  • never worry about batteries on the H4n Pro anymore, this method unlocks lots of power supplying possibilities.
    My apologies the focusing system was hunting because because I forgot to disconnect from HDMI.

    When it says, "1A" on the bottom of the H4n, it means you need to be able to supply at least 1A of power at 5 volts. So you can plug it into a 1000A supply and it will only pull 1A and it will be happy and perfectly safe. If you "feed" it with a 0.5A power supply, it might overheat the power supply and start a fire. Think about your house wiring and extension cords: you need to be able to provide more than what your power tool wants. The house will deliver up to 15A, and so plugging in a 15 amp vacuum cleaner works fine. But - don't try to run it through a thin extension cord! Those cannot handle that sort of current, and they'll start a fire. Or think about drinking a glass of water: if you had a trickle refilling your cup you would empty it and still be thirsty. But if you had the capacity of a firehose (assuming you could only turn it on just a tiny bit) it would easily keep your glass filled faster than you could drink.

    This is a great idea!
    I’m pretty sure the current rating on the power supply only matters in so far as the H4n will only draw up to 1A. This means an 0.5A supply will not work and potentially damage the recorder. Using 2.1A rated output wouldn’t matter because the H4n still would only draw 1A.
    What would be problematic would be using a 9V supply.
    At least that’s my understanding from using guitar pedals with different voltage and amperage ratings.

      You can not use over voltage it will burn your recorder or any device.
      Otherhand you can use more rated amps

    What I did is: I got and old 5v smartphone charger and joined to a notebook universal cable to use it wall-plugged. The connector of Zoom H4n pro is type G. I could even also join to a usb cable to use with portable supply. H4N pro is too power hungry. I miss my H1. It worked by being powered through the usb b port, which h4n pro cannot (it enters is connection mode).

    Could anyone measure the volts and amps output of an original H4n Pro zoom adapter? someone who can measure it with an electrical tester. and end of discussion

      Because that way it can only be used an audio interface.

    Does the external batter supply create noise in the records? I feel that the a/c power adapter does add ground noise. Great video!

    • @florinG
      @florinG  3 роки тому +1

      I'll come with an update on that, I don't think it should increase floor noise, the recorder is designed to be used like that. All we changed is the alternating current to direct current. But I'll run some test and update you on that to be sure that's the case, thanks.

    • @florinG
      @florinG  3 роки тому +2

      Unscientific test, recorded and listened to both samples, floor noise level seems similar in both scenarios.

    with zoom h5 it is saved even if the power is disconnected

    • @florinG
      @florinG  Рік тому

      Wow, that’s really nice. So far I’ve tried this on my Zoom H4N Pro, Zoom f3, F6 and Portacapture X6 and none of them will save the recording if they get disconnected from the power supply. They do however automatically switch to batteries if there are batteries inside and also will do save if the batteries are running low. Anyways thanks for letting me know, cheers👍

      @@eduard.cinema Oh, sorry mate 😅, the reply was actually meant for someone else’s comment. I don’t know because I have not tested whether this function is available on the H5, I think it does but I don’t know it for a fact.I actually owned an H5 but I don’t have one available to try it at the moment, my current recorders are H4,F6,F3, a couple of Tascams and some other wireless systems. If buying it depends on this query you can easily email Zoom and I’m pretty sure the will happily answer your query, Thanks✌️

      The powerbank is called 'iPossible power bank'.
