wow! even though it might be considered just a quick tip, it actually helped me a lot! i am a graphic and motion designer on professional level so i m kinda used to vectors, pixels, shapes yada yada ... i m also at least familiar with scene compositing and lighting due to after effects and blender / 3ds max yet I never really did 3d modelling - now, as i m trying to get a bit into modelling to get at least mediocre skills, this basic gear tutorial already helped me out a lot by telling me all the handy hotkeys - i guess there is no way around learning all those blender hotkeys to be able to do propper and efficient modelling. your way of teaching your steps is awesome! not too slow, yet still in a manner that People can follow along without getting lost. I think i m gonna start to watch all of your channels videos right now. keep it up man!
@@wyimaginowanykot2004 thanks, I'm really glad it helped. Just keep in mind it's a lot of polys and depends on your use if you want to use a texture rather than geometry.
i 3D print gears for a friend's RC helicopter from time to time using the Gear generator addon, but this looks like a fun thing to let your imagination go wild on - plus it's good to see someone who knows what they're doing and having at the same time (under pressure of kids waking, as well) - will defo recommend :)

Blender 3.3.0 - 4:34 I discovered a problem with the Bevel Modifier when you APPLY it.. Outside/Inside normals and duplicate edges. Now, It does happen with Blender 2.8, but at least I can merge duplicate vertices and that fixes the problem. Also Blender 3.3.0 at 4:10 the "I" short is now one click for some reason.

Hello! m using blender 3.5....when I apply loop tool , circle, I am getting a different kind of circle where.. the outer most layer of the circle, where you have a vase with a flat base/ like a funnel head, there only one arm of funnel is moving out while the other is remaining straight..so the symmetry of the outer layer isn't balanced...which makes the later deleting of inside faces non symmetrical...how to handle this issue...please guide...thx!
I recently got into Blender, before this I mostly used Zbrush. I had a question about topology for objects that you use a subdivision modifier on for games. I'm used to completely constructing topology for high rez objects by hand, does that workflow remain the same for subdivisions? Or can I basically just take out some of the edgeloops to make a low rez mesh? (context is doing it for games/to port the objects over to a game engine)
it seems hey made a little mistake you may encounter that the model may look wierd when using it outside blender the normals seems to be inverted press space/f3 and search *flip normals*
You may have to enable Loop Tools in Blender preferences if it's not enabled. Try to right click on selected vertices to see if it shows up in your menu.
It is a Blender add-on that you need to enable. Go to Edit / User Preferences / and search for "Loop Tools". When you find it, check the box beside it and it will be available in the menu, Shift-A while you are modeling.
You might need a better video card or more ram. Either way, just try to render a smaller image size with not too many samples (try 150 samples with denoising on). Good luck!

I like the idea of making the teeth separate, so you can change the number of teeth but keep the base circle for the body of all the other gears.
Yes that is a good reason. However it is a lot of polys and even better to do this as a normal map in blender or texture on substance painter.
Thank you for the lesson. I learned a lot of useful techniques along the way.

I'm not sure. Will have a look around and see if I can find anything.
Can you check that your polys are all facing outwards. Select all the vertices and press alt-n ans then recalculate putside and try again.

Yes, I woukd suggest either removing as many edge loops as possible or simply modeling the object from scratch without subdivision. Good luck
