Steve Lukather on guitar, David Paich on keys and vocals, Joseph Williams on vocals, Simon Philips on drums! All this AND Nathan East on bass and vocals?! What a nice surprise! I had no idea he had ever played with them. Great reaction as always!
Africa is a timeless classic. I imagine everyone, at some point, has a memory that includes this brilliant song. I've watched a few renditions of this being performed live, and it never disappoints. This was another great performance. Nathan East on bass too! Nice. What a bass player he is, and my word does he get about. Thanks for reacting to this one guys, it's a gem.
There is a recording of this on a loop powered by solar power, playing this song over and over somewhere in the middle of some African desert. Maybe someone could post more of this info. Feel good song ! We need more of these !
This was a "B" side song, I know they never expected it to be a popular as it is. I rocked my sons to sleep to this song when were babies. I think it's ingrained in their souls!
Some Trivia: 'Africa is the 10th title on their album 'Toto IV' (1982). The band members thought of it as a 'scary experiment' and had many reservations about the song because they thought it would not fit between the other songs of the album. It ended up being their best selling title ever gaining multitudes of platinum and gold awards in countries all over the world even now appearing in many billboard lists of best songs ever. In my own country 'Africa' was no. 21 in the Top 2000 list of all times, edition 2023. Kind regards from the Dutch Mountains.
Toto es un banda de musicos profesionales, originariamente cada uno de ellos eran requeridos para participar con diferentes artistas hasta que un dia decidieron reunirse y surgió toto.
Great reaction. Very nice performance even though several members who originally recorded “Africa” weren’t with them in this video. Toto and Atlanta Rhythm Section were made up of session players and even though they were all great musicians live, I always felt they really shined on the studio recordings because they knew how to tweak every sound to make the recording a work of art. RIP Jeff.
One of my favorite songs by this group. Toto started in the late 70's & has been performing for over 40 years now. They mix all types of genres in their sound. They have had some great hits such as "Rosanna", "I'll Supply The Love", "Georgy Porgy", "99", "Make Believe", "Stranger In Town", "I'll Be Over You", "Without Your Love", "Stop Loving You", "Pamela" etc.
A great reaction for a great song, as you always do. But, guys, you don't know it yet, but you *NEED* to check out this live extended version of this song, the drummer does magic. Africa, live in Amsterdam 2018 ua-cam.com/video/uhwLOBFc298/v-deo.html

Listening to this song while flying a plane in GTA SA after coming home from school is one of the best memories of my childhood...
I had not seen this version before, thank you for introducing it to me and the memories of this great song!

This song man... Even after all those decades, it's still as good as the first time. Incredible song.
TOTO is my brother's favorite band. When I was 24, I got to follow him to see them. In north of Sweden. 🤗.
Hug from Sweden 🇸🇪
Toto is fire. This is so refreshing. Africa is so worn out., but listening to this live is really good. Thsnks.
Ive always loved this song!
In my opinion this is one of the best live performance from TOTO with, as usual, an incredible line up. A masterpiece !

Every time I hear this song.... I long for the summer weather (as I look out and see the snow and know that it's -1 degree haha).

Simon Phillips is one of the greatest drummers ever! :)
I concur !
Many of the band members are all time greats at their instruments, including Steven Lukather on guitar, Nathan East on bass, and David Paich on piano.
Maestro Nathan East on the Bass !
There is a reason this song is so popular.
Preciosa 👏👏👏

You would love the song Rosanna from the same live concert in Poland.. Toto 35 year anniversary tour ✌️
Bobby kimball rules!!!!
Nice to see Nathan East playing bass. Seems he took some lessons from Phil Collins during his years with his band! Call and response ad libs.
🤘🤘
