Her little ballet shoes on the coffin. I have been teaching ballet, tap, modern, contemporary, to children from kids of 3 up to ***ty-three all my life. Kids who love dance are amongst the brightest and kindest, in these over 40 years of experience. Here in Spain where I've lived for many years, we had one of our pupils murdered by her adoptive parents, back in 2013. Apart from how horrible it all was, those who were very close to her have never got over it. And we won't. We've learned to live with it. The killing of these little dance pupils just brought it all back in a wave of shock. Thoughts with their families.
The ballet shoes broke me, too. I have videos and photos of my granddaughter's ballet class. She lives in Bavaria and is 7 years old in 5 days. They look so very sweet, fragile, and focused. None of the children stood a chance against their savage attacker. I doubt we will ever forget this unbelievable tragedy.
RIP Alice. She looked such a happy little girl and that is a testament to her family. May it bring comfort to them to know that of all the parents in the world Alice could have had, she had them.
