- We are a 501(C)3 Non Profit that has been working over the years to build forty hand carved and hand painted horses for our refurbished Classic Carouse. We have had hundreds of volunteers participate in the creation process of these horses. Our volunteers, we fondly refer to as our Carousel Crew painted and decorated our entire refurbished carousel components.
Our Carousel Crew has been working hard with Todd and Ralph to get our carousel set up. The guys have been building the carousel from the ground up and piece by piece. They had to build our carousel first with all of its' pieces and parts, it is truly an amazing piece of engineering to watch in action. Then they installed rounding boards, inner panel paintings, and mirrors and also started installing the horses and the setting up the chariot locations and the spinning tub locations on our beautiful new wooden floor.
Here is a video courtesy of Volunteer Bruce Goguen showing the creation and happenings down at our carousel building. 32 horses, 1 donkey, 2 chariots, 1 spinning tub. The horses not placed on the carousel at this time for the first spin, will get a chance to ride as well and be rotated in and out as time goes on.
Our Executive Director Maria says "We can now say it has happened! We have a Berkshire Carousel!! Located here in Pittsfield, Massachusetts in Berkshire County. We still have a lot of work to do on our building and more phases to go! We would like to invite you in the near future to Come Along for the Ride and join us as we complete our journey..
We will be announcing sometime soon our Opening Day plans... so stay tuned for more information as we move forward.

Great job of putting the carousel together.🎉🎉😊👏👏👍👍👍🌹🌹🌹👍👍👏👏👏😊
Underneath it’s just a triangle with a bigger triangle on top :)
I Think this informative video shouldn't of been sped up like that it's interesting to know about how carousels are made without spending the video up.
great work !!!! (yeah as a carrousel owner it made me cringe too ..but you guy did well !!! I see the heart !!! (I m used to build and only touch something once )... but this build is to last for years !!!!
They do amazing work, I can see the amazement on their faces when finished the pride in the finished product.. what a nice few minutes for us to watch the horses come almost to life...
Fantastic outstanding
Whoa my carnival opens tomorrow and they just got into town yesterday... hope they are fast Lol
Cool cool cool 👍👌👏
imagine watching this in 2021 LOL
9:21 wow i loved it :)
Well, there really doing a good job😁
what is taking them so long I put one up in 1and a half hours
If you read the description they are not payed and many volunteers helped. Also these have platforms in pieces that weigh over 100 pounds + each. I helped tear a carousel down took more then a hour and a half to tear down by hand lifting the platforms on the truck.
1 and a half hours is a "bit" of a stretch, but an experienced crew of showies would do it in 12-16 hours.
I estimate about 1000 man hours just to assemble it. Imagine the time it took to restore.
