- A performance by SPAH-designated "Harmonica Legend" Stan Harper of one movement of the Vivaldi A minor violin concerto. Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741) was called "The Red Priest" because of his hair, not his politics. An outstanding violinist, he was among the greatest and most prolific composers of his day. He also mentored a young singer, Anna Tessieri Giro, and some suspected that their relationship went beyond music, although he stoutly denied it. He was knighted by Emperor Charles VI.
Our video regrettably contains some noise during speech but, fortunately, it is virtually inaudible during Stan's performance.
The harmonica wasn't invented, when Vivaldi lived, but it really fits in. I'm sure, that Vivaldi also would have composed at least one concierto grosso für harmonica, if he knew the instrument and this artist. First time in my life I hear baroque music performed on an chromatic harmonica and I'm very impressed by this interpretation. Stan Harper is really a great artist!
God blessed this man i can play on my harmonica
This makes me cry sounds good. The possible Pinnacle of harmonica
Mr Stan will remain for ever in my memories!,I have been on the ship listening him..Excellent. I work on the cruise as Bartender on Fairwind
It was a beautiful performance. I had the honor to meet Stan at the SPAH Harmonica Convention in 2012 in Dallas, USA and listened to him playing the 3rd movt. of Mozart's Oboe Concerto. It was quite a treat. Anthony Lau (Canada)
wonferful man I remember him when I worked on Tss Fairwind as barman and he gave me a nice cassette of his performance,I will never forgot him.
A street wise virtuoso, amazing playing.
Great playing !!!
Thanks from India..
Very well played
gracias Maestro!!!
Bravo Stan!Molto Bella!
great
Amazing!
Wow!!
This is not the Allegro (1st movt.) of that violin concerto, as stated, but the Presto (3rd movt.). Great performance, anyway!
Great Playing , Quick!!
It's NOT EASY TO DO IT AWESOME!
Stan's one of the greats...no doubt. I'm glad to be able to share some of his stuff with others. (He hasn't seen these postings...doesn't go onlline!)
