Ryan has to be one of my favorite characters of the show recently. Unlike Dot, he’s so evil and lacks any empathy as a mole in the police. Easily one of the most hated villains, but entertaining as hell
I also really like how he's a prime example of how the police is infiltrated by OCG and the part of the corrupt police that is filtered in showing why and how all these bent coppers exist that are there not by blackmail but true intentions
Thanks for the excellent video. I look out for these each week now. I find the contrast with season 2 intriguing. When Lindsay Denton's vehicle was set upon, she was treated as a traitor back at her station afterwards. They all mourned the officers killed. Lindsay was immediately summoned to AC-12 for interview. How or why is it that Ryan was given a hero's reception, little was said about PC Patel, and AC-12 did not summon Ryan for interview? Something is going on there. Plus we haven't seen any indication of Steve informing Hastings about Ryan's past.
i think the person davidson is talking to on the laptop at the end of the episode will essentially ask davidson to set up kate like buckles was. kate knows something isn't right and davidson might be startng to realise that kate is on to her or atleast knows something isn't right, so 'H' (laptop) will ask davidson to tie another lose end and to 'get everything under control' like the first message mentioned after when buckles was framed. It a long shot theory but i think that kate will get framed by davidson in the same way she planted evidence for buckles to be framed and handed over to AC-12.
It's not "JUST" like LD, it's exactly the same, if you remember the HMP Brentness guard is the same one who poured boiling water on LDs hands and said "you've been talking to AC-12" the guard from s2&6) is clearly in the OCGs pocket. And what about Davidson using the laptop right at the end of the episode?. The whole story is starting to heat up rapidly. This puts a whole new meaning to living for the weekend 🤣
I'm still not sure how this series will develop. So far the writing has been very good and I'm constantly changing my mind on who is truly bent and who's being manipulated. I am a little bit disappointed with how easily Ryan seems to be getting away with things. I feel like the old Steve, Kate and Ted would have immediately spoken to him after discovering his past
Amazing video, be sure to check the comments of your other video for my thing on Denton which could ( but probably won’t) come into play. Also, probably not worth mentioning defund the police. Difference is they are a group of criminals with nothing else to do and want to abolish police so they can do what they want, then when they get attacked they’ll call them and still whinge. Extra police is what normal people suggest, so you can’t really compare the two Edit: Ally Merchant was the SAME officer that looked after Denton and Jatri
@@quackingpanda8466 it can be a red herring. Like how I think it can still be Hastings despite them already addressing the issue. Also reminds me of season 1 when dot blames leaving his post early on gates despite the fact that it was his doing and we only find out later it’s because he is the caddy. She doesn’t know he’s H and the fact that he isn’t at fault for everything he’s been accused of means he will probably get away with it. As I said I think wise is H but beckells is in the picture now.
Great video. I did have my suspicions about Buckells after rewatching the show and checking out your video, but this episode I'm a bit unsure. I do think Buckells is somehow connected to the OCG and could still be H by having a dim witted interview to put AC-12 off his case. However I am on the fence about the whole thing and see it going one way or the other at this point.
Police commissioner Sindwhani is "H". He gives the right vibe for being the 4th man. He's in a powerful position, ambitious and cagey. His transgressions are 'hidden' much like the "H" in his name. He is in a transactional manipulationship with some real baddies. They line his pockets and he permits them to wreak havoc under controlled terms.
I'm glad you've picked up on Kelly Macdonald's (to put it mildly) suspect acting. Right from the beginning, I have thought her delivery has been wooden and monotone. Not remotely believable as a Police Officer. I really think that she should have used a different accent, and I say that as someone who lives a few miles from where she does in Glasgow. Vicky McClure is always outstanding and extremely underrated but I think Martin Compston's performance so far this season has been outstanding. I'm not a big fan of his current storyline but he has delivered it brilliantly. I hope some of the shows many mysteries start to be unmasked because it's starting to get into parody territory.
I think McDonalds dialogue is meant to be that way though as she’s at a conflict of emotions, she’s never happy but also knows she’s still getting away with everything and so it would be bad to have her play one way or another
@@sethharris9473 It's not necessarily the dialogue I am objecting to, it's her acting overall. I don't find her believable at all. Kelly Macdonald admitted as much that she found it daunting and struggled with the dialogue and Police acronyms. I think she sticks out like a sore thumb when you consider the quality of the other actors but it's just an opinion.
After nearly a year, ITV seem to have allowed this video to return. Entirely out of date, but I hope you all enjoy haha
Buckells has to be another one of Jed's red herrings. When the camera pans to him swinging his golf club around? Like really?!?!!?!

Its because his been corrupted since his childhood days
You probably realised but forgot to mention, it was one of the same bent prison guards as seen in Series 2, that broke Farida's wrist.
@@kevinmurray1324 yep exactly. That's the good continuity we like to see!
Exactly

Wasn't it Ted Hastings who had masonic ties?
I can't remember which episode it was from but he visited an elderly person who had a masonic handshake.
Yep- it was revealed when he met Patrick Fairbanks (the disgraced former cop) in s3
Discord squad here in force now!

circling the drain ... dead in the water ... - keep them (& the videos) coming
I binged to catch up with Line of duty in time to find then subscribe to your channel and have fun speculating alongside you. Great stuff. ☺️
7:52 It was the same guard as well
This episode is so good! I watched this with a few friends and we were just shocked and tense for 90% of the episode.
I’m wondering where CC Osborne fits in to all this
I think he is buckells superior that makes buckells do dumb things which gets him promoted
I think Rohan Sindhwani is H considering his position and power and his afforts to supress investigation on OCG.

Cash in the attic. Nice.
Nice video mate! 🙂
i concur
I’m thinking wise is H. But beckells is the betting favourite
I don't think we've met H yet
It looks like Davidson uses the computer to message H and at that time Buckells arrested
@@quackingpanda8466 but she don’t know who H is and beckells sent the message before. It can still be beckells
@@amaanraza7749 but why would Buckells get himself arrested/framed if he was H?
