Nice 👍 I have a hammer drill ive used for drilling into concrete pillars. Pretty sweet. Made a door jamb w channel bar and put a lock box on an existing gate installed a door handle and dead bolt. Came out pretty sweet. Did some welding too 👍 Awesome video!
I’ve heard the weight of adding concrete can be a concern for the existing foundation. I’ve also heard that adding concrete isn’t an issue at all if the foundation looks good to start with. I poured 4 inches raising to 8-10 inches in areas with rebar and fiberglass a few years ago - No issues so far. This was a garage to bedroom conversion.
When you have framing going down to bottom do you form against framing with 1/2 ply or do you shore up roof framing from just outside wall and then frame new wall?
Great job in filling it in and doing it right. Funny thing is as an architect of custom homes, and the owner of a house with a sunken living room i have to say i love mine. Gives my home a comfortable feel. I have large portion of my clients with deep pockets adding these options back into there designs. Moving away from the huge large open room all one floor plane. Not sure these will every be "back in style" but interesting to see them being included in new builds.
Hi, love the videos! Just had a "conversation pit" in the corner of my living room filled with concrete. How long before it's 100% dry, set, cured, etc? I'm putting new laminate flooring on it and want to know how long I should wait before getting the floor installed.
I recently added a balcony space(3m2) to the livingroom in a condominium. The balcony was abot 15 cm lower and i filled it first with autoclaved aerated concrete blocks. and a 3cm toplayer of cement. It weight about 300kg less then filling it complete with concrete. Was that actually the right thing to do?
Thank you for the latest video on the full backyard concrete pour would love to know the cost of that job just trying to get a estimate on my backyard /brick wall project for my house just trying to get the best quality for my money
Awesome work as usual you and your team. how about some with follow ups of previous projects, people's testimonies of their experience working with Odell Complete Concrete :)
David - great video as always. I am considering doing this myself as well, I am up in Ventura County but was wondering what range of $ per sq ft I would expect to pay? Mine is ~6" deep vs this home. Thanks!
Hey Odell, how has concrete price changed in the last 2 months or so? I been getting estimates and they said the price skyrocketed lately. Do they go up and down like the market or do they slowly increase? I cant find any information on this. Much appreciated.
Not that it matters so much on this video but watching some of your others ones and I gotta ask there must be bad days with concrete. Watching you be so careful with the edging to get good looking joints. What about when your having a bad day everything is irritating you and you just don’t have a steady hand what do you do then ?
You would think seeing one concrete video you've see them all. Something very satisfying about these videos. I'm trying to think of a adjective here. First thing that springs to mind unfortunately was it's a lot like having a w**k. Yeah its the same thing over and over again. But good look stopping Hahahaha. Of course I'm only having a joke here. Love the vids
Hey Rob Bob. I’m the dumb homeowner. Maybe you’re right. Here’s about what the material might cost to frame this opening: (18) 2”x10”x16’ Joists- $576 (28) Joist Hangers - $56 (4) Packs 5” Wedge Anchors - $60 (8) Sheets 3/4” Ply - $364 (8) Tubes Liquid Nails Subfloor Glue - $37 (1) Bucket Deck Screws - $100 So that’s $1,193. $1,285 with our 7.75% local sales tax. A half load of concrete, 8 tons of class 2 base, and rebar is probably around that same cost. I would argue the labor is probably within the same range, if not more to frame. All that aside, the house is entirely slab-on-grade, so it would be really odd to have a solid floor throughout the house and a corner that is hollow. I also will never have to worry about an inaccessible, below grade void beneath my living room. Please elaborate in detail on how it would be cheaper to frame, ignoring the fact that the end product in this situation is infinitely better, regardless of the cost.
How beautiful the concrete floor was and it is appreciated that you share your work greetings from san felipe chile

Avery’s learning so much, good job!
Great
Why no vapor barrier (plastic sheet under concrete) ?
We poured this on existing concrete
I guess the insulation would be on the existing concrete floor as well, or do you not use insulation in your floors in your geography?
Dam !!good job gentleman I like how you took pride in keeping everything clean as possible in the house.
TY
Did you put any expansion material between the new concrete and the stem walls?
Nice 👍

that looks awesome.
Watching the room being filled in makes me wonder, do people in CA ever put radiant slabs in their homes?
I've seen it a few times
I think it could be nice during December and January nights, if you don't like wearing sox inside the house.
@@OdellCompleteConcrete up here in Northern Michigan, it's one of the best ways to heat a garage / shop.
I've seen it more in bathrooms in Northern Ca, some kitchens.

Any chance you could recommend someone in Toronto, Canada?

3:40 if you got a larger compactor could you go more than 3-inches? Would having a larger compactor be too heavy/large then?
Yes
No
Sir, what were those disks he was using at first? And why did he use those instead of the sliders?
Plywood
Get out there earlier
I missed it, do you use the base material to bring it up level?
The base is a filler

You've done some nice work. Parabéns!!!
Thanks a lot!
I assume no expansion joints since they were going to lay tile over it?
For sure
Wow. Where do you get the energy? Very skillfully done as well. 👍
Good question

Do you guys not put a PIR insulation in the floor?? And a DPM?
No
