You should check out NINA and ASTAP with the G17 database. With ASTAP it can do blind solving, and I rarely have any failures in plate solving with NINA and ASTAP. Each solve takes at most 5 seconds, if that. You just need to make sure you get the focal length and camera specs correct for it to plate solve.
Caleb Melton Hi Caleb, you’re the second person to recommend ASTAP and so I upgraded my APT software and added the ASTAP database and you’re absolutely right, it works flawlessly now. Thanks for watching and clear skies!
Great video as always. Im using a T5i and tried starting with 60" subs at ISO 1600 and my histogram is blown out all the way to the right side... dropped down to 800 @ 30" and histogram slightly over 1/3 from the left. Camera is modded, bortle 6 and good seeing. Scope is Redcat. Before you roll your eyes, it's all I have lol. Just out taking advantage of nice night. Sky Guider Pro mount. Have eq6r but current battery power not enough for mount, asiair and dew strap.
Yes looking forward to your next video, I have the Canon t7I also astro modified and since the two cameras are nearly identical I will try your settings.
Great video as always, this is especially helpful too me because I have the bigger brother of your telescope. The NM 190. From your collimating this type of scope, to your DSLR Settings and your shooting targets you are teaching this Older, novice astrophotographer. Many Thanks
Bruce Osterberg Hi Bruce thank you! Glad to hear you found the video helpful. I’ve got one coming out tomorrow on dslr exposure settings that I think you and many others will find useful. Clear skies!
Your image Aaron turned out good considering all the problems with plate solving ,I'm lucky never had any problems with APT always hit the target ,thanks for sharing looking forward to your next video.
The new version of APT uses a new plate solving software that is really fast. I had the same issues with blind solving never really working (maybe once), and Plate Solve 2 needing to be within a certain range to work. This new one, ASTAP, is much better. Thanks for the vids!
Hi! Man I just found your channel and I like how you make your vids easy and right to the point! Love it, dude I have a ton of notes on your PS processing, I learned a lot! I’ve been after the triplet for many nights but can’t seem to find it, I’ll follow your tips in this video, I hope I have the right scope for it a ed-80 triplet. Always in the look out for your easy to follow great teachings!
Edwin Sanchez Thank you Edwin! And yes, I believe your scope will do the job at that focal length but if you want to know for sure then use stellarium to see the exact field of view that scope and camera combination will give you. I have a video on it if you haven’t seen it yet. Good luck and clear skies!
Awesome video! Just found your channel. I was out imaging M101 the other night...hoping to get an image of The Leo Triplet soon too! I know what you mean when you talk about it being nice to get back to the basics and not film during imaging. This one was well worth it though and I'm so glad you did. Clear skies!
Tiago Ramos Hi Tiago, thank you! Yes, I did notice a difference in the mount after hyper tuning it. It is much smoother in its movements and my overall guiding accuracy improved as well. I used Deep space Products for the hypertune.

Vittorio Sergi yeah I actually downloaded it the other day and you are right. It is way better!! Thanks for watching!

Tam Richardson thank you Tam! Yeah, I was concerned that the issues with PHD2 were gonna be a problem but it worked out I’m the end.
