    There was another vocal teacher that reacted to one of his videos and he did a reaction to it. He basically said he's all instinctual in the way he sings and had no clue about all of these different techniques she was talking about.

      He was incredible in Kinky Boots, he performed in a leg of the NYC show if I remember correctly. There's a clip of him performing Soul Of A Man here on UA-cam, I'd strongly recommend anyone to go listen - I prefer it to the original cast recording!

      He's overrated tbh, he's an amazing singer and a decent musician (gets the job done on the instruments he plays) but fml his songwriting is so boring. Panic were at their best around the Pretty Odd. era when they were still a full band and I think that says a lot about what Brendon Urie's strengths are...

    • @natalier4053
      @natalier4053 4 роки тому +14

      Lewis Dean You can have your opinion on the songs, but you can’t say that he is overrated when he is not, especially compared to the shitty famous artists that actually win awards & are on radio that don’t even write their music. Their last album wasn’t the best, but that doesn’t reflect on him being “overrated” at all.

    • @lewisdean107
      @lewisdean107 4 роки тому +2

      @@natalier4053 It doesn't matter who writes the music at the end of day, if it's interesting and well-written then kudos to whoever was involved (whether it was 5 people or 1). In fact, I just went on the credits page for Panic's latest albums and they've listed 9 writers for 'High Hopes' alone, but I don't have any problem with that. I just think his songwriting is bland.

      I remember watching P!ATD's first live performance (they were signed without ever really performing live) and holy shit, he used to be a HORRIBLE singer outside of the studio lol he definitely got some vocal lessons (as did the original bassist of P!ATD) and he's better. But man, you should try to find it haha it was the worst.

      The music in 1994 and 1995 was so much better than today's.
      I was unaware of Auto tune for the most part, the only time a heard it was for a couple seconds off the top 40 hit " only God knows why" by Kid Rock. It was an Overplayed radio pop country hit. In one verse you can hear it. Nowadays in everysong you see kids singing with it like crazy. It sounds horrible - imo.

    It's really wild to hear him now having grown up listening to his earlier work, he has gotten so much better and I think so much more intentional over time. (I say this having loved every second of his earlier work, he just seemed to really push or strain for some things before, whereas now we still get wonderful emotional intensity but it seems more in control.)
    Also akdhaskjhsd the sudden cut off at the end of this video was A+

    Tnx for this, was super awesome. Brendon's so underrated, it hurts me, but at the same time I know he doesn't want to be more famous/recognized. His voice feels warm to me, cozy, soft, comforting. I think its because he doesn't struggle while singing, its all so natural, he makes me trust him that he won't fail a note, that he'll hit them perfectly and even if he'll have a voice crack, I know that stuff is just funny to him so I won't be annoyed at it, like I am with other singers, but I'll just laugh because I know that's what he probably did. Idk, Brendon's voice, the tone of it, is something very special.

    Anyone else hear Buffalo Bill when Sam pulls his tongue back to sound muffled?
    It puts the lotion on its skin, lol.

    I love how much you explain how and why different styles and techniques sound different. It makes it easy for people like me with no music background to understand. I appreciate that.
    I would like to see your opinion on that singing ventriloquist (Darci Lynne?) from AGT a few years ago.

    Yay, Weezer! Your videos are always interesting and well thought through, you seem like such a nice guy.
    If you're up for song suggestions, I'm really curious what you'd make of a Glen Hansard song (preferably Angel at my table). :)

    I don't know if enough people will want this, but I'd love it if you reacted to "Matt Corby - Brother (BalconyTV).
    There's some really interesting points vocally I think!

    Would love a reaction to Queen live in Montreal ('81), preferably Somebody To Love (or Save Me, Play The Game, etc.)

    Out of curiosity, what does Brendon do right with the "use jaw to make vibrato sound" as opposed to this Lewis Capaldi guy who started to look like a turkey? Is it a question of sprinkling it into the song sometimes for effect vs overusing it?

    I've said before, but I'd love it if you'd review another live Hozier performance. He has a few live performances on a channel called The Current, or if you ever wanted to do a comparison about how an artist can completely change a song, by listening to Arctic Monkeys "Do I Wanna Know" vs Hoziers live lounge cover. Hits completely differently.

    Hey. Checkout Brendon's cover of "into the unknown" and also "ashes" (it's just a clip from his twitch Livestream).

    Thanks for this! Felt like the band didn't support his good energy and intensity, sounded and looked like they were playing a ballad all the way through...

    Wheeler brings back fond memories...So moving to see you smile watching his performance. Thanks so much for this analysis, Sam. Please check out and review Angelina Jordan - either Bohemian Rhapsody performed for AGT, or any of her other 200+ songs on her channel. She has such a wonderful voice, and recomposes all the songs she sings to make them her own. Also she always sings barefoot.

    Hiho, Sam Johnson!
    How are you?
    Once again you showed yourself with some outstanding analysis of vocal, God dayum.
    I would suggest some analysis of Shinedown, don't know if you have heard of them before, some of their acoustic versions, like their cover of Simple Man, 45, Save Me... Best wishes and have a wonderful week.
