- This is the NEW humanoid robot from Boston Dynamics. It’s replacing the older Atlas robot after nearly 10 years!
Here's what you should know about this new robot...

She's the first person to be hunted down when Skynet starts 💀
Nah, skynet would likely thank her for the training data. That data makes skynet more effective, why should it care that this gesture is mildly insulting among humans?
Now, if you flipped it off, that might be different. Not a lot of data you can gather from someone just flipping you off, other than that they don't like you.
The day the US decides to make something like Skynet. Is the day the "Star Wars" Program would be realized. FYI: "Star Wars" was the nickname for the orbital laser defense system cooked up in the 80s. Was never brought into reality, but it scared the shit out of the Soviet Union.
Besides, I bet you Skynet would come from China anyway. Being how the government is more than happy to throw money at future concepts. All to be the first to have it. Like the Solar Highway....it did not work and cost China billions. So them throwing money at some combat AI project. And all that. Yeah. They may do it. And then, it turns on China and all of humanity to follow. Be like every plague that ravages the world. Comes from China, and this is a fact. Not some racist slander.
Not hunted by the robots either.😂

Yeah im pretty sure all of the robots have been funded by the DOD.
Yep. Definitely someone I want appreciated. 🤦🏼♀️
Only a matter of time
This entire program is funded by DARPA also
@VoidXearo I don't disagree with at any point. Just informing people that likelihood of military application for this tech has gone up compared to when Boston Dynamics was independent or even Alphabet or Softbank owned.
And yes Darpa funded their research but nothing Boston Dynamics had worked well enough for military use. Petman testing clothing excluded.
Imagine starting a boss fight with that stand up animation
FINALLY someone build a fricking robot not limited to the human range of movement I’ve been WAITING
Almost all the robots in use today are not limited to a human range of motion, nor do they look remotely humanoid. We seem to be fascinated by such form factors, but they are unlikely to be of much use in the real world.
For instance, you are not going to buy a humanoid robot to drive a truck, the truck is going to be the robot. Or getting a humanoid robot to help around the house would be far more expensive than automating parts of the house.

Honestly a good point that humanoid robots don’t need to be humanoid moving.
When there nothing organic stopping them go wild
Yes and no. If you're developing them to be used as independent units controlled by AI or remote cobtrolled human operators via manual controls, then yes, you don't need to limit yourself to human like movements, and you should rather try to improve on that.
However, if you're developing them to integrate their mechanisms into wearable exoskeletons, or to be controlled by neural interfaces, then you need to make their movements human like.
Everyone in the comments acting like life's a post apocalypse sci fi
They're luddites.
Prolly not post apocalyptic but a government is damn well gonna use them😭
This blend of robotics and intelligent automation could really redefine efficiency and innovation in sectors like logistics or customer service. Excited to see where this technology heads next
I love how humanoid Atlas look and move compared to the new robot
Why are they removing the limitations? Are they trying to make them overpowered?
The movement is uncanny terrifying but from a functional use case its amazing and a full leap in development.
It’s CGI
I saw a video of someone with a prosthetic hand opening a low drawer. The wrist couldn't bend, but could rotate 360 degrees, so it was easier to just rotate the hand to am unnatural position to do the task.
I love Boston dynamics and have been following their robots for so long. I love how creepily smooth this one moves and can’t wait for Judgement Day
The new one stops you from shoving it; "that's not very nice, Cleo"
We can make robots like this, yet my roomba keeps headbutting my fridge like a ram. I don't think we have to fear Skynet just yet 😂
You need one of the new refrigerators that have a chip that can tell when the milk must be bad. It could go on the internet of things and tell the Roomba to turn around and get the crumbs under the table. In time there should be a refrigerator with legs so that it can bring you a beer while you are watching TV and don't want to get up and risk missing something.
@@gordenrussell7266 it's insanely easy to make a robot tell you when the milk is expired, you just need to put a barcode on the milk jug saying when the milk in it will expire and the fridge would just scan it when the milk is put in

Bro don't shove the robots, they'll 100% remember that
I like the idea of the robot's movement being more free and limitless compared to a human. Shows the creativity of making it move around efficiently as a machine would.
I cannot imagine a life threatening situation that would require my rescue robot to do a standing back flip...
Atlas Mk II... gotta love the improvements.
This version of Atlas definitely gives off the more classic sci-fi vibe with it's appearance and ability to rotate joints 360 degrees. Also that light-up facial region sells it's sci-fi appearance so well lol. Looks like it could have come straight from a movie.
Still a little clunky with the walk but I am sure that will get worked out in future revisions.
Personally, I cannot wait for the next generation of Atlas.. Atlas Mk III will be near-human I am sure.
It was easy to tell them apart in the beginning, rubbery skin, hollow eyes… but now, they’ve got broken teeth, bad breath, their lair of skin has sweat and can bleed
@@creeper326. Been a while since I saw the movie 'Bladerunner' but that honestly sounds like it could have come directly from the monologue at the beginning.

You're very gracious. IMO, they kinda shiv'd you by letting you do a whole story on Atlas 1 just a few weeks before announcing its retirement.
Unfortunately she prolly went to them with the idea, if they said no that'd give her some insider info on "new tech" and NDA says no about that
The way it stands up is straight out of a horror movie
