Unleashed is the only boost game I've played so idk how exactly it works in the other games, but I thought it was a genius inclusion there. I loved how it functioned as a reward for being good at the game and knowing the level layout, but it's extremely risky without that. When I first played it, it probably killed me more times than saved me, but I'm also aware it was mostly my fault, with the exception of accidentally air boosting instead of using the homing attack, but that's more of an issue with the button mapping than the mechanic itself. Watching gameplay of Forces, it makes me sad to see it's less of a skill you need to master as a player and more of a thing you can just do to play through the level faster. Not to say there aren't *sections* where you could use it skillfully in Forces, but for the most part it feels like you're either boosting to win or you're being punished for going too fast. And I think that second case is where sonic team frequently misunderstands as difficulty in Sonic games. Sure, forcing the player to go slow is pretty difficult given how Sonic controls, but it's annoying when going slow isn't a result of your skill, but rather a result of the game making it so you can't go fast or you just die. Autoscroling sections should NEVER be in Sonic. Anyway, great video! And I'm very excited to get Frontiers in a couple weeks, I hear it's good so I'll be happy to support it with my money
Pretty good vid, I’d have too agree with most of your points sonic is supposed to go fast, I think them trying to bring in a broader audience and it pretty much messed up the game
We also like Mudkips. On a more serious note, my biggest gripe with this video is that giving the QTE cutscenes a pass just because "at least is something new" is not a very good excuse. Just because it's new doesn't remove the fact it not only takes player control away even more than the level """design""" already does, but also screeches the game to a halt which becomes even more outrageous on repeat playthroughs (your emphasis to praise the Avatar.) Other than that, I really, really like this video. Really similar to the old one, but expanded? I like it.
Dang... I'm surprised. The sheer level of quality from a smaller channel like this is absolutely crazy. I will be subscribing and be watching future (and past!) content on your channel. Truly a great video that I enjoyed all the way though
@@GodLikesMudkips I know the whole 'underrated' term is thrown around lightly these days but seriously... with this video quality you deserve more recognition
I'd like to think that Tails hallucinated Classic Sonic and it was actually him doing everything the whole time. This aligns better with the line of Tails losing it. In addition, you can easily recon the existence of a "Classic Sonic" out of canon with there being only 1 Sonic.
