'Never too Late': 85-Year-Old Man Gets Baptized at Greg Laurie's Historic Pirate's Cove Event

- As thousands of people lined the stony pathways leading to Pirates Cove, an elderly man made his way down to the water to publicly express his commitment to the Lord. It was a moment the 85-year-old man's family thought would never come, yet the eternal decision was made Saturday during a mass baptism hosted by Pastor Greg Laurie, an event that saw 4,500 people submerged in water over the course of a faith-filled day.
The event, inspired by "Jesus Revolution," a hit film depicting events surrounding the Jesus movement of the late 1960s and 1970s - a time of spiritual transformation when young people, tired and desperate from a challenging culture, turned to Christ in droves. The film, among other powerful stories, weaves in Laurie's journey from a lost young man experimenting with drugs and trying to find his way to a Christian, husband, and revered preacher. The film's global impact continues to reverberate, with Saturday's baptism drawing people from across the globe.
"At one point, the line really got slowed down because an older couple - the gentleman was 85 years old - was taking longer to get down the stairs," Laurie told CBN's Faithwire. "But when we met him, his story was so amazing because he watched the movie at 85 years old and accepted Jesus into his life." Laurie said the man "was not a believer" before seeing the movie, but that he accepted Christ afterward, and then headed to Pirate's Cove - the location Laurie himself was baptized as a young man - to publicly affirm his faith in Jesus.
"His family said, 'We never. ever thought he would come to Christ," Laurie said. The man is just one of many to be ministered to through "Jesus Revolution," with great storytelling helping bring him along the path to better understand the Gospel message.

Amen! It's never too late. My mom was 98 when she became a Christian.
There is a limit that's when your not here anymore to except Christ as your saviour. So to say "it's never to later" that's a lie.
As long as you are alive and breathing, have breath in your body, it is
never too late to come to Jesus and be saved forgiven of your sins,
you are never too old.
If you are old and get saved and baptised then that is the wonderful love mercies and grace of God at work drawing all men to himself. So respond, do not harden your heart?
I am so glad that the pastor explain the meaning of baptism. Most people believe that baptism can save a person. I still believe that most of them came because of the hype and the movie. This reminds me of John the Baptist baptism. It would be great to follow up on these people.
If you get baptized without excepting Christ as your saviour well that's just a waste of time.

It's wonderful to know the tradition continues at Pirate's Cove, the excitement of new birth. I was baptized there by Pastor Greg in the summer of 1972, just a heartbeat ago.

My parents were in their 70s when they accepted the Lord. I never gave up on them and witnessed to them from the beginning since I got saved.
I always prayed for their salvation. God is faithful.

First comes faith then baptism...Jesus said go and teach first and the whoever belives and be baptized will be saved...and genuine faith always will produce good fruit a transformation...but just to be baptized wont save if i dont have a genuine faith.
Alot of people believe and never get the chance to be baptized that's ok. But someday you'll want to be baptized. You can still be saved with that personal relationship with Yeshua. And these days church is becoming obsolete. With it on internet. You don't have to leave your bed or chair.
Jesus does say to meet up with fellow believers and draw strength with #'s. Pray for each other. But it's not a command and it's not a Sin not to go to church. So many people have been taught lies lies lies all their life that not going to church is a SIN. That's not truth. Having a personal saviour is more important. He is with you wherever you go. You can have service right where you are GOD is good Peace 🙏

I think- a few weeks ago- my answer would have been repent and be baptised, but the more I consider it,

We can’t do anything to be saved.
Salvation is up to God’s Sovereignty.
Except Christ as my saviour and repent from all sins.

which gospel are you talking about? Paul's or Christ? totally different.
Same Gospel, but Paul's understanding of the Lord's words were incomplete. Only in Christ is there salvation, not Paul or Moses.

Not Mary either. Infact in The Greek Bible KJV It's only Christ alone that can bring Salvation.
Mary isn't mentioned anywhere to praise to worship or to grant salvation. She was only Blessed by GOD to carry The saviour of this world. She has no powers and she's not alive. She passed away many many yrs ago.
The Catholics are being lead away with lies. Mary gets more attention than Jesus. That's a Sin.
To be saved you must confess with your mouth that Christ is Lord and believe in your heart that he shed his blood on the cross for the remission of your Sins. Baptism alone won't save you.
