Holy heck those ending twists! I love the storytelling and personally don’t mind darker tones at all. I’ll be interested to see who’ll be next up as med cat 🙀 Palestar being so determined to spite Halfheart by offing her apprentice no matter how short-term that she plans a double sacrifice to seize her chance seems so fitting for her character imo XD She’s abusing her power not just with her dark allegiance but also her favoritism, and now that Halfheart’s made an effort to stand up to her she’s not even hiding the favoritism!
I'm so glad you're enjoying this! I really thought I would end this after October, but it's been so enjoyable to play and spin that it's gotta stay! Thanks for the complement, and I really hope you keep enjoying the series!
Oooo I love how this series is going and how brutal Palestar is. I get so attached to the ones I know will die, poor things. Can't wait for the speedpaint!
Ohhhh I love the idea of palestar going to fair and catching starclans eye! I wonder if any cats would see that halfheart is right and maybe think they would be the smarter leader Also I think it would be cool to see mossshell drawn!
Tbh I know the drawings are meant to honour the dead cats but what better way to honor them by drawing HalfHeart who stood against the wicked ways of the dark forest? I think that'd be really cool to see HalfHearts moment of retaliation illustrated
your storytelling for this episode was so good !! envisioning their camp and that brutal night was terrifying. absolutely agree with what someone else said about drawing halfheart ! maybe with lightfur’s ghost behind her? i cant imagine the guilt but also fear halfheart must be feeling now after being demoted. very interested to see where her story goes !!
Amazing video I would love to see Lightfur be drawn and maybe she would be scared but would have her shoulders up and right before the… moment would look at Halfheart and nod as in you tried you tried
"The Dark Forest has been unsatisfied. This moon, we will sacrifice not one, but _two_ cats tonight," Palestar announces, smiling maliciously atop her throne of rotted wood. Last time she was unable to take her glory; her deputy Halfheart had simply killed Flashbloom without the ancient ceremony. And she would be punished for that. "Goldwish, will you kindly step up, please?" The pale-orange tabby nervously steps up to the other rotting stump. She had caught the scent of an enemy warrior - she thought it was an enemy warrior, but it was not. The scent came from none other than... Palestar. "Goldwish, you are marked for death tonight. You have until midnight to live. Should you seek to leave this camp, the Dark Forest shall rebel," Palestar says, her voice echoing in the woods. "What are your last words?" "M-my last words?" Goldwish asks in shock. _Oh no. Oh no. This could not be happening to her. This could not be happening to her. Her clanmates had talked about how they were sorry that another 'Flashbloom' had to happen. That they were sorry that there would be more kits without mothers._ She stands up. "This clan - no matter how short it was for me - has been lovely. Aside from this-this murder, I could not've hoped for a better clan to raise my kits. Now I know I am wrong. Now I know that my kits may suffer the same fate as mine. But - I have met so many different cats, so many different upbringings, and even though we are all different, this Clan brings us together." Whispers of astonishment ring from around the camp. "Is she really serious?" "This Clan is built on darkness..." "We worship the Dark Forest, not _StarClan_..." "Those with lighter pelts and undesirable traits should be taught a lesson..." "Yes, the clan does bring us together-" "-together to sacrifice to the Dark Forest!" "Maybe this is true..." Goldwish continues, ignoring the terrible remarks. "I know that there is no way I can live. There is no way I can live. But I can still make an impact." She pauses, looking at all the pale-pelted cats, all the cats with 'undesirable' traits, and says, "As long as this clan is ruled by the Dark Forest, there is no peace. There will only be sacrifice, upon sacrifice, upon sacrifice. The point is, the Dark Forest will never be appeased. Never. No matter how many cats you will sacrifice, they will still be unhappy. But the Dark Forest is among the dead. You don't _have_ to sacrifice to them. It's unnecessary. All you're doing is fueling this clan's bloodthirst." With that statement, she looks at Palestar in the eye. "You don't care how many cats die. You just care that they die. And if this is the way I die - a noble death in the claws of some lunatic driven cats - then fine. You haven't won. You won't win. As long as there are cats that defy you, you will not win." There is no sound. Only contemplative thinking, though some cats are very riled up already. Palestar is furious, but she cannot interrupt a cat's last words. "I suppose I'll be another Flashbloom." Goldwish notices Halfheart wincing. So _they_ killed her. "But at least I will die a martyr. I am sorry for whoever is next. They will not deserve this cruel death." Her words echo in the forest. She steps down, very slowly. She flicks her tail. A shadow looms behind her. Mossshell. She radiates fury. Goldwish sighs. This is the end. This is the end, and she knows it.
