This has a very final dungeon theme feeling which is awesome. I don't think any dungeon built up such a feeling, maybe keeper of the lake but this one did it a lot better imo
@@chlolyne @Clint Davis To be fair, neither of those were released yet when this video was posted, nevermind that comment. Let's just say that the 'final dungeon theme' is something the FFXIV team has iterated on with every expansion. 😉
The real difference between the Final Fantasy community and WOW is summed up by the last team I Was in... I joined a random dungeon team for the roulette and it was fairly uneventful throughout, but when we got to the last boss I said, wow, this music is beautiful... then I guess the orchestration roll for it dropped and everyone passed on it without even asking, saying, hey, that music you liked... there it is. There is a kindness to the community of this game, I haven't seen in WOW in a decade... because it's not just here or there, it's all the time. This community truly is a precious thing.
Pretty sure it's because the dungeon itself is old and almost everyone has gotten the orchestrion roll. When new content comes out, everyone goes apeshit at getting the music LOL
@@Prism_Heavy He isn't wrong about the community though. I've been playing for 7 1/2 years and the community is fantastic compared to WoW. Yes FFXIV has it's bad apples, you aren't going to find an MMO without them, but overall, in my experience, people aren't complete douchebags, at least not on my server anyway.
@@jasonwright2665 Oh I never disagreed with him. FFXIV has THE best mmo community I have ever seen. Been playing 4 years now and I still haven't found a community better ❤️
as someone who grew up playing WoW for years, and just a few weeks ago moved away from it to FF, FF is absolutely so much better than WoW. the WoW community alone is soo toxic these days. if you are new to a dgn, they look at you in disgust as if you will drag them down, but in FF most players (there will always be toxic ones lol) are so kind and helpful. ive had more great experiences in the few weeks of playing it than i have in the 5-6 years playing WoW, and really wish i moved over sooner
I did an Alliance Roulette the other day where there were like 2 people who were being shitty about people not knowing mechanics (after like half the raid said they were new), but that was the only time I can ever remember any actual unpleasantness in FF14, and I've been playing off and on since ARR
I’m saying this after all the SHB dungeons which were amazing but sohr kai stands the test of time for me. Sohr kai will will forever be one of my favorite dungeons ever in ff14
That part after you defeat the 2nd boss which is a horsey and you move on up to phase 3 and go higher and the sky is all gold. Then as you get near the final boss a giant dragon flies above you with this music playing 🥹 Nidhoggs brother Hrasevalgrehcsthxdfgxdfc😂
This isn't either Sohm Al or Dragonsong. It's based on Churning Mists (also not based on Dragonsong) since that is the area where the dungeon is located
I think it is so interesting that in several of these older videos on this channel, I've seen the party members in chat say something about the first-timer
Beautiful track. I like that you made this an extended cut, too. Not all of the themes lend themselves to that very well, but this is a prime example of ones that do.
So damn beautiful song! Brings me to tears tbh. Anyone knows the equally beautiful very calm piano theme sometimes in dungeons, perhaps world, but also in main menu?
I barely peaked at 20K. I felt so under-equipped at that time. Now I'm fully decked out in the Creed set. Felt pretty awesome then. Still didn't feel like I have enough HP though...
I had an epithany. Shadowbringers spoilers: . . . Considering how he helped the Scions, and later on Unukalhai... Wouldn't Beq Luqq be able to help Shiva manifest again? I know if i were my wol, i'd be going back and forth between the two until a miracle happen.
Possibly, but we know next to nothing about the kind of soul fusion that went on between Hraesvelgr and Shiva. It is possible time may have made them entirely inseparable at this point. But that is ignoring whether Hraesvelgr and Shiva would even want it to happen. After all, even if separated they would go right back to the problem that made Shiva make the request in the first place, her limited lifespan in relation to Hraesvelgr. The way I view it it is unlikely that even should it be possible that they would want to have their souls separated, at least not unless a way to fix her lifespan was found. Possibly Hraesvelgr could give up an eye or some part of his essence to allow her to become a dragon much the way dragon blood can do to the descendants of the Knights who partook of Ratatoskr eye. Though while I don't doubt Hraesvelgr would make such a sacrifice for her, I think he would also consider there to be a bit too many if's and maybe's in the entire plan to attempt it. At least that is my two cents.
@@TheTriforceDragon I agree with this analysis. It's probably totally possible, but neither Shiva nor Hraesvelger would want to do it haha. They're probably happy being together as a pair of souls.
Mekkah I love how quick you are with your videos and I'm really grateful for them. But it seems like your videos since HW, you are really twitchy with the camera which is a bit off putting when you are immersing yourself in the music.
I sorta see what you mean, it's probably just because I'm the one doing it I don't really pick up on it much. I'll be mindful of it in the future, thanks for the feedback.
love the music and the video, hate the damn dungeon!! What do you mean not challenging!!! Every other time Ive done it its beeen bad!!! I hate rolling it during ex roullette!!
"You've made it far but I remain unconvinced!
Nidhogg will not show you any quarter, so neither can I!"
I don't know why but it's just such a good line!
That moment when you discover Sohr Khai, the music is godlike.
Sohr Kai theme: Apologies: I'm so sorry: Please Understand edition
Well it's now
I don't know why i'm laughing at this comment. XD
Sohr Khai means "Apologies" in dragonspeak.
There is a Siegfried joke in here, but I can't see it.

