i agree with u also tho its not finished me and my roommate a while back started our on hack. its alot harder savestates are recommended timing is needed(there are some annoying parts i will admit :P) but best of all u dont need to tas at all, my roommate designs them and i play them to make sure they are beatable
Tool-Assisted Speedrun. You slow down the game to like 10% of the original speed, check values for your character (eg. speed), load states when you mess up, manipulate chance to get required items easier (like getting rupees in Zelda from bushes), etc.
this was one of the first youtube videos i ever saw, and the very first super mario world romhack i had ever seen. fun times thinking this was done by a human LOL
@InuYashafanboyee Wall-jumping in SMW is an unintended side effect of the game's collision mechanics. The top of each block, even in the wall, is a solid surface. Walls stop Mario by ejecting him in the next frame rather than predicting his collision and preventing it. If you enter a wall at the height of a block's top surface, you have 1 frame during which you can jump from it. Does that make more sense?
Also, in the original SMW (as well as others,) wall jumps are available, but they are usually a frame-perfect glitch. The TAS allows for consistent frame-perfect glitches, so the tool doesn't add those things in, but makes them more consistently available, iirc.
The song from the second level? I think it is the night time song from the level in DK64 that you can change from lunar to sun, I will look up the name.
i believe that song is from grabbed by the ghouls, i couldn't tell at first but it did sound familiar i only think so because i very recently played the game.
I can't quite tell but I THINK that the music for the ghost house is from Mad Monster Mansion in Banjo-Kazooie, or maybe a remix of it. Not sure though.
That's just what I was wondering. You don't see that in any of the other incredibly difficult Mario level playthroughs that have been posted to youtube...
Actually, my guess is since the sync gets worse over time you compiled the video with either the 2 pass average frame rate setting or the constant frame rate setting. Most compilers have 3 settings in in this case variable frame rate would have possibly eliminated this. Check through your source media with something that can display frame rate to you such as fraps. If there is any FPS flutter you need to select variable frame rate for the finished product.
Oh i didn't know you could run up them, thanks. But in the beginning it looked to me like your head was hitting them as you spin bounced. regardless if I'm mistaken or not, it was an enjoyable video
I played the first kaizo version. It was ok and i think its a beginner hack for people who wanna try a new hard world. I was able to beat everything plus the special world. In no way i would be able to play those levels in this video here. They are just insane compared to kaizo. At least for the first kaizo version. Im not sure about newer versions cos i never saw them^^
I think the title refers to the kaizo genre, not the game. Like it's "above" the entire classification. Nope. High-end kaizo is way past this, look up item abuse 3.
Anyone know the what the music is from on the Sunken Ghost Ship level about six minutes in? It kinda sounds like the regular Ghost House music in the beginning.
It's him. He plays the Game frame by frame, or to discribe it in another way, in extreme slowmotion. He also uses savestates so that he can restart from where ever he wants to.
Aw, thanks. That means a lot to me. I do other digital artwork as well on my DA page if you ever wanted to take a look. Either way, thanks a bunch for the compliment. =)
Ah, you're running into the same desync problem I got. I used YAAI to resync the audio. Also, at the end, could you not have waited for the platform to be in the right place and then hit the goal as to not deal with going over everything?
um....is there a video of how to use these glicthes cux ima need it like....bad in order to evev get past....the first 5 seconds of the game. im good at mario...but kaizo is a whole nother story in general i epically suck at kaizo. i died so much in kaizo mario world 1 i had to sit there and spend a week on lvl one in slow motion
If you could answer this question, it'd be greatly appreciated. When you say TAS, it is a Tool-assisted run, please correct me if I'm wrong. Exactly what kinds of tools are used for the game? Would it be something as simple as save states, or something more or so complex. Please respond, Kaizo or someone who has a better understanding of the rules of TAS (if any) or anything used. Thanks.
well, i see this hack can be played using savestates( no TAS) it's hard, but no imposible with savestates, unlike kaizo pack from my viewpoint can't be played without TAS
i do respect those that can make these, seeing as how they're custom made levels, but you cant honestly say there were no cheat used in the clearing of this. several instances in which he woulda died if it was normal 0:40 for one,0:32 for another, 1:00 alot of stuff really and im not taking the time to count them all out. its still fun watching these though and the guys who were clever enough to actually create these complex lvls have my admiration
did you read his comment?!"Those aren't tools, they're glitches. Tools are things to help you make the run, such as savestates of frame advance. Glitches are errors in the game that have unintended effects, like jumping off walls or in midair."
No.. It's a TAS he lands in between two pixels at the maximum speed mario can move which forces him in the block for a single frame that you can jump out of.
"Wellcome"
First word in the game and they've already fucked up.
I didn't even notice xD
tibschris i guess he wanted to seemed like hellcome, got it?
I don't mind if they hack games into hardest versions of them, but what is the point of creating a hack that's only playable by TAS?
i agree with u also tho its not finished me and my roommate a while back started our on hack. its alot harder savestates are recommended timing is needed(there are some annoying parts i will admit :P) but best of all u dont need to tas at all, my roommate designs them and i play them to make sure they are beatable
This is definetely playable by a human.
0:29 just, the song, zelda, pure awesomeness
Tool-Assisted Speedrun. You slow down the game to like 10% of the original speed, check values for your character (eg. speed), load states when you mess up, manipulate chance to get required items easier (like getting rupees in Zelda from bushes), etc.
0:07 they spelled welcome wrong lol
this was one of the first youtube videos i ever saw, and the very first super mario world romhack i had ever seen. fun times thinking this was done by a human LOL
2 years after I still couldn't even. Guess what? Still can't.
Man this game brings up a lot of my past childhood memories.
2 years later.
I STILL CAN'T EVEN.

