I watch most of these videos at 2x speed because of work, but can we take a second to commend Nums for his enunciation? He's one of the few streamers that speaks clearly enough to still be 100% understandable at double speed ^^
Yup. I was thinking "sacrificing to Mondrak doesn't help, because Mondrak will be sacrificed, not destroyed", but then I learned how to count to two multiple times.
@@MrMartinSchou what was the benefit of doing it more than once? I mean they would have died anyway and having 3 indestructible counters is not really different from 1 right? I mean I guess Glissa can remove 3 so is that it?
@@villerant Indestructible wouldn't have saved Mondrak because the wanderer makes you sacrifice. By sacrificing literally every other creature Nummy had to 'choose' to let them keep Mondrak. If they'd had an even number of creatures they'd have been left with 2, so Nummy would have chosen the other one and Mondrak would have died.
Love it or hate it, do you think this set teacher good fundamentals? Low curve, building synergy, etc. Or is that at odds with drafting more splashable sets like dominaria ?
I think the second loss. Not Killing the eye was wrong. Especially the turn the mantis attacked as well. Wandering emp. Could have flickered the mantis back under your control. For that same reason I think planar disruption could have gone on the non token mantis so the emp can blink kill the token.
57:22 you could use canker bloom to block > sac it to kill other one > take no damge , they can't gain life play many matches might blur your decision lol
its essentially impossible to rank back up once you've fallen into the 1k+ range. every loss no matter what the rank of the person you're playing. will absolutely decimate ur rank compared to each win. not to mention everyday u wake up to play you'll have plummetted 100 ranks. i had 2 recent days where i'd had a few bad drafts. i woke up did a draft lost rd 1 and dropped 250 spots ended teh draft 7-1 and was 120 spots lower than when i started. No possible way to beat a system like that.
i think you draft alot of red/green/white because this colours are strong in this draft (and blue feels really hard to draft in this collection, don't know about black), is like in the strixhaven collection where prismari and silverquill really shined over other schools on the drafts, it just happens to be like that in some collections.
This is helpful to learn draft. I lost a bunch gems yesterday in Phyrexia quick draft. But it seems easier to do premier. But I still don't understand alot of the cards and deck building.. It would be better to have something explaining good cards and how to put together a deck for phyrexia. Also how to not get higher rank. I don't understand this video trying to get higher rank points. I'm in gold rank draft but I want to know how to stop going up and get lower. Because higher users might be better. I started with over 4k gems. But now under 2k. I'm scared to play because I need to get my gems back up. But I have to win 5/7 in premier. Multiple times in a row. If I go 4/7 once I won't be able to play again since I used up all my gold in losing every quick draft (not getting 6 wins to recover gems). And I need to get more gems to but the basic face lands in the item mall. And have enough for the battle pass next season - 3400 gems.
In terms of winning games Premier is more difficult. Better opponents especially the higher rank you get. Quick draft has a worse payout though. In this video Kenji is trying to get higher in Mythic. He is already at the highest level but getting to top 250 pays you out with an invite to a tournament. In general you gain rank when you win and lose rank when you lose. Up to Gold you gain 2 and only lose 1. After that in Platinum and Diamond you gain 1 for winning. Once you get to Mythic winning gains you rating and losing loses you rating. Based on that you get a position (rank) in Mythic. So there is no way to lose rank other than losing and the montly reset when everyone will lose rank. Unfortunately while it is free to play you do not gain gems much without having a very high win rate. Barring that you can always buy them. In general should not be scared to play. That is how you get better. Good luck!
@@WoRMaSTeR64 Yes. I try not to be scared to play. But gems are on the line. And you have to win in order to continue to play. Since the amount of chances to play are based gems you own. So if you lose, then you have to wait and wait for gold to accumulate. Not to mention needing to make more gems n order to get the next battle pass. And the basic face lands in the item mall look nice. So I'm hoping to make more for that. So it is a bit scary because of the possibility of losing enough times to have no more gems. After I bought the starter pack and adventure pack, I was able to get the current battle pass, and play Premier draft. So I went to having over 4,000 gems after that. But then I tried Quick draft because it cost less. And lost every single time before getting enough wins to recover my gems. I decided to do Premier since it seems easier. And I won all 7 to the end. But I'm still at a deficit since I have less than 3,000 gems
seeing you to struggle with ranking up, its almost uplifting to know i play only for enjoyment of drafting. I see your pain with arena. Its so time consuming and you have to be really good to be in the top. and its still just a game :D
Piloting a deck and threat management comes over time if you critically think while playing. The wonder for me w Nummy is his quickness in learning a limited format and how well he performs drafting his deck.
Nummy you kick butt, wish I was half the player you are. (I am curious though, why do you never play adaptive sporesinger? It is on par with contagious vorac, only it is more aggressive than vorac because vorac is used as fixing).
Haha Sporesinger is probably the worst green common and Vorrac is easily best, maybe of any color so yeah it is about as far a difference between those two that can be. If Sporesinger had a third option to get a land from top 4 it would still be worse. :D
I went back to watching some of your Ikoria Drafts, complaining about a Win rate of 99.7%, then going back to MTGO for a challenge. Comparing to Phyrexia I can really see the issue with this format, it's just too fast to be predictable, and Creatures are attacking from too many Angles.
Pretty much every one of my best drafts in the format has been Rx, R is just way too good and deep to pass it up most of the time. Shame, but it's just how it is

Same 😂
Although there are also some streamers who talk so slowly that it feels like 1x speed lol
1.5x speed stand up!
That game against the UW deck was insane. The decision to sac everything except Mondrak is such a next level play!

@@caspianx10 Thanks! Good reminder to read the cards more carefully
These were probably the most spectacular games of the format I've ever seen 👏
46:00 is it better just to uptick the wanderer?

glissa and wanderer in the same limited deck is bonkers
You get 20 gems whenever you'd add a card to your collection that you already have 4 copies of. Don't need. Complete set, just 4 of that card

.007% chance of 0/7 on first turn. Wtf is wrong with arena! Fix this damn game this is ridiculous. I’ve had a few 0/5 myself it pisses me off 😤
.7%
those odds will occur many times per day given the number of players on arena.
@@FrederikHanghjIversen Correct .7% I didn't do the conversion I was pretty mad. Still ridiculous odds.