id beg to differ with “penitus”, the final dungeon of ARR. i love apologies but i feel that penitus got me in the feels the most
The best dungeon theme yet. Absolutely beautiful.
beating up half-dead moogles.

It's a very beautiful remix of Sohm Al and you can feel the sorrow in it.
Or, the Churning Mists theme.
It's technically a remix of Dragonsong. You know, like 95% of Heavensward, come to think of it.
@@dangerousshoes It's called a leitmotif, not a remix, and it makes for much more powerful compositions.

All the way through endwalker and this one still hits every time. Love this place.
2:19 Calm down, we like the theme, too. No need for the mid-raid seizure, Mekkah
I'm such a sucker for piano especially at 0:29
I know right? Feels good
best piano part is at 1:43
This is right up there with the Aetherochemical Theme as my favorite dungeon theme in the game
This patch has some of my new favorite themes :33
Never noticed the voices in the first part, that's why I love coming here.
I was totally awe struck by this song when I first did the dungeon that I had to go straight back in for a 2nd run. My favourite in the game so far :)
This is such a yummy ost. Spanks Mekkah for being so prompt with these videos
.____.
Just did this dungeon for the first time the other day. It really is awesome, especially the final boss fight. Love the music too.
And 5 years later I've done this dungeon dozens upon dozens of times and I STILL love the music.
This randomly popped into my head and stayed there for a week and now I am trying exposure therapy to let it out :)
Love the song and dungeon when the both are good it makes the dungeon amazingly fun
Dislikes coming from Nidhogg's shade brood.

If it is the heavensward tittle screen, it's called "a cold wind" you can buy it at the gold saucer
it might just be because of the fans but this area kinda reminds me of the earth crystal dungeon in ff5
Thanks to CMTools, I can use this track as my hunting music in the 3.0 regions. It's got good flow because of that piano hook. Technological feel.
This give me all the Goosebumps and tingles. Soken is a God.
Just did it for the first time, this is the first mmo im properly playing and holy shit this shit makes you feel like you can fight the sun
Sounds like the voices are saying "I'm sorry."
Glad I'm not the only one who does the "who's new" joke on day 1 of patch day.
My favorite POTD song by far.
Parts of this track remind me a lot of Phantasy Star Online.
I live the music at 1:20
Hraesvelgr should be mount ♡
They would have to scale it down. But we already have Midgardsormr and the wyvern.
This one's for you Loki

AMAZING
Interesting theme choice for the phase 5 of Dragonsong Reprise...
Best dungeon song yet. :o
Until A Long Fall came.
At this point in the game. How much HP should a Paladin have?
22-23k, roughly. you should be fine if you have less, though

Still didn't feel like I have enough HP though...
As far as 3.4 goes, usually 28k+
