how he creates depth, dynamics and density with only four channels. From weighted panning to “rotation-based” dynamics processing, you will learn an array of new techniques for crafting standout multichannel mixes.
Alan’s masterful balance all comes together within his custom mixing matrix. He offers an up-to-date look at this, with a focus on his bus processing and stem management strategies. These elegant solutions enable him to make mix tweaks on the fly, while ensuring a maximum level of flexibility during the final dub.
The way he says "Hans' mix ... my mix" with the switchover is just epic. So much flex.
LOL i was about to say this exact thing. but you said it way better. Epic Flex and i love it
I've always thought "God, Hans' stuff must sound so good, even before mixing. Is there any mixing to be done?" Well... yeah. There is ^^' It's normal to be humbled when your stuff gets mixed. It's suppose to suck at least a bit :P
Mix with the Masters bringing so many BANGERS lately holy moly
Alan is a beast. Loved his previous videos. I use his MaxxBass trick on my snares everyday.
which trick do you mean? can you tell me which mwtm vid he explains it in? would be much appreciated :)
Man tell me what that trick is or where can I find the video/source where he talks about it
One of the best scores. Ever.
Cool!
That's some high end shit man
We want to hear the full version of FOALS x Hans Zimmer track called Neptune. It was released 2 years ago for some bbc documentary but we heard only 50 second piece. Why wouldn’t anyone release the full? I mean, musicians worked on the full track but time one just hiding it from people. What a shame
What a great guy is Alan !!!!
I've been making music/beats since I was 21 I'm turning 34 in September I'm thinking about making the switch over to audio engineering I just hope I didn't wait too late to make that switch
naah man this is actually the right time...i am also 33 & switching to mixing/mastering...
@@Pranav9977 which route you taking school or self taught
He know too much.
Zimmer's kinda dull to me. What am I not hearing?
you're not hearing the Hollywood factor. When someting commercially "works", Hollywood always want to repeat it...until it doesn't work anymore. HZ knows how to surf on that. Before being an art, making movies is a business, especially in US. I will never forgive producers of Blade Runner 2049 to have excluded Jóhann Jóhannsson. Denis Villeneuve was obliged to coat this exclusion with "dull" words : “The thing I will say is that making movies is a laboratory. It’s an artistic process. You cannot plan things. Jóhann Jóhannsson is one of my favorite composers alive today. He’s a very strong artist. But the movie needed something different, and I needed to go back to something closer to Vangelis. Jóhann and I decided that I will need to go in another direction - that’s what I will say. I hope I have the chance to work with him again because I think he’s really a fantastic composer.” And JJ was obliged to contractually shut his mouth. He died less than a year afterwards. HZ is not a bad composer, I listen to some of his work with pleasure, but we hear him too much, he takes up too much space in the film industry.
