We dispensed with using a shallow metal dish, we took the griddle basket out and just used the airfryer pan using the fat out of the sausages to cook the batter.
Only got an Air Fryer a day ago, so eager to try this sort of meal without too much hassle. Your videos explained everything I was unsure would either work or not, so cheers m8, nice one. 👌
Wowzers! Absolutely amazing recipe, I was very sceptical when I saw the recipe but I followed it to the tea….. it was perfect! Really light Yorkshire pudding like I’ve never had before! Will definitely be doing this again😋👏🏼
Same, came out a real treat, one thing I changed was that I took the sausages out, poured the batter in and then replaced the sausages evenly in the pan. Could have done with a bit more batter mix as the sausages seperated a fair bit as I only used 3 instead of 4. I thought the batter would rise between the sausages, it did, but only a little. Still great though.
The best part is the advice "best to eat these hot." All these years I've been eating toad in the hole cold, straight from the fridge. If only I'd known they were meant to be eaten hot. Great video.
That is the best toad in the hole I have seen come out of the air fryer & I have researched loads of them, question did you use the bake or air fry setting? Thank you.
Seen a similar thing in the US called "pigs in a blanket" But those are just hotdogs, with cheddar cheese, wrapped in the tube biscuit premade mix, and then baked. This looks a lot better.
Thanks for your feedback, your correct in saying pigs in blankets are an American dish, whereas Toad in the Hole or sausage toad is a traditional English dish consisting of sausages in Yorkshire pudding batter, usually served with onion gravy and vegetables. Historically, the dish has also been prepared using other meats, such as rump steak and lamb's kidney.
There is one very important procedure missing. I used the same recipe as described but got super results with a big rise of the batter by beating the mixture with a whisk until much aerated with bubbles. My Wife showed me how to and I was amazed!
Did you make it in an air fryer or conventional oven?, if your making it in an air fryer you don't want it rising so much it touches the heating element in which case it will burn..
It should be fine without baking powder, I normally use plain flour but don't see why it shouldn't work with self raising flour, A lot of the recipes are for 1 or 2 persons mainly because of the size of the air fryer 👍
My worry with the air fryer has been getting the bottom done enough with all heat at the top. I’m using Pyrex dishes rather than metal which could maybe be harder. Ill just try it
Personally I find metal transfers the heat better than Pyrex you would probably get a better overall result in a main oven against a air frier, but for me I find the air frier more convenient overall..
Toad in the Hole 12 minutes at 190c (Do not open Air Fryer for the 12 minutes) The gravy was made using Aldi Quixo the same as Bisto just a lot cheaper...

Even nicer if you mix in some mustard into the batter... you can also pimp it up with onions and other stuff...
I like mustard onion gravy with mine.
🇨🇦I am going to try this version, it looks really really good!!! I like recipes done in the air fryer.
I like roast potatoes, vegetables and mustard onion gravy with mine to make it as a main course.
Excellent vlog. 👏👏
Looks sooooooo good 💖🤗💖x
😮I’m impressed, thank you 😋
Absolutely brill. Guess what I'm having this weekend. Cheers bud

Hi, I used the air fry settings
Good ol air fryer for me a single man my big oven is used as a storing cupboard now, plus saving loads of £ on energy bills,.
Seen a similar thing in the US called "pigs in a blanket"

In the air fryer and the rise was below the heating element. Well worth a bit of smoke if it happens!
I only have self raising flour, if I leave out the baking powder will it work? I live on my own so really enjoy your recipes.

Really clear helpful and direct. Thanks 😊

@@Grizzly-UK thanks, thought so really but I’ll try and make it anyway, tbh you are bang on timing … it’s starting in a few minutes
Looks very good. Will try it soon. How long did you cook after adding the batter?
Never had this. What kind of gravy? Thanks
