Knowing that Janet Jackson Mariah Carey, Brandy, Destiny’s Child, Jlo, Aaliyah, Missy, Tupac, Usher, Micheal Jackson, Faith Evens all had singles and albums out in 2001/02 and They give this to Ashanti let’s me know these Awards shows are rigged and filled with politics. 😂 but I’m glad she got it. Can’t be mad at it no matter what she had to do to get it.
This was a very undeserved award and recognition. No hating on the poor girl but she had been out just for one year and her succes was very blown up. The people who started that online petion were right: she didn't have an alluring stage presence and a great voice either. And where is she now?! I guess that people at Soul Train have problem to recognise the icons of tomorrow. Ashanti' success lasted only two years. LOL They gave the same award to Amerie and she didn't last like Ashanti either. But Amerie could sing much better.
