I have a question for you. As a writer, who sometimes neglect the fundamentals, how often does somebody call you out on it (for lack of a better phrase)? Do you catch it before somebody else? Do you have editors who correct you? Do you still get published and discover it later?
I’m asking because I want to write. It’s not coming up with stories thats my issue. It’s punctuation. I’m not always confident about it. When I study it, I think, who remembers all of this while writing? Then I’ve read published authors who didn’t seem to care. Like the dude who wrote, Last Exit to Brooklyn.

Except that she insists on pronouncing the letter “r” before other consonants eg “woRld” whereas it is silent in English/English. Likewise the letter she pronounces as “zee”. Both these items are of American usage. Likewise many other instances eg her pronunciation of “pretty” as “priddy”....et al
