Cleaning the thermal head with rubbing alcohol did the trick! Thank you so much!! I thought I was going to have to return my brand-new printer but your advice saved the day!
For those on Windows 11, the settings have slightly changed. The steps are as follows: Printer Properties > Preferences > Advanced > Print Density > check the box next to Set Print Density > Adjust Density to the highest number. My default was a Density of 7 and my labels were difficult to read. I changed it to 15 and my labels were perfect.
This isn't in my options at all, In advanced, It'd under a directory list and the option is called Half Toning (set to None, already) For more advanced Density options, i could only find if i was printing from/as a PDF file in the first place. Unfortunately the options above don't appear in my windows->printer options at all!
Thank you. I have Zebra LP 2844 thermal printer. I followed your advice, changed a few settings, ran a test print and the print quality is so much better. It was faded and blotchy before and now it is clean and solid.
Definitely helpful! I didnt know about the density setting, I found it hidden in 'advanced' for my LabelRanger LP620 and it improved 1000% - Thank You!
Thank you! My labels were not printing that dark, I did your first method and it made them darker but my other issue was I had one strip down all my labels that was "missing" or faded, I cleaned the thermal strip with an alcohol wipe and behold the printer is working better now than it ever has (4barcode OFFNOVA 4B-2054N)
IT WORKED. but i still use 'ordered' instead of None. Still worked. Thank you so much. You made my day. I thought my printer is idiot, turns out its me.
This video saved my day ! I have a Zebra ZT230 with all the settings as adviced, but the labels were too light anyway so this video made me switch to new labels and it got much darker !
Hey please help me out, I'm thinking of getting a thermal label printer but idk how long do the labels last before they fade, can you please tell me? Thanks
Thx for your xclt video! You saved me replacing gear. It's like early 1970s, cleaning fax 350 baud 'rolling pins' - back when they needed a PO and 2 mgrs to sign off! (And woe if somebody bumped the table in transmission). LOL.
Thank you very much. You made mention of Rubbing alcohol. Assuming that i want to get it, what will tell the seller? Is it rubbing alcohol or is there any other name i will mention for them to know what i want exactly. I need to fix mine as soon as possible. The printout is not dark and sharp.
Hello Rostand, There are a number of other factors that can play a role in print clarity - such as label quality, label age, or the source of material that you are printing from. If you have an Arkscan printer, please contact our support team and we can provide you with a more accurate solution - www.arkscan.com/livechat . Take care!
@@ARKSCANLLC Hello ... I finally found the issue with my printer .... it was the label roll ... the one i was using is thicker ... whereas the one that is working is lighter ...
Thanks for the 1st method, I changed the printer darkness setting in my MacBook (i can't found other config setting in MacBook printer feature) and it's work well for my printer too!

I was about to return my brand new iDPRT SP410 Thermal Printer because of poor quality. After changing these 2 settings, it now prints perfect. Why isn't this mentioned in the user manual or even their website? THANK YOU!
After setting the density to the highest number and clicking apply the new setting does NOT save!!!! It will print for the next label only. The label after that is back to being light! Why? and how do you get the printer driver to SAVE the density setting.
Clean head 1st. Play with head temperature 2nd. If you need to print at 100% head setting there are other issues. 70% should be about the highest you need to go on most DT Papers.
Can a certain application be the cause of a bad print ? Been having a funny issue. Test print and test print from windows comes out fine. As soon as it comes from the app its messed up
I’ve been wanting to get a label printer for my small business for the longest time and finally pulled the trigger. I’m glad I did ! This machine is great ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxw55tQTywUAAOsbrlwxONZULry77sFF1Q and the blue/green color matches the rest of the accents in my office. My favorite part is how small the footprint is. It’s less than 1/4 the size of my regular printer.Set up was fairly easy. Seller will email you a link with video instructions Which I found to be more helpful than the written instructions. I use a Mac and had no issues. They even included an adaptor for USB to USB-c which is great because I’m always losing mine! I had a few issues getting the labels to print properly and wasted quite a few sheets. You need to play around with the settings to get everything adjusted just right. If you have the wrong settings, it’ll crop off the edges or feed through blank labels. These aren’t issues with the machine though, just user error.
Christ Conscious I had the same situation. Select the “settings” tab instead and increase the density. Mine was set on 6 and I put it up to 8. Hope this helps.
I have a question...The darkness for my thermal settings is set at 7 but it is greyed out and won't allow me to change it. Is there a way to get around that? My Ebay labels are crappy but UPS seems to be ok.

This was super helpful! I was wondering why my labels weren't dark at all. It was due to the darkness level and now my labels look great!