@InuYashafanboyee For the record, this video is a TAS (Tool-Assisted Speedrun). It wasn't performed in realtime.
Also, in the original SMW (as well as others,) wall jumps are available, but they are usually a frame-perfect glitch. The TAS allows for consistent frame-perfect glitches, so the tool doesn't add those things in, but makes them more consistently available, iirc.

Lol the Ghost House theme at 1:29, is that the Mad Monster Mension song from Banjo-Kazooie? XD
Load save states. These are done on a frame by frame basis, with numerous save states made throughout
i believe that song is from grabbed by the ghouls, i couldn't tell at first but it did sound familiar i only think so because i very recently played the game.
I like how the music in the big boo house is the creepy castle theme from Donkey Kong 64
Do you notice the TAS in the title?
At 3:19 ...I know it's possible to safely land on chomps after a level is beaten, but even at the correct pixel, I don't know how that worked.
@AlexFolland Oh I know. It's still hard to do with tools though, unless you really know how to use them
At welcome screen message. Already a typo. :(

@Kaizoman666 Oh that makes sense. The platform is a sprite, so it'll disappear.
@InuYashafanboyee It does if you're TASing it. One can't realistically repeatedly perform it in realtime.
1:27 - Gragh, that music sounds familiar! Anyone know what it's from?
TAS lets one use frame-advance, save states and whatever they can do without changing the game. He most likely just kept jumping and pressing up.
The sound drifts ahead of the video pretty badly by the end.
he stopped playing mario but he is starting in december 2012
Oh i didn't know you could run up them, thanks. But in the beginning it looked to me like your head was hitting them as you spin bounced. regardless if I'm mistaken or not, it was an enjoyable video
i didnt know youtube audio could get desinked
+the rave dj furry If you upload a video with desynced audio, it'll remain desynced on youtube.
Thank you very much. I'm assuming this is the Ghost House music?
What's the name of the music in the Ghost House, and does that Mario remix have a name?
where to get that version of that creepy castle theme ?? it is so awsome :'(
only the wall jumps are due to an edit in the rom. you can do everything else in smw
you can wall jump without this
In no way is this worse then kaizo
I played the first kaizo version. It was ok and i think its a beginner hack for people who wanna try a new hard world. I was able to beat everything plus the special world. Its called a TAS for a reason... and wall jumps are possible, they are just frame-perfect, or near frame-perfect
Anyone know the what the music is from on the Sunken Ghost Ship level about six minutes in? It kinda sounds like the regular Ghost House music in the beginning.
What music plays at 5:05? It sounds like it's from Mario, but it's a remix of some sort that I don't know about.
OMG what is the successful rate? It’s harder than jumping off a dam and then catching a jet plane and soaring up, like in Charlie’s Angles
Looks like Mario was lost in the woods during level 1.
The Sunken Ship theme. Is that from Earthbound?
5:05 what music is this? is has the mario beats, but it doesn't come to mind what song it is.
It's just the original theme remixed
what was your first clue? the head hitting the black piranha plants or him running straight up them without a star?
Epic choice of music for the 1st level
It's him. He plays the Game frame by frame, or to discribe it in another way, in extreme slowmotion. He also uses savestates so that he can restart from where ever he wants to.
@AlexFolland yeah
But that doesn't make it any easier to perform
You could upload the game Mario World (smc format) to mediafire or 4shared? not as open files ips.
KAIZOMAN do you think it's posible play kaizo and don't die, but without the use of TAS?
Kaizoman666, what is the ghost house music and where can I find it? I want it and the forest music too. Can you help me.please!
it's the rope glitch when you're on a rope and crash with a wall you get what you saw at 9:30-9:32
Loving your TASes (is TASes the plural of TAS? xD).
Good job!
How the heck do you get custom music into the game?
(How to import Ocarina of Time music?)
We do both, but sometimes making an impossibly hard game is just a lot of fun.
@Kaizoman666i tried that and the level messed up and how do you do wall shell jumps at 6:16
This hack is NOTHING compared to Cool or Cruel. (MAKJANG QUALITY)
How float near the walls?
2:57 In this part, for example, do it too much
I can't even.
I will never understand the physics of "walljumping" in this game. It confuses me...
" Wellcome "
Aw, thanks. That means a lot to me. I do other digital artwork as well on my DA page if you ever wanted to take a look. Either way, thanks a bunch for the compliment. =)