A blood-stained figure slowly lazed back to the clearing. It was Mossshell, holding Goldwish's mangled body in her claws. "Thank you, Mossshell," Palestar says wickedly, noting the bloody lifeless body. "It is an honour," she replies. Perhaps it is simply Lightfur's imagination, but she seems a bit unsure. "Now, Lightfur..." "Yes?" she asks, meekly. No! She cannot submit to such evil. She cannot, and she will not. She straightens herself. "What is it?" she snaps. "Getting feisty, aren't we?" the elderly cat replies. Her voice turns cold. "Step on the stump." "I will not," Lightfur says, eyes hardening. Palestar simply snaps her fingers, and a trembling Laurelwhisker and a shuddering Algaestrip force her onto the rotted stump. "No." A voice comes from behind them. It's Halfheart. Her mentor. She can't read their emotions today. "One is enough. We do not want to enrage StarClan," they say, eyes flickering from cat to cat. Palestar strikes them across the face. "Do you really want to be sacrificed as well as your _darling_ apprentice? Because we are very happy to add one more cat to our list. Especially after all these interruptions. Sit down." Halfheart freezes. _Stand up against them!_ Lightfur thinks, willing her mentor to go up again. But they don't. It's all up to her. At least Goldwish has set up an example. She will follow it. "Any last words?" Palestar asks, practically hissing. "Yes, actually."
I’m going to be pretty sad when Halfheart dies! Definitely my favorite cat. Hopefully it’ll be dramatic and it’ll contribute to the story! Love this series! Also, I headcanon that Flaxclaw didn’t really praise or care for Halfheart when she was Halfpaw, to protect her from Palestar 😊 And I say you should draw Lightfur! They played a bit of story into Halfheart’s plot!
It was the dead of night, and there was a new moon. Olivekit had to struggle to see it among the stars and the midnight black sky, and she was barely able to make out the tiny shape of the moon. Nevertheless, she was still able to see the rotting shape of the Dark Tree as Palestar leaped to the top of the nasty, rotting tree that Olivekit had always been disgusted at the sight of, ever since she was first taken into the clan. "I would love to announce to our ancestors in the Dark Forest that not one, but two cats will be sacrificed tonight." Palestar puffed out her chest, looking just as bloodthirsty and bitter as usual. Olivekit widened her eyes and huddled closer to Carmen, who had found her and nursed her to full health when she first came to the clan as a fearful, injured kit. Carmen was just like a father to her, and she knew that once Carmen died, she would be on her own, unless Goldwish stepped up to take care of her, as she was the only queen in the nursery, and the only cat besides Carmen that even seemed to have hope for Olivekit anymore. Halfheart was watching through narrowed eyes as she sat close to her former apprentice, Lightfur. Ever since the death of Flaxclaw, her former mentor and the former deputy, Halfheart had been vengeful and uneasy whenever Palestar sacrificed her clanmates to the Dark Forest, and she had been the closest to Lightfur, who she had welcomed into the clan as her apprentice and trained to become a wonderful warrior. Out of the corner of her eye, Olivekit spotted Primkit and Shellkit closing their eyes as Palestar welcomed their mother, Goldwish, up for sacrifice. "No!" Shellkit wailed. "Don't worry, kits." Lostberry murmured, sitting close to the kits as Olivekit watched Palestar slice her claws at Goldwish, and before long, Goldwish had already lost the fight. She was taken away for burial, and then Palestar called Lightfur up. "Come on, Lightfur. Don't be nervous." Palestar meowed. "You'll upset the lost souls of the Dark Forest by being nervous." She added. Halfheart narrowed her eyes and got to her paws just as the clan leader was about to start wrestling with her former apprentice. "No." She snarled. "I will not let you lay a claw on her." She announced. Every cat was staring at her, and Shellkit and Primkit were gazing at her through wide, worried eyes. "Sit down, Halfheart." Palestar growled viciously, flexing her claws as she glared at her clan deputy. "Unless you want to be sacrificed instead." She added threateningly. Without further ado, she finished off Lightfur and the other she-cat was sent to be buried by the elders. Halfheart was watching Palestar in disgust, and before every cat could depart, Palestar let out an orderly yowl. "Halfheart has proven that her name was the right choice, and she's a half-hearted deputy. Because of that, I'll be selecting a new deputy tonight. Quinzee, please step up. Halfheart, your position will be taken over by Quinzee, and if you dare protest, you will be sacrificed along with Lightfur and Goldwish. I expect Sparrowpaw to be trained to be just as well of a warrior as you, Quinzee, and for your loyalty to remain to the Dark Forest and to our clan. Sparrowpaw will be next to take your place if you happen to be sacrificed or are killed in some other way." Palestar meowed. "I will always stay loyal to HollowClan, Palestar, and I expect Sparrowpaw to be the same way." Quinzee promised, glancing over at his apprentice expectantly. Olivekit felt a rush of horror run through her. How were cats really this loyal to the Dark Forest and such a terrible clan? He glanced up at Carmen in fear. "Don't worry, Olivekit, I'll keep you safe from the lost souls and these evil cats." Carmen murmured in his ear as the clan meeting was called off. "Thanks."
Is there anywhere else that has this 'dark forest' challenge? I tried to look at it to do for myself and couldn't get through to it, so is it written down anywhere else?
In the Clan-Gen discord, there is a channel called 'challenges' and if you use the search bar at the top, it should pull up under a user names marshmellow_cat3! Let me know if that doesn't work, and I'll see if I can't copy and paste it into a google doc!

Mossshell or Goldwish because she was killed while her kits were so young
Amazing video as always! Hope your day has been good so far!
Halfheart try to warn the leader this would happen but the leader didn't care and now is suffering the consequences
I like the storyline of this clan
Yay
Fadedbite bit some death berries then faded away... (That's what I thought when I got to that part, lol)

I found it! :D
Maybe you should draw goldwish she was a loving cat and she does not deserve to be sacrificed
