The Italians accuse the Indigenous Americans of discrimination for attacking Columbus, the Cuban and Hesh agree with the criticism of Columbus, but Hesh accuses the Cuban of anti-semitism for comparing Columbus to Hitler lmao

I think Furio offers a good viewpoint. As Americans we tend to see the land where our forefathers came from as this homogeneous culture where everyone is the same. Pan-African, pan-italian, pan-german, etc. In reality, these countries are broken up into regions that don't always get along with each other. Then again, other countries see the United States in the same way. They see all Americans as being the same and can't see the variations in like California versus the south, etc

Much like the horrific killing of George Floyd shocked America into making Juneteenth a national holiday, the mass lynching horrified President Harrison who then nationalized the Columbus Day celebrations. Times change and maybe Columbus no longer is a man modern society want to honor, but I don't think we should discard celebrating Italian-Americans and the struggles they've had in this country.