Also, at the end, could you not have waited for the platform to be in the right place and then hit the goal as to not deal with going over everything?
Why is it possible to jump off the walls ?
Because walls are made of blocks, and blocks have corners, which you jump from.
For some reason the sky adventure level reminds me of Pianta Village from Sunshine
@Kaizoman666 i tried that and the level messed up and how do you do wall shell jumps
8:37 this song sound very familiar! I dont know in which game i heard it b4?
It's the forest theme from Yoshi's Island.
0:28 best music for a Mario game
actually, is from the legend of zelda: ocarina of time...
What is the custom music on the ghost house? I liked it too much!
Creepy Castle from Donkey Kong, I think? It's a sort of 16-bit remix of it.
um....is there a video of how to use these glicthes cux ima need it like....bad in order to evev get past....the first 5 seconds of the game. im good at mario...but kaizo is a whole nother story in general i epically suck at kaizo. i died so much in kaizo mario world 1 i had to sit there and spend a week on lvl one in slow motion

5:04 Where i get this altered Version of Super Mario bros Musics?
Thanks a bunch! If I find out your song, I'll do my best to return the favor!
Now do it again, no TAS, no deaths.
Is the music from DK64?
does the song at around the 5 minute mark have a name or is it just Mario in minor?
well, i see this hack can be played using savestates( no TAS) it's hard, but no imposible with savestates, unlike kaizo pack from my viewpoint can't be played without TAS
Though it looks difficult as fuck, the level design and overworld is great. Definitely might give this a try.
i love the music in some of these
Aw man how come the "new version" doesn't have the custom music?
man, theres somin about pikbube's hacks that are jus so entertaining to watch.
i do respect those that can make these, seeing as how they're custom made levels, but you cant honestly say there were no cheat used in the clearing of this. several instances in which he woulda died if it was normal 0:40 for one,0:32 for another, 1:00 alot of stuff really and im not taking the time to count them all out. its still fun watching these though and the guys who were clever enough to actually create these complex lvls have my admiration
I meant like THAT, not literally impossible.
ya and it would be funny to see him attempt this romhack
did you read his comment?!"Those aren't tools, they're glitches. Tools are things to help you make the run, such as savestates of frame advance. Glitches are errors in the game that have unintended effects, like jumping off walls or in midair."
@Kaizoman666 i tried that that and the background turned white and the level was messed up
I want to see him play an invisible coin block mod. NOTHING BUT INVISIBLE COIN BLOCKS.
I guess wall kicks WILL work
It's a Mimiga from the game Cave Story. =)
Is this version still available somewhere? (the version in the link is different)
is the ghost hosue from pokemon? the music i mean
Wow, those look atrociously difficult! XD
Other than the issue of the sound desynching, I thought this video was awesome.
YOU ARE AMAZING! PLEASE PLEASE PLAY MORE!
from which game is the music of the ghost house? (second level)
No.. It's a TAS he lands in between two pixels at the maximum speed mario can move which forces him in the block for a single frame that you can jump out of.
So touching an enemy and not dying is a glitch?
Can anyone tell this music from 1:28 to 2:55? Please :-)
Blah, you're basically walking in the air and hitting enemies directly without dying...
I don't think you know what a TAS is
why did they have to put loz ( legend of zelda ) for the first song
I didn't know you could wall jump in SMW.
