BRUJUL COW RACING FEBRUARY 2, 2025 - PART 1

The Brujul Bull Race in Probolinggo City is a tradition similar to the bull race in Madura, but it is not held in a dry field but in a muddy rice field. This tradition originated from the habit of farmers who always plow their rice fields first using cows before planting rice. The rice fields are flooded with water until full, then plowed. To relieve boredom, these farmers then compete in the muddy rice fields.
Gradually, this habit became a new hobby for farmers. From there, a group of farmers developed it into a Brujul Bull Race competition between farmers every rice planting season. At first, there were no prizes for the winners or champions because it was purely for fun and an expression of gratitude to the creator who was celebrated together. It's just that there is a provision that the Jockey must wear a typical Probolinggo udheng (headband).
