Heh. A few tips:
When batting, you can't just charge it up and wait. You have to actually time it. When the curser shrinks, that's the sweet spot timing. If it comes back out again, you're more likely to just hit a fly out. Especially on harder difficulties. Though with power hitters, it won't matter too much as long as you hit it dead-center. xD
Second is just a baseball rule. If there's a guy on third running home from a hit with two outs? You don't have to throw him out at home. The hitter has to at least make it to first base for any runs to count. So if it's easier, go for the out at first.
Next, if the ball is far into the outfield and you want to get it home, do NOT throw it straight from the outfield. The ball will take AGES to get there. It's better to just throw it to the nearest base, then have them relay it to home. So it's very important for your infielders to have good chemistry. Especially with home base, and for the first and third basemen. Ironically, the pitcher, who is usually the team captain, is the least important in terms of chemistry. xD
Also, I tend to just not swing at any captain pitches unless they're easier to hit off of, like Mario's. If you hit it wrong, you're more likely to just fly out. And if you have other people on the bases, you open the possibility for a double play. I'd rather just take the strike and move on.
Oh. And the reason Diddy was MVP was because he scored the RBI that won you the game. That's a lot of points. xD

The batting tip I actually knew about (as this also applies in Mario Superstar Baseball), and you can tell whenever I'm up to bat that I wait a little before charging the swing. The baseball rule I also understand, but sometimes I panic and feel like I need to get the guy running to home. Yeah, the throw from outfield SHOULD go to someone on base, then to home, but I either forget in the heat of the moment, or press the wrong button.

Oh, you do? Heh. Well, I certainly understand. Perhaps it's just that I played this game WAY too much that I just got that used to it. xD I mean like...every difficulty on challenge mode, and just constantly played on the different fields and such. Oh, and don't worry about the wrong button thing. Even after all the time I've played it, I STILL accidentally throw it to the wrong base occasionally. xD
But yeah, I'm glad to have been able to offer some help anyway~ Like I said, I've just played this way too many times. xP It's easily my go-to Mario sports game.
Also, just a baseball rule, never make the third out at 3rd or home. Plus, not just a baseball rule, if your outfielders have good chemistry, do the kick and throw thing, especially if they have a weak arm.

After besting Bowser Jr. in a game of baseball, it's time to take on his dad, Bowser, the Baseball Beast! It's the Muscles versus the Monsters in a battle for Baseball Kingdom!

Yeah the fielding sucks in this game.
However, if you play with just the Wii-mote (no Nunchuk) all you have to worry about is throwing the ball motion for fielding, it moves the characters for you!
Nonetheless, congrats on beating Bowser in one try!
